General Marker hadn’t been as mad as Rabbit thought she would be. Her face remained as stern as the day he met her and Rabbit wondered if the General ever let emotion into hard demeanor. She immediately started advising Rabbit on combat.

“Why did you decide to tackle your opponent?”

“He reminded me of Bear, and Bear would always rush his opponents like that.” Rabbit had a shy look about him.

“That tactic may work well against a human opponent, but against a were-beast you will find they are much more difficult to keep down. I noticed you suffered a wound in the ring. How is that healing up?”

Rabbit reached to his back where the wound had been and felt around, “It’s completely gone. It healed almost instantaneously after I left the ring.”

“I was wondering what would happen with your wounds. When a person drinks the were-beast vial his muscles grow at a reckless rate. This effect also moves over to the skin of the individual and he will momentarily gain super rejuvenation due to the skin and muscles morphing so quickly to become the were-beast. Of course, after the transformation is complete and around the time the were-beast loses his sanity then the effects of super rejuvenation wear off, so it’s odd that you can heal like you took the vial moments ago.”

Rabbit just looked at his hands, not knowing what to say.

“Alright, so it’s down to training. You have one month before your mission and you need to learn to deal fatal wounds if you want to succeed. The easiest place to aim is the neck, but you could also remove the heart. Follow me.”

The two then entered the large samurai style training room and Rabbit began his training.
