Heaven paced back and forth in the public restroom feeling slightly nausea as the time passed her by. She didn't know if it was her nerves or if she was really sick. It was the official adoption day.
"Baby you're going to be fine." Jayda said, watching Heaven pace back and forth. Jayda wouldn't dare miss the most important day in Heaven and Daloni's life. She also knew that Heaven needed some support.
"What if the judge hates me? What if I freeze up?" Heaven asked, as tears filled her eyes. This was the most important day in her life and she just hoped that everything ran smoothly.
"I think you're overthinking Heav. Take a couple breaths and just think about the positive. We didn't decorate his room for nothing. He's coming home with you." Jayda reassured her, holding Heaven's face.
"You have good support out there. Just be yourself and don't worry about the what if's." Jayda said, wiping the tear that fell from Heaven's right eye.
"I got this." Heaven nodded, trying to convince herself. She got a paper towel and dabbed at her eyes careful not to mess up her lashes.
Heaven wore a cream-colored pant suit that fitted her greatly. Her natural coily hair was on display showcasing her curls. On her feet were her red-bottoms and a small anklet that had Daloni's name on it. She smelled of Vanilla and Shea Butter and everytime you walked by you could smell her fragrance.

"All rise for the honorable Judge Timothy Brown." The bailiff called out from his corner. Timothy Brown was the best judge when it came down to family matters.
Everyone in the small courtroom stood as the African American man came in with a serious and stern look on his face. His black gown stopped at his feet and his glasses were on the tip of his nose.
"You may be seated."
Everyone in the crowd took their seats including Zylin, Jayda, Cane, Ms. Charlotte, and Kenzie. They were all there in support for Heaven and Daloni.
Judge Brown first started going through Daloni's file just to get caught up on his back story. He looked at all of his hospital files and cancer treatments. "Heaven Bridges?"
"Yes sir." Heaven nodded.
"Are we here for the adoption of Daloni Evans?" Judge Brown asked, pushing his glasses up on his nose.
"Yes sir." Heaven nodded.
"And where is Daloni right now?"
A TV screen came from behind a wall showing Daloni live smashing his trucks together. They had virtual zoomed so that Daloni could be present the whole time.
The judge watched as Heaven's face lit up as soon as she saw Daloni.
"Who's on his case?" The judge asked.
"I am your honor." Ms. Walker stood up.
"You will be aiding in the final decision of the adoption. I would like to hear from Ms. Bridges and her lawyer first to state why she should have full custody of Daloni." Judge Brown stated.

Heaven's lawyer stood opening his folder. "Your honor my client Heaven Bridges is requesting full custody of Daloni. The pair has known each other for quite some time being that he was taken to the hospital for an underlying health issue. Your honor Daloni has been a child of the state since a baby. He's only been in a couple of foster homes where they returned him because of his health issues."
"Heaven has been on the side of Daloni every since he fell ill. She's taken great lengths by paying for all of his cancer treatments and throwing him his fifth birthday party. The love that my client has for Daloni is unexplainable. She's ready to take full responsibility and officially have Daloni as her son." Heaven's lawyer said.
"It says here that she's Daloni nurse, is that true Ms. Bridges?" The judge asked Heaven.
"Yes sir. I'm his nurse." Heaven nodded with great confidence.
"So there has been hospital assessments and visitations. Ms. Walker have you ever saw any signs of discomfort with the two?"
"Absolutely not. That little boy on the screen loves Ms. Bridges just as much as she loves him. Daloni is very comfortable with her, he actually only tolerates her. Daloni's parents are deceased but Ms.Bridges has taken on the role as a great mother." Ms. Walker explained.
"Have you did house assessments?"
"Yes sir. She's currently in the process of moving, however I've viewed the house and it's in a great area. There's a local elementary school that he'll be able to attend as well. Your honor Daloni is very attached to Ms. Bridges. I have every reason to believe that she will be an amazing mother. I've watched her come to parenting classes and she's learned so much while there.
"Not to mention that she's a nurse, I believe that with his condition she will be very beneficial to his health and the continuous improvement. You have my word your honor." Ms. Walker finished off with a nice smile.
Heaven was beaming on the inside at every word that Ms. Walker had said.
"Ms. Bridges, why do you feel that you should have full adoption of Daloni?"
Heaven thought for a second and cleared her throat. She tried to piece her words together but honestly she just wanted to speak from her heart. "Your honor, before I met Daloni I was just living for the thought of it. Honestly I was dead on the inside. I would work myself to death just to avoid being alone.
"When Daloni first came in, he immediately clung to me. I didn't think it was nothing until I noticed myself getting attached. I started running to his every cry, holding him until he fell asleep, and teaching him his colors. That's when I realize that Daloni was making an impact on my life. Every time I see him I get excited on the inside. Daloni is the light to my life, without him I would still be dead on the inside. I could go on and on, but I just want everyone to know that Daloni is my son with or without a paper. You can't separate love." Heaven said, looking at Daloni playing the entire time.

Judge Timothy Brown nodded his head and looked over Heaven's background checks and her income. He made sure he read everything throughly before he made his final decision.
"I've come to terms with the wellbeing of Daloni Evans. I've decided that with the aid of Ms. Walker, Heaven Bridges will be granted full custody of Daloni Evans." Judge Brown said, making Heaven's eyes cloud of tears.
Zylin secretly took out his phone and started recording everything the Judge was saying. It was a happy moment, and happy moments were meant to be recorded.
"Ms. Bridges are you willing to take full custody of Daloni Evans, including all mental and heath conditions?"
"Yes sir." Heaven immediately responded.
"Social services will do monthly check-ins for the next six months to ensure that the well being of the child is properly managed."
"Is that a deal?" He asked Heaven, watching her wipe the tears free from her face.
"Y-Yes sir." She stuttered. Her words weren't forming properly due to the over excitement.
"I see that you've already petitioned to have his last name changed to yours. I've met with a jury before this session and they all agreed to grant Daloni your last name." Judge Brown nodded, signing the adoption papers with his lucky black pen.
"Thank you so much sir." Heaven said as her fingers and legs trembled.
"Congratulations. Judge Brown smiled. "Coming from a father of six, I can be the first to admit that parenthood is nothing short of easy. If any parent tells you that parenthood is easy, they're lying. It's a God sent gift and a rewarding experience. Love, understanding, patience, and care will get the job done. Welcome to parenthood." He smiled, slamming the gavel down and exiting the room.
Heaven burst into tears. Zylin quickly went to her side hugging her tightly. "You did it mama. He's all yours now." He whispered rubbing through he curls.
"I need to see him." Heaven cried.
"Aww. I wanna cry." Jayda pouted recording Heaven and Zylin.
~
Zylin had dropped Heaven off being that he had to go pick Nevaeh up from school. Nevaeh had claimed that she was sick, but Zylin knew she just wanted to see Daloni.
Jayda had the day off and decided to let Heaven and Daloni spend the day together by themselves. They deserved to enjoy their excitement with each other alone.
"Papa look, you have the same last name as me." Heaven burst into his room, slightly startling him. He was just about to go down for a nap, and she had woke him up.
"Mommy." He whined.
"Papa you get to come home with me." Heaven grinned, picking him up and spinning him around.
"I color boo." He said, pointing to his linen that he colored blue. Daloni sometimes colored his bedding instead of the coloring sheets.
"Loni remember I said the crayons go on paper." Heaven chuckled.
Daloni yawned and laid his head on her shoulder. He used his left hand to grab Heaven's boob, as the other hand stuck in his mouth.
Heaven had never breast fed Daloni before, she only pumped milk. Today she was confident enough to try it so she nodded her head. "Let's see how this goes."
She sat down in Daloni's bed and leaned back. Pulling her top to the side and cradling Daloni like a baby, his mouth quickly attached to her nipple.
Daloni started drinking milk like his life depended on it. His hand rested on her boob as his eyes got heavy. Heaven got his covers and threw it over them as she held the happiest smile on her face.
Heaven tried to move Daloni's head but he whined and kicked his legs. He was in a comfortable state and Heaven was interrupting him. She decided to leave him alone and allow him to finish taking his nap.

The DreamWalker Series
Ellette's dreams are unnaturally real. For years she has found them to be the perfect escape, the solution to a life that has been, at times, a nightmare. When she comes across a man from a dream in her waking life, he turns out to be just that; a dream come true. With finding him, she is forced to realize that her dreams overlap into reality, sometimes in frightening ways. The Dreamwalker Series was written as a number of short stories. Several of the stories are quite old so the writing style and mood of the pieces may shift in between each title. Some stories are flash fiction, and so may seem rather brief and abrupt. This story will be uploaded in a non-linear format.
