《Muddy Dreams》9. Imprisoned in all but name.

Walking down into this fully functioning army town of tents was quite intimidating as well. Before the warriors had been scary purely because they were bad people who enjoyed raping and pillaging. These soldiers howsoever were a very different breed.
These people were killers. plain and simple. They might not enjoy it, unlike the people in the other camp, but they were far more efficient.
The weakest I could feel the gist of with my brand new senses was at least a mid Tier 3, to get a whole army of people stronger than the strongest in my previous town, was terrifying. In turn how strong must the Empire be, if this army is just one of the many in the Hordes and they are still on eking out a living on the fringe of the continent.
I had no idea what I was truly getting into. I would need to start talking to some people who didn't treat me like a waste of air pretty soon to get some real answers.
The primes hadn't stopped talking since we had entered the camp. It was made clear of their stature by the reverence they received on our walk through the camp. People who would have been a hero amongst men in our town, were by the dozen bowing their heads to these seemingly young men. Would I eventually get a similar greeting.
"We have arrived, we will look forward for you to make us proud for discovering you. We bid you adieu."
Whatever that meant they left me in front of a building with an interesting symbol of a Tree as its sigil. I had no idea where I was. Walking in, I felt very self-conscious. I had nothing on my person. Wearing clothes that were bloodstained, dirty and smelled like I had just rolled around in shit for the past two days. Which wasn't too far from the truth.

Catching sight of my raggled appearance, a young girl with straight red hair approached me. I had never seen that hair color before so I was quite captivated.
"How may I assist you sir"
She was very polite that much was for sure.
"emm... I have been placed here by two primes, I was awakened as a Tier 7 recruit"
I managed to stammer out an answer but I was pretty sure it wasn't my best work. Her eyes widened in surprise still however and her attitude immediately changed of one of mild apathy towards me to being very supplicant.
"Of course Sir, that would mean you are part of the Heri training legion, right this way, If you have any use for me please do say the word sir. Any."
she was nice. I followed her for about a minute, through another series of tents, the layout was very well planned, each tent was in a highly defensible cluster, allowing them to retreat and defend in any position they might want. It was something.
Emerging out into a wide open area that I hadn't seen from the top of the valley, that just seemed to appear in the air was quite impressive. They had more defensive enchantments then I realized. If I hadn't had the girl, who hadn't actually introduced herself yet, I would probably be a roast duck by now. Yet another chilling realization.
One of many for today. There was nobody training in the field. Just a single man sitting in a chair at the opposite end of the square.
"What can I do for you, maid?"
His voice seemed to echo throughout my mind as he spoke, despite his distance away.
"I have brought another recruit for the Heri program."
"You are dismissed"
"Yes sir"

She seemed to run away in relief. The mans attention drew to me. with it for the second time in as many days I felt a great force look through my body. It took him a few minutes of consternation.
I then felt my body slowly being moved towards him. even though it seemed like a far distance, it seemed to contract as i got closer.
"You are a good seed, you will go far with our training if you let go of your past."
I was stuck silent. This man had never even seen before, but now he could give me advice that would make me go far. I was still very confused.
"You will be assigned to your cohort within the next few weeks, so for now you will be given a room with some texts for you to study, food will be delivered twice a day, enjoy your time."
Before i could argue and question this mans decisions, the same weird thing happened, within a few seconds I was suddenly stuck in a room that I had no idea how I got there.
It was a small room, a simple bed, desk and bookshelf was all that was there.
Once I regained control I tried to open the door, to no avail. I was stuck here. I would try to escape. But I was very confident that I would not be able to.
Panic began to overtake me. What the hell could I do, I was tuck here in this hellhole, with no opportunity, I was scared.
There was no other options. I had to see what I could do. Walking the few steps over to the bookshelves, their were only five books. Luckily I had been taught how to read but if it had been any other child from our town, they may not have as much luck.
The books themselves were all basic. The Basics of Aura, The history of the Horde, Tactics of War, Pursuit of The true path. Reaching your inner world.
They all seemed like useful knowledge, but I didn't want to be stuck inside for the next few weeks just reading. That would be an even further source of hell. I didn't want to have to deal with my own thoughts about life for who knows how long.
Lying down on the bed, I tried to get to sleep. It would be many hours before I succeeded.

No More Respawns
Synopsis: The first time Allen died, he was forced back into a living hell where death is temporary, and power is all that matters. With evil and depravity as the rule, tragedy becomes comedy and life becomes an act. Only a deal with a shady god can get him back to his old life, but what happens if there’s nothing left to save? Maybe hell isn’t so bad if you have infinite lives… until you don’t. Needless to say, it’s all fun and games until there’s no more respawns. Foreword: This story is meant primarily as an action adventure and secondarily as a dark and nihilistic comedy. It may not be readily apparent in the beginning, but that's what I have planned (I feel the need to emphasize the dark; don’t rage at me if it gets too ‘traumatizing’ or something). I’m going to take my time with this, so it won’t immediately inundate you with doom and gloom. This is also a comedy, remember? On that note, if for some cursed reason you just can't handle either the references or the jokes, I am willing to battle in the comments. Anyway, I still put a significant amount of effort into the system, so I hope you enjoy that part. It is a little bulky, I'll admit to that, but I wanted to try something new and its more fun when there's more depth to it. Regardless, I still have a lot of fun doing math in the middle of writing a fictional story (/s). I also want to see if I can keep from messing up the pacing. Many times, I end up going too fast because I'm afraid of the story getting boring, which tends to ironically have the opposite effect. I'm still learning I suppose; we'll see how things go. Lastly, please leave reviews and comments, they really mean a lot to me and (usually) help me improve considerably. I'll be asking for feedback in the polls and I do still check the old ones from time to time. Notes: The story takes a bit of time to develop; give it time if you're here for drama, grimdark, or antihero. The system is all blue boxes and I'm not half-assing the numbers. Chapters will be between 1k and 2k words usually. I always use the oxford coma, fight me. Might drop if rating falls below 4 stars, idk. It depends on how my life is going. Cover drawn by yours truly in MS paint. (I have skill, I know)
