《The Sinful Mortal》Devil

Fifteenth of May, year 577.
A creature was flying towards Circinus at an incredible speed, many times faster than the speed of light.
It was hundreds of billions of kilometres long. It had a purplish-black shell that resembled that of a crab's, but it had no legs, no hands nor did it have a head. Countless dark, gruesome tentacles came out from within the shell and danced wildly.
Wherever it passed, only destruction was left. Its aura alone was capable of bending the very fabrics of the laws to its will. In addition, it could make every living being go crazy. The aura of madness emanated from it.
The creature seemed to have chosen its next target. It couldn't wait to devour those delicious souls. Its tentacles reached forward in a bid to grab the meal earlier. This was a Devil, one of many.
The Devil travelled thousands of light years. Every few light years, it would encounter a bunch of humans that would become its meal. Clearly, it was being baited.
The Devil didn't know nor did it care. All it wanted was to arrive earlier. Its speed increased further and it reached the prison in just a few hours.
The Gods made no effort to stop its advance. It passed the border and reached outside of Circinus in a matter of minutes.
A shield was erected around Circinus. The devil crashed into the shield and sent ripples along its surface. It was unknown how long the shield could last.
**********
In Circinus, in a military base near the border, soldiers were marching towards black spaceships in groups. Alarms were ringing throughout the entire planet.
The spaceships were completely closed and were in the shape of a flying saucer with sharp corners. Both the exterior and the interior were made of special materials that were highly efficient when used as an object for refining. The spaceships were infused with many complicated programs.

Thousands of spaceships left this planet and flew towards the disturbance area leaded by a huge, blue spaceship.
Many such scenarios were observed throughout the bases across Circinus.
Millions of spaceships gathered inside the barrier in lines, facing the devil.
Seeing delicious souls in front of it, the Devil became excited. It rammed into the shield more ferociously.
"Fire!" Came a deep voice from the communication device inside the spaceships.
The voice belonged to Anderson Mel. He sat in a gigantic, red spaceship which was situated in front of all the other spaceships. He looked to be in his early 80s. He had short brown hair and a pair of white pupils. He had two mouths and a tail. He donned a red armour and held his helmet in his hand.
With his order, all the spaceships activated their attack programs. Hordes of spells made their way to the Devil. The spells passed the battered shield and struck the Devil.
Unfortunately, the Devil remained unscathed. The attacks didn't even manage to reach it before they dissipated. They only served to fuel its fury.
The soldiers didn't get discouraged, they were used to such scenes. They continued to hurl spells at the Devil without stopping.
"Did those bastards respond?" Anderson asked a subordinate by his side.
"They say, they're on their way," came the answer.
"They're getting more and more daring," said Anderson, clearly furious, "how long can the shield hold?"
"Two hours at most."
"What about the reinforcement?"
"Reinforcement from the capital will take three hours to arrive."
Anderson thought about it and sent down his orders, "Get the supernova programs ready. The rest will follow me to the front lines."
Anderson stood up and put his helmet on. Billions of warriors came out from their spaceships and gathered in groups of millions. Thousands of system sized avatars emerged. They were a mix of different colours, five to be exact.

The avatars went outside and engaged in close combat with the Devil, trying to keep it in bay.
The mana in the surroundings shook and laws trembled. The battle was extremely ferocious. The Devil used its tentacles to repel the avatars or entangle them to devour them. The tentacles would ignore space and immediately strike the avatars. They were both illusionary and real. Whatever it touched would begin to dissipate.
The avatars would blink to dodge the tentacles and attack. They would heal the injured or try to cause mutations to the tentacles. They would clash with the tentacles directly. They were extremely fast while they seemed to predict what the tentacles would do next.
The avatars had a hard time dealing with the tentacles even with their numbers. But, they managed to repel it some distance from the shield.
"The spell is ready," came a voice. They received it via the communication devices they carried.
"Retreat!" Ordered Anderson.
The avatars dispersed and the warriors blinked inside the shield.
"Now!" Shouted Anderson.
Immediately, in the area where the devil was, a supernova erupted.
"Again!" Ordered Anderson.
A supernova after a supernova went off. The supernova program not only stimulated a supernova, but it also did not leave any remnant.
The battlefield became silent. Soldiers were ready to receive orders at a moment's notice. They knew it wasn't enough to deal with it.
ROAR!
An angry roar came that used mana as its carrier. The barrier shook noticeably, but didn't receive much damage.
The Devil emerged from the centre of the explosion. Cracks could be seen in its shell. Its tentacles danced even more wildly than before.
The warriors were ready to condense the avatars again. It depended on what the Devil would do.
The Devil turned back and began to flee. The soldiers heaved a sigh of relief. Anderson stood still and watched the Devil retreat. "We will camp here for a week," he said.
The warriors went back to their respective spaceships. A catastrophe was prevented.
**********
The devil flew some distance away from Circinus before it stopped. It planned to recuperate their and attack again.
Suddenly, it felt danger. Several creatures that were about its size appeared and surrounded it. They sealed the space and blocked all of its escape routes.
One more devil fell.

The Infinite Labyrinth
(Story complete - Book 1 "Shanghaied", 2 "Shortcuts", 3 "Secrets" and 4 "Sanctions") It is the 19th century, and war smoulders between England and France. Any hope for a quick end to Napoleon's rampage across Europe ended when the Great Gates opened in 1800. For a fortunate few, the strange world of the Infinite Labyrinth offers opportunities, strange descriptors popping in their minds, informing them of growth, and status beyond that of a mere mortal. The materials and power crystal they bring back foster a new age, both military and civilian. Aether-powered Skyships prowl the skies, as all the great nations blessed by the Gates try to turn the blessings of the Labyrinth into immediate advantages. But for Jonas, an apprentice leatherworker, his friend Ira, and so many Londoners, the fabled ones that walk the Labyrinth are distant heroes, seen from afar. They fell short when their Potential was measured, and they fill their mundane lives with distant dreams. One man wants to break the stalemate. The Tyrant of the Dominion of France, Napoleon Bonaparte, has a plan. Eighteen years after the world changed, he will force it to change again. And when civilians are caught in the fallout, the unthinkable happens. Six people, unqualified, forbidden to ever enter the Labyrinth, find themselves stranded in a distant zone, forcefully turned into Professionals. They know little of what that means, but they have to figure out the rules that are now their lot, for they have little hope to escape their predicament otherwise. They need to understand what the descriptors in their minds mean, what each of the strange piece of gear waiting in treasure chests behind terrible guardians can bring them. They have to become Professionals on their own and rejoin the Empire. They will figure out their new lives one way or another. But will there be an Empire waiting for them when the Gates re-open? Caught in a clash of empires and high tiers, they will do what little they can. They will step up and do their best. One way or another. The Infinite Labyrinth is a slice-of-life litRPG adventure set in a real historical setting. It's a hard, crunchy litrpg. Expect blue boxes everywhere, and the system itself is very mathy. It started life as a serial. I prepared some proper worldbuilding, with enough details and background for lots of different potential story arcs, but as I wrote, I realized the main story needs to have a definitive end. So, there are four books in total, for a bit under 1500 pages, plus additional side stories, and even maybe a sequel one day. The Gore tag was added as a precaution because there are a few scenes with some light gore.
