I look out the window of the miserably small plane and glare into the dark. I'm sure that you've picked up on my super good mood, note the sarcasm.
I'm sorry, I'm being rude. My name is Persephone but I go by Seph. Oh by the way I'm also supernatural. Ok it's not that big of a deal, but I'm a samodiva. All the women in my family are. It's a type of South-Slavic creature that is know for its beauty and love of fire. Anyway, we can talk about this later. I'm from the Balkans, Rhodes, Greece if you want to get specific and apparently I do. Rhodes is a small island in Eastern Europe and I love it there.
However, we're moving, despite my incessant begging and threats of running away. My parents insist that it will all be fine. I'll make friends, do well in school, basically adapt to whatever hell hole we're moving to.
Don't get me wrong, I'm good at making friends... I just don't feel like it. I liked my old friends thank you very much.
Anyway we're on the fast track to nowhere land right about now. Our new home is some tiny dot on the map called Beacon Hills. It's in California so needless to say, I'm not going to be able to visit Rhodes very often. My parents say it has lots of trails and forests which is code for its in the middle of nowhere. I'm hoping it's not as bad as it sound but I doubt it. We still have a few hours on our current flight. We'll land in New York and from there we have to drive the rest of the way. I'm not excited at all... shocker.
For what it's worth I'm really not a brat. I get strait As, walk the dog, do the dishes, take out the trash, and listen to my parents. I'm just a kid in a crappy situation and I'm not taking it well.
But then I look at my parents. Their hopefully faces, and concerned looks indicate that they're doing their best. I understand that dad got transferred. We had to move, it's not fault.
Well if they can make the best out of it so can I. After all, how bad can it be?
