“Takumi… Where do you think you’re going?” Akurai said, looking him in the eye.
“... I…. I am leaving.” Takumi replied.
“And why is that?” Akurai asked.
“Because… My friends need me.” Takumi answered.
“Your family needs you, too.” Akurai said.
“I know… But they have you, or Kirakuma.” Takumi explained.
“Those five… We grew a bond together… You could almost say were brothers.” Takumi continued.
Akurai made eye contact with Takumi.
“If you want to leave… I won’t hold you back.” Akurai said.
Takumi’s eyes lightened up. As he nodded.
“Thanks, old man…”
When he told me that… He reminded me of Matteo…
I had no other choice…
Maybe it’s time to visit you, again…

Ukato pulled the van doors open.
“Go, go, go!” Ukato shouted.
They all grabbed all the money they could, filling up 10 bags full of money.
They all ran back to the car and Rikishi reversed it, driving out of the wall.
Just when they wanted to enter, Ukato froze.
“Do you guys… Hear that?” Ukato asked.
Slowly the sound of a speeding motorcycle drove closer to them.
“...Is that?- !” Just as Kuruka was asking, a motorcycle ramped over them, with Takumi jumping out.
Their eyes lightened up, as Takumi landed on his knee.
Takumi slowly stood up, looking at everyone.
“Yo, I arrived… Just as you predicted.” Takumi said, smirking.
The others smiled back, as they all entered the car.
Rikishi slammed his feet on the gas pedal once again, driving straight to the highway.
“With this highway we’ll go past the bridge, after we go through the bridge, they won't be able to catch us anytime soon.” Ukato explained.
“Okay let’s go- !” Nokado was shouting, until suddenly an explosion occurred behind them.
They all turned, in complete shock.
Suddenly they noticed another big, armored, van driving their way.
Someone climbed up from the van and started to fire at their car.

Tado noticed, those were the girls from the Seppuku clan.
Rikishi had noticed too from his rear mirrors.
“Oi, those are from the Seppuku clan we robbed once.” Rikishi explained.
Takumi stood up, climbing onto the rooftop, he also grabbed a assault rifle with him.
The car drove closer, as Kimoto and Takumi made eye contact.
“Finally… I get to kill you!” Kimoto shouted.
“My apologies, I don’t plan on dying here!” Takumi shouted back.
They aimed their weapons at each other.
“Now...” Takumi mumbled.
“Die!” They both shouted at the same time, pulling the trigger.
Sudden the sounds of a chopper arrived.
Ukato noticed it were the people of the Byakuya clan.
The people on the side of the chopper started to fire.

“So… That is what is going on...” Kirakuma mumbled.
Akurai had explained what happened and where Takumi is.
Kirakuma walked to a coffee machine and grabbed a cup of coffee.
‘’Takumi… Nokado, Kuruka, Ukato, Rikishi and Tado…’’
‘’Everyone knows…’’
‘’deep inside…’’
‘’it’s impossible to leave the city like that…
‘’Yet you guys go for it…’’
Kirakuma smirked.
‘’...But.’’
‘’I kept looking from the common distance, but for this one…’’
“.... I trust you, Takumi. Get out of here.’’
Kirakuma grabbed the remote control, as he turned the TV on.
His eyes lightened up.
“A- Akurai, get over here!” Kirakuma screamed.
Akurai was squatting down next to a grave, as he heard the scream.
He walked and what they saw on TV was unimaginable.
Their eyes lightened up…

Takumi’s eyes widened up, as he and Kimoto both went out of ammo.
There were over ten police cars driving after them, and a news chopper was following them too.
Takumi jumped back inside the car.
“W- What do we do now?” Takumi asked.
“I don’t know.” Nokado replied.
“...Guys, not to make it worse, but we won’t make it like this!” Rikishi followed up, completely scared.

Tado was quiet, as his eyes lightened up.
He had a plan…
“G- Guys-” “What if we...” Tado got interrupted again.
His voice wouldn’t go over the others.
Tado looked at his surgical mask, slowly reaching for it.
His hand was shaking, he was still scared.
But…
He slowly took off his mask, suddenly shouting:
“G- Guys, I have a plan!!”
The others turned to him, smirking.
Tado’s face suddenly turned red, but he smiled back.

Kimoto took cover back inside their van and looked to the others.
“What are they planning?” Kimoto asked.
Akihiro was driving, as she shrugged.
“We’ll have to wait, I guess.” Kimoto said, taking a seat next to Akihiro.
Suddenly their voices could be heard.
“W- Why do I have to this!?” Kuruka asked.
“Because you haven’t done anything, yet.” Tado replied.
“W- What?! You haven’t too!” Kuruka replied.
“Oi, you two, just shut up and do it!” Takumi said.
“O- Okay, fine!” Kuruka replied.
“Ready?” Tado asked.
“...Yes.” Kuruka replied.
“All, right… But say something cool with it!” Tado mumbled, as the cabin of their car slammed open.
“NOW! Say something cool!” Tado shouted.
Kuruka stood up on the cabin, having two machine guns in his hand.
Everyone’s eyes widened up.
“C- Catch these bullets, you pieces of shi- !!!” He pulled the trigger of both machine guns without finishing his sentence.
The recoil pushed him back, and he leaned on the back of the cabin.
“D- Damn it all!” Kuruka shouted, tearing up.
He started to hit all the vehicles in front of them.
Akihiro drove the car into an alleyway, barely dodging the bullets
The other police cars stopped driving.
Kuruka then aimed to the chopper with the Byakuya clan members.
The chopper stopped going after them and flew off.
They drove straight to the bridge, but the bridge was folding up.
Takumi’s eyes widened up, as he turned to Kuruka.
“Oi! Close the cabin, NOW!” Takumi shouted.
Kuruka turned, as the machine gun was out of ammo.
“Why- OH!” Kuruka stopped talking as his eyes widened up.
“T- Take cover!!” Rikishi screamed.
He quickly closed the cabin door.
The car used their side of the bridge as a ramp, and their eyes lightened up.
Somehow, they weren’t that scared...
Everyone in the car, had forgotten their fear and their expression turned into a big smile.
This smile got even bigger when they landed on the other side of the bridge.
“W-... We did it!” Nokado shouted.
They all started to the cheer in the van as they drove away…
- - - - -
Kirakuma was looking at the TV, as the news chopper had recorded them driving away.
Akurai was back at the grave, but Kirakuma was still looking.
“T- They made it...” Kirakuma said.
“Thank god...” Kirakuma mumbled.
His smile… slowly became sad, as he was tearing up…
“... Thank god, thank god, thank god.” Kirakuma kept mumbling.
He slowly wiped his tears off from his face…

Rin walked through the street, as she ended up in front of the pieces of dirt that was left of The Orphan.
She looked at the ‘’For Sale’’ sign, as her eyes widened up.
The ‘’For Sale’’ sign has been replaced with a ‘’Sold’’ sign.
Rin looked to the people working at the place were The Orphan first was.
“Sir, do you know who bought this?!” Rin shouted to one of the workers.
The worker looked up, and pointed to Rin.
Rin was confused.
Suddenly she heard multiple footsteps, who had stopped behind her.
Rin slowly turned.
“...Yo.” One of the men said.
Rin’s eyes lightened up, as she followed up with tears in her eyes.
“Y- You guys...” Rin said.
“... Welcome back.”

CW: Contains mildly graphic scenes of violence/death, topics of unwanted pregnancy/abortion, scientific experimentation on sapient beings, depression/suicide, grief, and trauma. The tone of this fiction is often dark and distinctly dystopian in lighter shades of Margaret Atwood, though where there is darkness there is always hope and light. On Hiatus Until September When the School Year Begins and Mom This story takes a considerable amount of time and mental energy to complete. I thought I had enough backlog and time to post it as a serial while COVID kept my child home from school, but it turns out while I can quickly write other pieces, I cannot produce the quality I need with this one at an acceptable rate. We'll resume in September when my days are much freer. Thank you for your patience and stay tuned for a different storytelling romp more suited for a serial platform in the meantime.
