《Abyssmal Downpour》Chapter 4 ... that lead to first loss.

With his body comparable to tattered rags, his mind to a flinching candle flame, Karl was now faced with utterly hopeless circumstances. The blow dealt by the enormous pincered gorilla was infinitesimally closer to being fatal. Even after relying on the violet moss to heal half of the damage, he knew he couldn't persist for much longer.
This plunging strike was launched earlier when he had used the scythe to onslaught the apes. It exploited the left out hole in his guard. Such detailed ambush, so much so that he wondered if everything until now was planned to ensure it's success.
He cursed his naiveity for blindly believing that he was the one in control of battlefield. This feeling of being played with was an emotion he hated from his guts.
Ironically ,now he appeared like puppet being controlled by the moss. Unfortunately the moss was getting sluggish with passing time. Because the Pico chip arrangement had partially disintegrated, as an aftermath of the blow. His conditions were similar to that of a moving object for a veteran's target practice.
"Gruuuuuaaaaaahh"
The frightening sight of a 15 metered long primal letting out a fearful howl, sent shivers down his spine. A horde of about 200 scorpions which appeared to be on standby went to motion. This proved that the fight earlier was merely to test his strength.
Karl coundn't possibly see a way out of this situation. Surrendering meant death upon torture by razor sharp pincers, living meant pointlessly trying to suppress despair and the moss didn't want him dead. Even if he didn't wanted to play along in the fight between moss and crystallized beasts, he was still grateful to the moss for saving him.
The newly arrived reinforcements , completely made evading impossible. It was even more difficult because the limited amount of violet moss. The spaces were fewer, the coordination tighter and formation appeared about hundred times stronger.

Karl once again, temperorarily stabilised his dimly fluctuating mind for the purpose of increasing the strength of moss. This was his only bet now. Although he didn't want to think about it, Karl knew by doing this there was a possibility that the violet moss will abandon him, leaving him to death. But still he had been touched by the action, it showed earlier. He owed his life to it and if after gaining more sentience, the moss wanted to betray him then let it be.
.
For the purpose increasing moss's strength,he mixed the mutated violet moss with original colourless one in the between the voids of pico chip formation. Then he expanded their shared consciousness to the regular moss and suppressed any sentience already present.
It resembled the act of establishing the hierarchy in a country's army by its king.It was...success.
Though it doesn't always as undergo smoothly as it did this time.
A war between land and it's inhabitants was occuring in this dimly violet area.To a spectator Karl may appear as a warrior trying to bring about revolution,by fighting on his own against an army of apes, but the ambush earlier had left him in an completely distorted state of mind.He was afraid of fighting any longer and was using the moss to just evade the oncoming attacks. He needed time to rehabilitate his deeply shaken mind which he couldn't find in this highly chaotic war.
As if seeing through this, the gorilla stopped it's movements and focussed it's gaze on Karl. Then it projected itself in upward direction. Karl knew what was coming again.
Unless both Karl and moss were taken out at the same time the battle would drag on for much longer. The massive gorilla had decided to destroy the terrain in a single blow ,taking both Karl and the moss out by separating them. Instinctively Karl decided to match up to the blow by using all the moss to form a phenomenon resembling luminous hailstorm.

The pressure this action put on his brain made him repeatedly cough mouthfuls of blood. It was like his brain was continuously being smashed by a truck. He desparately tried to recall all the happy memories of his life. The hailstorm condensed towards the direction ape was trajected to land.
"Clank"
An earthshaking sound of metals colliding was heard. The exchange just now destroyed the the claw of Gorilla and as for Karl ,his heart was beating ever so slowly. The rest of the monkeys have survived the shockwave due to the exchange by forming sphere like clusters.
The Gorilla used his other pincer to cut through the hailstorm and plunged on Karl. It crushed him with its feet and used it's breath to crystallise him.
With his heartbeat stopped, his body in a crystallised state, his mind slowly fading, it was obvious that he had lost the war.

8 97The Final Test
Earth was overtaken by the Calumnia ten years ago and if it weren't for the alien Occisio race who saved the remnants of humanity, Indi's race would have gone extinct. Now, at the age of sixteen, Indi and the other surviving children are about to complete their training and return to Earth to kill the monster that destroyed their world and killed their parents. However, the children on the Occisio's spaceship have been dismissed one by one in training tests and only a few of them remain. Will Indi prove himself skilled enough to become a soldier? Or will he fail humanity as his parents did? This short story (in 13 parts) is a love letter to fans of Ender's Game and Maze Runner. (I may eventually turn this into a novel but for now, I hope you enjoy this 10,000 word story about hope and overcoming one's weakness.) [This story will appear on other websites as well, such as Wattpad and Royal Road.]
