《Chasing the New Girl - (Complete)》Chapter 3

As promised, the next day her Mom took her to get a complete glow-up. They had to drive an hour and a half away to Peoria to be able to get everything they needed done. First, she stopped at the eye doctor and got an eye exam for contacts so she could stop wearing her black-rimmed glasses.
They taught her how to put the contacts in and it felt so weird having something touch her eye but she finally got the hang of it. They gave her temporary contacts so she could start wearing them right away until the large 1-year-supply box came in.
Next, they went to the mall and she shopped for a very long time, going into several stores until they had found quite a few outfits that looked amazing on her. Since she lost 30 pounds over the summer her old clothes were all too loose and baggy.
Losing that extra weight and getting toned made such a difference in the way clothes fit her and she was surprised how good everything looked that she tried on. Usually she had to try on a million things to even find one that she felt comfortable in, that would hide her belly pooch and thick arms. Now she didn't have to worry any more about covering anything up or hiding parts of herself she didn't like.
She found a cute short skirt that showed off her long legs, some dark blue high waisted shorts that were shorter than what she'd usually wear but they looked great on her, and some tight tank tops that she never would have dreamed of wearing before she toned up her tummy. She also got some cute summer dresses and yoga pants.
Shopping had actually been really enjoyable for once. The last stop on their adventure was the beauty salon. She got a blonde balayage treatment done on her brown hair to give her a beautiful blonde tone throughout and a hair cut with layers that really flattered her face and gave her hair more bounce.
They also did some nice natural makeup on her that would be perfect for school and taught her step by step how to do the hair and apply the makeup herself, so she could re-create it herself at home.
When she looked in the mirror after they were all done, she couldn't even recognize herself. She stared at her reflection in disbelief. She looked like a model.
Jolie just looked back in the mirror trying to wrap her brain around the fact that the beautiful girl looking back at her was her. She smiled and her straight white teeth looked so nice now that she was able to get her braces off over the summer. She was like a whole new person. She really wished her best friends Karragan and Molly were here to see this.

"Wow!" her Mom shrieked. "You look stunning!" Her Mom actually started to cry because she was so moved by her transformation.
"Come on Mom! Don't get all emotional on me here!" Jolie said as she laughed.
Her Mom was so happy with how it turned out, she bought her the straight iron and all the makeup & hair products they used so she could do it herself at home for school.
When she got home, she admired her bedroom that she had finished setting up & decorating earlier and hung up all her new clothes in the large walk-in closet.
Her Dad was one of the top defense lawyers in the state of New York so he made a lot of money and sent them spending money which is why she was able to get all these clothes and the makeover. Her Dad had always tried to buy her love instead of actually being involved in her life and even when he was around he was on a phone call or talking about a case. He was obsessed with work.
Jolie tried on several outfits to decide what to wear for her first day of school tomorrow. She put on the short skirt and a black tank top with several long silver necklaces and a long grey cardigan over. She slipped on some big silver hoop earrings and some cute black Doc Martens combat boots. "Yep this is it."
"Jolie! Austin's here for you!" her Mom called from downstairs. 'What? Austin came over just to see me?' she thought. As she walked down the stairs she saw his Nike high tops by their front door first and then she saw his shaggy brown hair, blue eyes and handsome face with the killer smile and she got butterflies in her stomach.
As he watched her come down the stairs the look on his face was priceless. He stood there with his mouth hanging open, speechless. He looked her up and down before saying "Jolie? Is that really you?"
"Of course it's me! Who else would I be?" she laughed.
"Wow. You're beautiful Jolie. Truly beautiful," he said in awe and then his expression changed as he realized what he said and quickly added, "Not that you weren't also beautiful before, but wow." He just stood there and stared at her for a minute in shock.
"Thank you Austin. That's really sweet of you to say," she said smiling. "I was just picking out what I'm going to wear for the first day of school tomorrow. Do you like this outfit?" she asked, doing a little spin.
"Yeah it looks really nice. YOU look really nice," he said still in shock from her amazing transformation.

"So did you come over to hang out or something?" she asked.
"Oh I forgot", he said fidgeting a little. "My Mom said that your Mom told her you don't have a car to drive here yet since you sold the other one in New York before moving so my Mom thought maybe you would want to ride with me to and from school? We live right next door and we're going to the same place anyway you know?" he asked, rubbing the back of his neck and looking down at the ground.
She thought he was so confident last night when she first met him, but he was acting really weird today. She was surprised that this insanely hot guy actually seemed nervous around HER now. Her. Jolie Watson. The one no boys ever paid attention to.
"Sure. Here give me your phone so I can put in my phone number. That way you can text me if you have trouble finding me after school or something," she said, as he handed her the phone & she started typing her number in.
"Thanks," He said. "I'll meet you out in front of your house in my black jeep at 8:00. Ok?"
"Ok. Sounds good. I'll see you tomorrow," she said smiling as he walked out the door. She watched him go down the driveway and then turn around at the end and look back at her, giving her a wave.
She waved back and then turned around and her Mom was standing there leaning against the kitchen doorway with her hands full of silverware that she had been in the middle of putting away.
"That boy likes you," she said with a smile.
"Oh please Mom. Boys that look like that don't like girls like me," she said, rolling her eyes and sighing.
Her Mom laughed. "That was before Jolie. I think things might be a little different now."
Jolie wondered if she was right.
Then she heard a knock on the door and opened it to see her Grandma standing there with her long grey hair straight and sleek wearing a long turquoise tunic with bright white pants and sandals and a bunch of large thick turquoise bracelets clanging on her wrist. Her grandma always had amazing style and looked beautiful.
"Gram!" she squealed, throwing her arms around her and getting a tight hug in return.
Her Grandma stepped back and looked her up and down, "Is THIS beautiful woman my little Jolie? It can't be!"
The three women sat around the kitchen table sipping on some hot tea and catching up for an hour before Jolie decided to turn in for the night. She had a big day tomorrow.
She took out her contacts, washed off the makeup and put on some pajamas before crawling into bed. She pulled the lamp chord covering her room in darkness, but when she rolled on her side she noticed that there was a light coming from across the yard.
She grabbed her glasses off the nightstand and noticed that the light was coming from a window from the house next door. Then she saw someone walk past and realized that was Austin's bedroom window! His room was right across from hers!
He was wearing a pair of tight black boxer briefs and nothing else, his tan chest, six pack and strong toned arms fully on display. She swallowed hard and felt her stomach flutter at the sight of him almost naked and she thought he could definitely be an underwear model, but then she felt bad like she was invading his privacy. Like a creepy peeping tom or something.
She rolled over to her other side and that's when she heard her phone ding.
'Goodnight' it said from an unknown number.
'Who is this?" she texted back.
'It's Austin. I just wanted to tell you again how pretty you looked today. You took my breath away'
Jolie rolled over and looked out the window and saw that he was laying on his bed in his boxer briefs looking at his phone.
'Thank you. You're too sweet. You're pretty cute yourself,' she answered back with a winking emoji .
'Am I seriously flirting with this hot guy that's way out of my league right now?' she asked herself, feeling a little embarrassed about what she just wrote and cringing inside.
'Thank you,' he wrote.
'Hey look out your window,' she wrote before flipping on her lamp so he could see her.
Austin came to his window and she smiled and waved at him. He waved back and smiled.
'Guess I can't walk around my room naked anymore,' he texted with a laughing emoji.
'' Jolie wrote back blushing as she wrote it. She had never written things like that to a guy before. Things she'd never have the guts to say to him face to face.
'I'll have to remember that,' he wrote before saying 'Goodnight.I'll see you in the morning beautiful.'
'Goodnight' she answered, rolling over and turning her light back off.
She put her pillow over her face and squealed into it, kicking her feet on the bed, so excited about her day and Austin. 'Maybe this new town won't be so bad after all,' she thought.
