《The Coin of Fate》Chapter 35 crisis

"The Champion of a God is not only the bearer of the God's image. The Champion is the face, the voice, the defender of God.
The Champion is infused by its God's powers, it can make miracles happen. But, what are miracles? How do they work?
A God can use the strenght of belief of its followers to change the reality to one that is better suited for its followers. Reality change is not easy and Ego will fight those changes. For a miracle to happen a God needs to devote a lot of energy, the God is helped by its image, its domain. A God of nature that tries to make a field grow will have a much easier time than a God of war trying to do the same."
-Bee May, the faery of knowledge
"If you really believe it can happen, a miracle might happen."
Brielle, Micahelle and Kitty arrived to the capital of the Arthus kingdom without problems or interructions, the bear they used as a beast of burden or as a mount, some times both at the same time, was death tired, it was moaning to the three women and hoping they would stop. And stop they did, they walked with the bear in tow to a section of the wall, there were only guards there, no door and no normal people around. Kitty made a sign to one of the guards, the guard saw it and started running towards his superior. The three women were guided to a secret entrance, the bear could not squeeze through it, but a guard took the responsability to bring the tired mount to a stable where it would be fed, watered, washed and it could rest.
The three women walked without an apparent reason through the capital city, they took dark shady alleys, they came inside some house, took a tunnel and came out to a marketplace, then they browsed a little and chatted around, took some fresh fruits. Took those fruits to a bathhouse and the owner showed them to another tunnel. They roamed the capital and its underbelly for almost an hour, when they were sure no one was following them they took the right tunnel and ended up inside the castle.

Kitty stopped a butler and made the same sign that she made to the guard at the walls, the butler nodded and brought the three women to another secret passage.
"Fellow Shadows, here no one will hear us, what made you come here to talk to me in person?"
Said the butler while he took a knee.
"Spymaster." Brielle nodded at him to get up but the butler feigned ignorance. "We have been sent by Thaddeus the Shadowmaster himself." The spymaster gulped and the other knee fell to the ground, his head touched the cold floor too.
"We bear grave news, King's Rest has been invaded by an army, it might be lost this time. The villagers and the shadows will buy some time but the enemy caught us by surprise."
Said Kitty.
"King's Rest cannot be lost!"
Said the spymaster as he jumped to his feet.
"We know, we were isolated, it was the King decision to keep the tomb of the Kings a secret and keep a low profile." Said Brielle bitterly. "The forest fought against us, the capital had no reason to send an army for a single village, the fourth prince was east of us, we sent news with the last caravan to ask for the army to clean up the road, he did not. The horde that invaded King's Rest came from the east, we might have lost the coldstone mines, we might have lost royal blood too."
"My spies and the King's Shadows aren't working as they should, when Thaddeus left the capital to support King's Rest... We lost a guide, a focus." Said the spymaster sadly. "The Arthus kingom is under significant threat."
"What is going on?" Asked Brielle, now angry. "Why were we not informed the kingdom was in danger?"

"We tried to solve it ourselves, after we discovered our poor King was poisoned, we tried our best to find what was happening, how someone could infiltrate our web."
Cried the spymaster.
"Our King was poisoned?"
Whispered Kitty from behind the old butler, he did not even notice her move. The spymaster did not even notice the dagger in her hands, not until he felt the cold blade on his throat.
"What is going on?"
She asked.
"The King is dying, the queen is dead, my brothers and sisters are being picked off left and right. Only my second sister and me remains."
A young voice starled the people in the room.
"Princess!"
They cried at the same time and knelt.
"Eh, not for long, I'm just a Shadow now. The assassins did not expect the third princess to be a strong warrior, they dared assault her inside the training grounds. She killed ten assassins, the other fled or died trying. The entire elite army in the hellfire desert was inspected. We discovered that the Federation of Blades has infiltrated our kingdom heavily."
The fifth princess said sadly.
"If they got even King's Rest... It might be too late for us."
"Don't give us up for dead yet. We are here now, the Shadows from King's Rest are trained by Thaddeus himself, the army has been cleansed. We just need to clean up the castle, then the capital, then the kingom." Brielle interrupted the young girl. "We do need to send help to King's Rest, right now!"
Sadly the winter this year fell early, it took everyone in the entire World by surprise, just after the summer, after not even a month snow started to fall. It did not stop for months.
The good news for the Arthus kingdom was that no one could move when the snow fell like that, the bad news is that no information could travel.
The village was on its own, they could do nothing but hope. But, they had a mission to accomplish so the two women got to work, they moved from Shadow to Shadow, they kidnapped them, they tested them, if they passed they released them. If they failed... Many disappeared from the capital in the following months, only to be found when the snow retreated.
As the winter came to an end Brielle and Kitty had wrestled the control of the capital, now the fifth princess was the one wearing the burden of the crown. It was time to go back, to see what happened to the village, to see what happened to their friends and family. After that? Get the Arthus kingdom back to its feet and then, well the Federation of Blades made an enemy they should not have.

His eyes had turned bloodshot and his hands shook with rage. “The first thirty…” “Shut up!” Genzo bellowed “How dare you help these disrespectful gaijin?” Flecks of spit and madness flew from his face, his fist raised ready to strike. But Emi did not flinch, instead she was about ready to continue when Yuma Takeuchi interrupted her. “Uchida, please,” her sweet sounding words could melt ice. “I think we will have a better chance of getting home if we all work together.” When she glanced up with her sleepy looking eyes at Genzo Uchida he deflated visibly. “Were not getting home.” Uchida said coolly. “Group summoning, large, that puts us in the 60 series. No one came to greet us after five minutes of arrival. That leaves scenarios 68 and 69. In scenario 68 there is something that binds the large group together; they are all classmates or a single family. But thanks to the gaijin” he spit out the word “I think we are scenario 69 with no way home.” Ikko Inoue’s eyes went wide, while Katsukno and Hayata started muttering to themselves. Tim took on a serious look and rubbed his scruffy chin. Emi maintained her stoic expression while trying to find something to refute. McKenzie glanced at Randall and giggled. Randall took the prompting of his teammate and followed up by approaching Genzo. “Uh, so we are in a sixty-nine?” “Yes.” Replied Genzo with the seriousness of someone who’s life was about to end. McKenzie covered her mouth and snickered. “You and me, were stuck in a sixty-nine situation?” Randall pushed with a grin. “Yes, we are all stuck in a sixty-nine scenario together!” Genzo retorted in anger. McKenzie fell on her butt laughing. “What the hell is so funny?” Demanded Genzo, whose face had turned red. “It’s a problem with the automatic translation.” Retorted Tim. Randall, who seemed unable to quit started in again “So, about this sixty-ni…” Genzo interrupted Randall with a swift punch to the face. But, because of their height difference it was a bit of an uppercut that left Randall rattled. Tim and Ikko moved to step in between the two, but Genzo showed no further hostility. Instead he just stared at his clenched fist with such intensity it grabbed the attention of the room. “I unlocked a skill.” He said bluntly. ***************************** This is not a light novel, but people who like light novels should enjoy the themes of this book. ***************************** A Map of the Region
