《Megane Saga》Chapter 3 - Enjoying the city

Walking along the streets, wearing a blue dress, with my school bag and the pouch I got from the king, was I, looking for a place to get information.
Now that I’m out of the castle, I need to proceed with my plans; Talking to the demon race and getting their side of the story.
If they’re attacking without any good reason, I’ll kill them all and gain levels, if not, I’ll go to other countries and let the two countries battle it out on their own, I don’t have any responsibilities after all.
Not knowing where to go, I searched for an innocent looking man to ask for directions. “Um, sir can I get a bit of your time?”
“Y-yes, what is it?”
“Do you know the best place where I could gather information?”
“What kind of information are you looking for? If it’s normal ones you should go to the information guild right beside the adventurer’s guild, if it’s something confidential you have to find an elite information broker.”
“Um, where is the information guild?”
“It’s quite far from here, since I don’t have anything to do yet, want me to guide you there?”
“If it’s ok with you, then yes, please guide me.”
Just like that, he guided me all the way to the information guild which is really far just like he said. I bowed and thanked him for helping me and went straight to the guild.
To my surprise, the inside was crowded. I just went with the flow and stood at a random line and awaited for my turn. The people inside were mostly men, and the smell of sweat permeated the whole guild. Urg, I forgot how low the sanitary level of the people of these worlds were.
When my turn finally came, I quickly asked the male receptionist behind the desk. “What’s the fastest way to the demon country?”
The whole floor became silent when they heard me, and the receptionist asked. “I didn’t hear it right, what was it again ma’am?”
“What’s the fastest way to the demon country?”
“Young lady, why do you want to know that?” Said the man who was behind me.
I looked back. “What is it to you?” I looked at the receptionist again and said. “Tell me, I don’t care if the information is expensive, I have money.”
I placed the pouch filled with gold coins at the counter and opened it so the receptionist could see.
After that, I got a map with a line drawn that indicates the path I need to take, at the cost of 1 silver coin.

There’s no need to rush now that I know where to go, and since this might be the last time I’ll see the city, might as well enjoy it. Oh, and I should buy clothes for combat, I can’t go on dressed like this.
“Missy, I heard you wanted a shortcut to the demon country.” Said the obviously suspicious individual, who I ignored.
I continued walking to find places where I could enjoy, but another suspicious person showed up. “Young lady, do you wa-“
“No thank you.” I said as I ignored him.
The day continued with me meeting suspicious people, it’s obviously my money they are after. Although I don’t need it, I don’t have a reason to waste it on things that won’t benefit me.
I was able to buy a traveler’s bag, two sets of adventurer’s clothing, and a sword, all at the price of 10 silver coins. I also sold everything except for my glasses and the key chain on my bag, and got 5 gold coins from it. I’m sure it could have gone higher, but this should be good enough.
Once that was over, I searched for places that could please my tongue. I don’t really need to eat, but just because I don’t need to doesn’t mean I don’t want to.
In contrast to the cheap items I bought, I went to an expensive store.
“What do you want to order?” Said the waitress who stood near me.
“Everything that you could offer.” I said.
“E...um, t-that should be 83 silver coins and 45 copper coins.”
I took a gold coin from the bag and gave it to the waitress. “Keep the change.”
“T-thanks ma’am.” Said the waitress as she lowered her head.
The best way to taste everything is to eat everything, that’s the logic I’ve been following for a long time now. Even if I eat it all, my weight won’t increase because of my satiety ignore passive.
While waiting for my food, waiters came to my table and they were showing more skin compared to the other waiters. Shortly after that, a man calling himself the manager showed up. Sigh, they’re intentions are too easy to read...
“Do you want some music ma’am?” Said the manager while rubbing his hands.
“As long as it’s good to the ears then yes, it won’t cost me anything right?”
“Yes, yes, it’s free just for you ma’am.”
The made some space in front of me and musicians came over. The two asked me if I wanted them to do anything, so I told them. “Stay quiet and don’t bother me.”

After a few minutes of waiting, my food finally came. I tasted everything first and told the waiters beside me to eat those that I didn’t like. Ah, the food tasted good, but my mother’s cooking was better.
___
“Come again ma’am.” Said the manager while waving at me as I walked out of the store.
The sun has already set by the time I got out, but the city was still bright from the lamps placed around the city. That was good, the food had a good mix of flavors. Now on to the next sto-
“Missy, do you have a moment?” Said the suspicious man that was behind of me.
Another one? They don’t know when to stop do they? I guess I should teach them some lesson before going to another store. “Yes, why?”
“We got the information that you’re looking for, come with me and I’ll show you.”
I already got it a long time ago, and who would follow a suspicious looking man like you? “Ok”
He guided me to a dark alley and just like I thought, there were other people waiting there.
“Hehehe, didn’t your parents tell you not to follow strangers?”
“Where is it?” I asked.
“Looks like you still don’t get it, you’ve been tricked. Now that we’ve surrounded you you’ll give us all your money. Hehehe, and you’ll also play with us a bit, you know, the adult way.”
“No, I meant where are the others that has been following me since morning. A forget it, you guys should be enough.” I said while punching the nearest one. “I planned to just beat you up, but since you dared to mentioned my parents, maybe I should break a limb or two.”
“You bitch! Guys get her!”
The men started running to me, but I lept and landed near the man who said I was a bitch. “Hey, do you guys have families?” I said while snapping the man’s arm.
The men turned around and still ran towards me.
“What do you think would happen if I killed them?” I said while appearing behind the group of men and breaking the limb of the one nearest to me.
They all stiffened from fear, not only from my strength but also from my speech.
“Did you know that if a person is too strong the easiest way to beat him/her is to attack his/her relatives?” I said while breaking another limb.
“Something like that happened to me once, do you want to know what I felt then?”
“P-please forgive me, I didn’t want to do this, they just forced me to join.”
I continued to beat the other men and left the one who begged alone.
“Stand up.” I said while extending my arm to the man.
“T-thank you.” He said while grabbing my hand.
As soon as our hands touched, I broke his hand. “What I hate the most are those that abandon their comrades onces their lives are in danger.”
The man knelt down and cried from pain.
“Hey, look at me.” I said and once he ignored me I added. “Look at me or see your whole family die.”
“P-please, I’m begging you, forgive me, don’t hurt my family, at least not my daughter.”
“So you have a daughter, what’s her name?”
He bit his lips to stop himself from saying it.
“Don’t waste my time, tell me or I’ll kill her.”
“It’s Ania! it’s Ania!”
“What a cute name, I just hope nothing happens to her.”
While crying horribly, he said. “Bleas, nod my daughter.”
“Ok, ok, stop crying.” I said while kneeling down and raising his head so we could see eye to eye. “I won’t do anything to your daughter, but you have to promise me something.”
“I’ll bo id, I’ll bo id, I’ll bo anyding so blea-“
“Shut up! I’m not done talking!” I said while punching the ground.
“Hiiii”
“I don’t want anything about this event to spread ok? If this ever reaches the castle, you know what will happen right? It doesn’t matter who spread it, the moment I hear of this, I’ll hunt you and your family.”
The man repeatedly nodded and after seeing that, I walked away and searched for a good place to eat.
I don’t really care if they spread what I’ve done. None would believe that a lone girl defeated all of them, especially the heroes who have no knowledge about my strength.
It’s just to scare them so that they won’t do it again...Maybe I overdid it a bit. I got too excited since it was my first fight after twelve years. The last one was when I saw a group of men trying to kidnap a child. Arg, my bad habits are starting to come back, if my parents hear about this they’ll disown me...
After that, I went around searching for places to eat and when there’s nothing more to do, I started my journey to the demon country.
