《Megane Saga》Chapter 4 - Derry bread

HANA’S POV
“Hana, the spell will completely be based on your imagination. Imagine the spell you want to create, Imagine the flames you want to release.” Said teacher Mavlia, my teacher in magic.
“Y-yes teacher.” I said as I closed my eyes and imagined the output desired. A flame, a flame...it’s orange and it burns? “Fire ball!”
Small flames came out of my hand and fell to the ground before dissipating. I failed?
“Hana, imagine a bigger flame. Imagine it engulfing everything you see and burning everything it touches.” Said teacher Mavlia.
“Y-yes teacher.” Bigger flames, bigger flames, it engulfs everything...like pacman? T-then it burns everything, so everything turns orange right? “F-fire ball!”
A spherical flame bigger than a man appeared on my hands, and it had a mouth like pacman.
“That’s it! Now release it!”
“Go pacman!”
The flames moved forward while it’s mouth continuously opened and closed like pacman and the moment it hit something, it dispersed.
“...Hana, again, from the top.” Said teacher Mavlia while looking a bit disappointed.
“Y-yes teacher!” I’ll do my best! I’ll become stronger and help the people in need!
RIKA’S POV
“Ok, Rika this time hit this” Said Graz, my instructor, as he threw a piece of wood in the air.
I threw a dagger, which hit the center of the wood.
“Nice, next this one.” He threw another piece of wood, which I easily hit.
It has been three days since we were summoned, yet our training only started today since the three of us needed time to cope up with our current situation. It’s good that they let us do that but I still can’t handle the fact that we have to fight for them.
Yeah, we became heroes and we did get abilities, but in the end we still have to kill right? It may be demons, but it doesn’t change the fact that we have to kill. Sigh, do we really have to do it?
Sigh, and why aren’t they thinking about Shizuka? Even if she’s not a friend she’s still a fellow japanese, we can’t just forget about her. She’s still just a normal school girl how is she supposed to survive alone in this world? Even if we’re heroes, we still have people that guide us, but what about her?

Sigh, it seems I’m the only one thinking about these things? Looks to me that Hana and Shun has already decided to stay in this world, but I still haven’t! How can I when my siblings might be making a mess in the house!
Is Ren doing the laundry right? Is Eren eating properly? Is Mika studying for her entrance exam? Is Haruto still locked up on his room playing eroge? I DON’T KNOW!
“Ok, this time I’ll throw three at the same time.”
Shut up! I’m busy thinking!
The moment he threw the pieces of wood, all three got hit by daggers.
“Nice, you’re future is a bright one, now try hitting four.”
Why did I have to be summoned?
SHUN’S POV
I’m swinging my sword continuously, making every swing stronger and stronger.
“Stronger! Swing like you’re trying to rip your arms off!” Said Philia, my instructor and the second princess of Arthass.
“Yes ma’am!”
“Are you gay or something? Louder!”
“YES MA’AM!”
“That’s the spirit, now go break your arms!”
“YES MA’AM!”
This is harder than I thought, but it’s fine. If everything was easy then it wouldn’t be fun. All the heroes I’ve read about have gone through hard trainings to be strong, so it’s only natural for me, a hero, to go through this.
I’ll become stronger, and stronger, and stronger, and I’ll save the world from the evil demons. I’ll save the humans, I’ll save the world, I’ll become a hero!
But I have to kill, can I kill? Yes, everything I do is justified, I’m doing everything for the sake of the humans. What I do is right, what I do is justice. There’s no need to hesitate.
Are you looking at me now? Your efforts to save me from the kidnappers wasn’t wasted. I’m going be just like you, a hero.
“You getting distracted, FOCUS!”
“YES MA’AM”
SHIZUKA’S POV
Running in the forest, wearing a plated white shirt, with brown pants, with a sword on my waist and a bag on my back, with my treasured glasses was I, looking for something interesting. It’s been two days since I left the capital and I’m now in the middle of Feter Forest.
I’m still 2 days away from Valdan city, and I can’t wait to see what I’ll find there. I can freely act there since the other three heroes are still at the capital. I don’t know why I’m hiding my personality from them though.

While running, I sensed movements a few meters in front of me. As I got closer, I lowered my speed and saw a group of caravans. I went closer and called their attention and once they saw me, they let me join them. I could travel faster on my own, but joining them should be more interesting.
There’s a total of 6 caravans with two horses pulling each. There are 8 knights with them acting as guards. I’m now sitting inside one of the caravans with a young man.
“I understand that we’re still in the safe zones, but don’t travel alone again ok? What if you encounter dangerous monsters?”
I’ll decimate them. “I’ll run away?”
The man slapped his forehead as he shook his head. “Young lady, please, just find someone to join you in your travels. I’m sure there are lots who are willing to accompany you.”
“Yes, yes, I understand. Do you have any food?”
“Don’t change the subject!”
At this point, there’s no need to tell him my strength yet. Unless bandits show up or the whole caravan becomes my enemy, I’ll act normally. For now, identify!

Nothing out of the ordinary...
While eating bread that Andas gave me, I sat at the edge of the caravan and enjoyed the view. The trees we separated since we were in the path for caravans, there were small creatures taking a peak at us, and the other caravans at the back waved at me once they saw me.
Once I finished the bread, I looked back and said. “More”
“Don’t ask like it’s free, this are my merchandise...”
“I’ll pay, I have money.” I said while taking a gold coin from my bag.
“I-is that so? Don’t you have copper coins? It’s only 10 copper coins each...”
“Give me every bread you have, and keep the change.” I said while throwing the gold coin to him. “By the way, what’s this bread called?”
“Sigh, it’s derry bread. Young lady, you shouldn’t act like this anymore ok? People will think you have more money and might target you.” He said while pushing a box full of derry bread.
As I bit a part of the bread, the taste of sweetness entered my mouth. It wasn’t just sweetness, there’s something there that’s addicting, I just can’t put my hand on it. Oh well, doesn’t matter, I have a whole box.
While eating, the man called me and said. “Here, the change, that’s exactly 95 silver coins and 10 copper coins.”
“I’m satisfied with the food so keep the change.”
“Take it, I have my own pride as a merchant so just take it.” He said as he placed the pouch of coins to my side. “Sigh, you really need to find someone to accompany you fast. I can’t imagine what would happen if you keep traveling alone.”
After that I continued to eat while watching at the edge of the caravan.
The caravans stopped to camp out an hour before it became dark. They started cooking and stuff while I sat on the ground and watched the sky. No matter which world I stay at, I always find the night sky relaxing.
While looking at the sky, I sensed a movement. It was to far from the camp and the caravans so it was from a different party. I observed its movement and it seems to be observing the caravans.
I went to Andas and said. “I’ll be off somewhere, I’ll come back later.”
“Where are you going?”
“Don’t worry, I won’t go too far.”
“Sigh, it’s dangerous for a girl to walk around in the forest at night, I’ll go with you.”
“You can’t.”
“What do you mean I can’t?”
I’ll follow someone that might be a bandit, I might even kill him. “I need to pee.”
His got flustered and said. “A-a young lady like you shouldn’t say that with a straight face!”
“What do you want me to say then?”
“Sigh, forget it, just don’t go too far ok?”
I walked away after that and when I was sure none could see me, I dashed to the one observing the caravan. I appeared behind him and pointed my sword on his neck. “Why are you observing us?”
Even though he’s surprised, he still tried to pull something from his pocket, but he couldn’t since his arm fell to the ground. “Answer me or you’ll lose another limb.” Identify.

Cary Simms: The Fairy Mushroom Forest
From a young age, Cary Simms knew that she wasn't like the other boys her age. She didn't know why or how that was, but it seemed apparent to the bullies of her school. They would often call her names, chase after her after school, and beat her up when they could catch her. Her only protection, besides escape, was in the words of the Good Book. But that was before she stumbled into the supposedly haunted house at the end of her street. When a mysterious ring and a drawing on the back wall of the post office opened up a whole new world for her, things quickly went from weird to scary. At a new school, in a new world, surrounded by people who had access to magic, all Cary could think of was how to escape the witches that had her trapped there. It was only having her best friend by her side that gave her any comfort at all. ***This is my first attempt at a middle grade book, and would appreciate feedback.
