《Breaking the Chains》Chapter 12: Resource Hall

Most people that got kicked off the tower landed face first or on their butts like Aegon but Haris seemed to be prepared and landed in a kneeling position which gave him an even more mysterious look.
Of course no one knew he was actually feeling pain as his knee was right on top of a piece of wood which made his prolonged kneeling position for posing purposes really hurt.
Standing up slowly he walked back to the crowd with his usual confident smile and silently waited for everyone's turns to end.
After everyone had their turns, Mentor 1 once again made an announcement.
“Now that all of the basics are done you are on your own, every month you can go get your cultivation resources. Aside from that there's multiple classes you can attend to further your knowledge of the cultivation path. I believe you all have the potential to surprise me.“ With his speech done he simply stepped on air and disappeared.
Everyone then headed to their respectives rooms since the sun was already setting.
Aegon was walking towards his room when he realized he had no idea what a “cultivation resource” even was, his brother had only told him it was something “fascinating”.
[ I remember Armond mentioning that most facilities are open 24/7. Maybe I should request my resources for this month.]
[Just one problem, Mentor 1 didn´t show us that place…]
Having no other option he decided to walk to the closest pavilion and ask for some directions.
It was a rather small pavilion with only one table where 8 people could sit but there were at least 20 people circling the table like something or someone really important was there.
As Aegon closed the distance he started listening to what people were saying.

“Junior Sister Bella and Elder Brother Travis are really a golden couple.”
“Of course they are, for someone like Junior Sister Bella who is a phoenix amongst women only a dragon amongst men like Elder Brother Travis is a right fit.”
The people talking had fascination and some jealousy in their eyes.
Aegon silently approached and stretched his neck looking over the shoulder of those surrounding the table.
He was surprised by what he saw. There were 8 chairs around the table and over twenty people were present but only one chair was being used and by two people at that. A beautiful young woman was sitting on a young man's lap, sometimes kissing him, sometimes just hugging him but completely ignoring the surrounding crowd.
Aegon was someone from the countryside where there was some slight contempt for people who were a bit too shameless and this pair had no shame at all.
[ I really don't understand these people, what's so interesting about seeing someone else make out?]
He concluded that every second spent in that place was a waste so he got back to his original objective.
He looked to the side and poked a young woman's arm. That woman was looking at the couple with the same mad fascination as the others.
She looked towards him slightly annoyed but waited for him to speak.
“Hey, I'm new here and I don't really know my way around, can you tell me where’s the building where they give us our monthly cultivation resources?”
Seeing that the young man that interrupted her wasn't trying to flirt and waste her time her expression eased up a bit and she even smiled slightly in a friendly manner.
She pointed to a distant shop-looking building that was built into the mountain. ”That's our resource hall where you can request for your monthly resources.”

Aegon looked in that direction for a moment and then returned his blue eyes to the young woman, he clasped his hands and gave a friendly smile that made him look slightly attractive. “Thank you!”
He then spun on his feet and moved towards the resource hall with a black wolf in tow.
He soon reached his destination and entered without hesitation.
The inside of the building was a lot more spacious than it looked from the outside but it was all empty with only a large desk that covered most of the wall opposite to the entrance.
Behind the desk a middle-aged woman was reading a book and didn't look away from it until Aegon arrived in front of the desk.
“You came here for your monthly resources right?” She asked with a lazy look on her face.
“Yeah.” Aegon answered.
A few seconds of awkward silence followed with Aegon and the female Elder looking at each other.
“Then show me your token. I can't know your rank just by looking at you, can I?” She was a bit annoyed at this disciple that seemed to have hit his head.
Aegon awakened from his daze of stupidity, he had actually been thinking about this woman’s age, by her face it looked like she was 40 but in the cultivation world you never know. “Oh yeah sorry.”. He took his token from his pocket and showed the number 831.

AOT: Boats
I know, the title doesnt seem to make sense. Its an acronym. For what? Hm. T means True. Up to you otherwise. Oh, right. The acronym actually does have an impact on one of the themes of the "story". At the same time I mixed it up with a reference to the original plan for this when I started, so yay. A double. Well, actually, a triple. Again, up to you. I should also mention that, as the rhyme that starts the story probably tells you, its gonna get kinda disturbing. All kinds of disturbing. Just to let you know.

Valley City. Up until around twenty years ago, it had been a nowhere place. Just a bunch of towns with no real reputation. Now, though, it's known for its progression in medical science. The Medical Technologies Company. It seemed to suddenly appear out of nowhere in the middle of what's now called City Center. Once just a manufacturer and developer of medical equipment, it eventually started to dabble in medical research. Before anyone even knew it, they were the leading research entities, with five seperate buildings in Valley City alone, all towering above everything else in the area. Some say they even swayed the local government into combining the old towns into one city and popularized prosthetic limbs as fashion themselves, but that's just gossip. Matthew Vega. A 25-year-old college dropout, tricked by MediTech into being experimented on under the pretense of participating in a clinical trial for rent money. After being broken out of their facility nearly a year after having her limbs replaced, then having her liberator captured, she seeks a way to dismantle the company or save the one she cares about. NOTE: Currently I am working on a rewrite. I will post a new chapter once that is ready, listed as V2CH-001. I hope you look forward to it.
