《Breaking the Chains》Chapter 11: Kicked Out

Soon after, two new fog hurricanes appeared and with them Aegon's new opponents.
They looked exactly the same as the axe wielding man, the only difference being their weapons, they were both using a standard longsword
They didn't give Aegon much time to think and rushed in his direction, choosing to ignore Kuro who was a few meters away.
Finding himself in such a situation Aegon quickly picked his swords off the ground and in a kneeling position criss crossed them in front of himself to defend from the incoming strikes.
Clank!
Both weapons clashed at the same time throwing away Aegon's swords but the impact still changed their trajectory which made their attacks miss by a thin margin giving Aegon enough time to use the momentum to roll out of that dangerous situation.
As the martial artists were preparing to once again attack the now defenseless Aegon, a black figure bit one of them in the neck leaving him to slowly dissolve while his attacker was already by Aegon's side carrying both swords in his mouth.
“Thanks Kuro, if that shopkeeper knew about your speed I bet he wouldn't have made me such an affordable price ahahah.”
What Aegon didn't know was that the shopkeeper was never under any illusions about Kuro’s potencial, he knew it was a strong magical beast with good potential and that the price Aegon paid was laughably low but that day on the market many people asked about and looked at Kuro but no one seemed to notice his pupils, those yellow pupils with black wavy stripes were not ordinary and maybe only someone with a deep insight would have the capacity to notice them and yet Aegon did, that surprised the shopkeeper that in a spur of the moment decision chose to try and make some connections with this young man and sell him at a cheaper price, maybe it was a crazy decision but he just couldn't shake off the feeling that it was a decision he wouldn't regret…

Back inside the tower, Aegon and Kuro defaulted to their “strategy” and this time Kuro gave the finishing blow by once again biting off the man's neck.
A similar scene played out a third time and three new opponents showed up from the fog.
This time they all had bows and instantly shot in Aegon's direction, he was not prepared for ranged weapons, those arrows got to one inch of hitting his face when they suddenly dissolved into fog, Aegon and Kuro were kicked out of the tower landing on their asses and prompting some laughs.
Aegon didn't notice the laughs. He had a deep frown on his face, he was really mad at himself and at the tower.
[What the actual fuck is this?? How can someone even defend against that? That's so unfair…]
As if a new personality inside him was taking over, his expression and his thoughts changed...
[Well actually I should have predicted something like this, I can guess that the goal of the tower is to train against any and all possible opponents, if that is so it makes sense to include martial artists who use bows…]
He was having his usual inner debate that would always go along the same lines, first the mad Aegon would blame everything and everyone but himself, then the more reasonable Aegon would come in and give a reasonable explanation and after that in comes determined Aegon already itching to do better next time. He is a rather simple kid.
[ Yeah, yeah that's it for sure, next time we will be ready for it, I will need a shield or maybe just some faster reactions and overall dodging speed, maybe some kind of mask would work too...]
Most youths that were laughing at Aegon getting kicked out of the tower and landing on his butt soon lost interest given Aegon's lack of response.

Mentor 1 that was eyeing from the side seemed content. [Hmmm that's it you saw it right? Those weapons are not worth it, there's still time to go back and pick another weapon, you just need to talk to me. I'll help you!]
Even though he would never say it, he shouldn't be pushing his disciple in their decisions; they had to make them on their own.
Aegon sat by himself on the floor pondering about his figths while disciple after disciple entered the tower, some with better performances and some with worse at least based on their time spent inside and their personal accounts of what happened, there was no actual way to know the score a person had gotten inside.
Of course one person stood out from the rest, at least from his time spent inside the tower and based on his battle prowess shown on the entrance tournament, no one believed he would run around and make time just to fool everyone...that person was obviously Haris Lawrence.

Book 1: Complete, in process of posting.Book 2: 50% complete, will schedule chapters when complete. Part of the Cycles of Imbalance universe. Will contain an alternative relationship dynamic (reverse harem, might be some MM and FF. No cheating, no NTR.) To the Creshe Empire, I’m just a number. I’ve spent the past five years in isolation and under study. With my home razed by a Syldrari attack, my mind damaged, and nothing but white walls and a viewing window around me, I dedicated myself to two things: training my body, and reading any book they allowed me to have. The Empire wants me to serve, to use the inhuman power the Incident stirred within me. Technically, they asked, but it wasn’t much of a choice. It never is. Serve, or… I refused to be a mindless slave. My life was taken from me once. Never again. With the Empire moving forward with their xenophobic plans, they needed someone capable of killing Syldrari—and I was just that. A tool they could use, a tool they thought they could manipulate. Needing me was their first mistake. They gave me leverage, I named my terms. Now, after five years, my life can begin.

Rise of a Scarlet Devil (Regular+Draft Version)
A young girl slain during a war was brought back to life by some unknown force millennia later. She could only remember a vague face within her memories, uncertain as to who it was but there was one thing she did know. She needed to kill that person. But she was too weak, she needed to hide, to grow. She needed to flee from the battlefield her enemy reigns over. And to do so, she needed to run eastward, towards Helios, a safe haven for those who have lost their homes in the war. And where she would grow to become the strongest Hunter under her own strength. What was it that brought her back? Only time will tell. #Author's Note The novel is organized like this:Regular Chapters (Act, Title, Part (ranging from 1 to 9))Draft Chapter DisclaimerDraft Chapters (Entry Number, Perspective, Title, Part (ranging from i to ii)) Regular chapters are edited chapters that reflect the story aspect more while Draft chapters reflect plot progression more. An occasional interactive chapter will appear in the drafts but nowhere in the regular chapters. Expect changes when reading between Regular and Draft chapters as some events in the story may change in length or entirely removed/changed. Only read the draft version if you want a future view and/or opinion on the story and design elements. The main character is a human from a fantasy world reincarnated as a devil. The story possesses Reincarnators, Transmigrators, and Summoned Persons. though mainly focusing on Magic and other abilities such as Aura and Skills. Wizards (those who prepare arcane spells) and Mages (those who use elemental magic) are separate but seen as the same by common inhabitants of the world but clearly defined as different by more influential persons and by the circles themselves. The main character WILL not be a Mage or Wizard but will incorporate mana into her attacks to aid her as does any high-rank combatants. The system in the novel quantifies a person's abilities and keeps record of them but does not define natural ability, occasionally granting special abilities as skills to a person once prerequisites are met. There is no leveling system and no occupational systems in the novel featuring only a stat based and skill based system. Also, this novel is my first and will most likely be trash.
