《One Piece: The New Age》Pogo D. Shuttle

A distant wind was calmly ushered in by the sea current. A seagull took the focus of the scene as it flew over a distant sailing ship with a wooden frame and a jolly roger depicting it as pirate branded.
"Take these boxes down, we've got plenty of beri for the coming days!" An ugly looking man said. He had black hair that flowed back into a tangled mess, his encroaching beard resonated all the way down to his rectangular chin. Black eyes, black hair, dark skin. It was none other than the ruthless Fujitora Fox, a 2,000,000 beri wanted pirate who had raided some marine ships in the East Blue.
A few meters away was the sinking marine vessel, lit up in flames and diverging its hull to the deep bottomless pit of the ocean. Set off the coast of Dawn Island, the hero of this tale arises. Under the melancholy laughter of pirates, let’s zoom in on Dawn Island’s sandy beach.
More specifically, Foosha Village. The playful banter of six young men can be heard throughout the wooded forest. Some were in their early teens, and presumably Pogo, the oldest of the bunch.
“Damn you pirates! I’ll take you down!” A blonde headed boy screams throughout the forest. His name was Ortis B. Herald, a seventeen year old friend of Pogo’s. He had a wooden stick, carved into a flintlock, step by step he searched for the other boys who were playing the pirates team.
Enter the two behind Ortis. The thirteen year old Ryuke, and the fifteen year old Tibo. Both had similar brown hair to pain their part. Ryuke was a little bit more timid, as he dodged the vines in the forest.
A crunch of leaves and the perpetrators have been found, at the end of Ortis’s wooden barrel is the frame of Pogo D. Shuttle, Edric H. Akira, and Gato Kilgore. Edric and Gato were both sixteen, and Pogo was eighteen. Of course, all of these names would become pertinent to history, because Pogo has always basked in the limelight.

“Shit!” Pogo rolled from Ortis’s sights, and then dashed in between the tree line--hitting a tree in the process, his arms and legs trembling as his back made contact with the ground. A worm crawled over his cheek as Ortis shadowed over Pogo. “Bang.” He said with a smile, “Pogo, you’re always so bad at this. Who made you the leader of the pirate group? Bahhahaa! We should have learned by now.” He said with a smile, jeering his hand out for Pogo.
Pogo smiled, “You might as well give up on the idea of belittling me...because I’m going to become the king of the pirates!” He placed his hands on his hips in a sneering fashion. Ortis simply crossed his arms.
“If you’re going to become the king of the pirates, I might as well become an admiral of the sea to stop you! Bahahahaa!” His occasional laughter dried out the moment, and revitalized the mood into a prosperous and warming moment.
“Then I’ll see you on the high seas friend!” Pogo ran out from the forest and back into Foosha Village. It was time to finally unveil his plan to his friends, as they followed along. Pogo, Ortis, Ryuke, Tibo, Edric, and Gato, these were the names of the six boys who would eventually become renowned for their own deeds on the high seas.
Let's tell a story, shall we?....

Carus - Libertas
participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge and also having a go at NaNoWriMo this November. This was a first draft published as it was written for Nanowrimo November 2020. A little rough around the edges, I hope to come back and edit at some point, and then continue the story on. In the grand scheme of things Elias was nothing special. Which was why he was surprised by a random company on a new colony planet buying out his contract. That was the problem with the large companies that ruled the colonies, once they owned your contract, they owned you. Imagine the greater surprise when he learnt that the new company held the promise of freedom. Not from the constant battle against the Swarm that were also trying to claim the colony planets for their own. Nor from the Crust, the mysterious substance that covered the same planets and held the resources they all fought for. No, the freedom from being oppressed by those with more power and to finally decide where to go and where to set down roots and call home.

The Twelve
In a world marred by the supernatural, Japan suffers from its own fair share of evil and demonic disasters, with generations of shamans known as Onmyoji protecting their homeland from these forces of evil. Capable of wielding magic and using spirits of their own, these shamans were not only skilled in battle, but also divination. However, they were unable to correctly predict Japan's loss in World War Two, and suffered the punishments that followed. Persecuted and torn apart by infighting, the Onmyoji reunited under the banner of the Tsuchimikado clan, descendants of Abe no Seimei, one of the greatest Onmyoji to ever live. The Onmyoji began to rebuild and to regrow. Ren is the sole heir to the Tsuchimikado family, but has been unable to practice Onmyodo ever since his birth, even though he possesses the greatest ability in the family. But when disaster befalls his family, Ren has nobody to turn to, and no idea how to use his powers. As he journeys to escape the same fate his family faced and attempts to learn how to use his powers, there is only one question on his mind; as the Tsuchimikado heir, how can he save the Onmyoji... from themselves? ---------------------------------------------- note from author: I'm writing this based loosely on the very real theories of Onmyodo, and so my writing may not be a truthful or accurate depiction of Onmyodo or other related areas, such as religion, for instance. That is why, while depicted in the real world, events that happen may seem unrealistic and it may be easier to imagine it as a parallel universe that is the same as ours, but with slight differences so that my possible errors will be easier to overlook. Sorry, and thanks!
