Chapter 11: Mitchiel’s strange Behavior

Mitchiel trained and trained every day. The butlers as well as the maids came to like him more and took care of him better.

They even smile at him sometimes. Everyone was in a better mood, that is if you exclude Mitchiel’s father and sister.

They were completely discontent with Mitchiel’s decision. They could not understand why for heavens’ sake, Mitchiel would want to go to the YAMAC.

They thought Mitchiel was trying to prove himself to them when it wasn’t necessary. They were already happy about his tie with Tymol, and even if the clan and household have to deny it ever happened, they would always keep it in their heart.

That’s what made Mitchiel’s action so strange and unusual.

He had never been this motivated to prove himself since he was a child learning fire magic. It was almost like a mirror image was being reflected from that incident long ago.

Mitchiel’s father and sister were worried sick for Mitchiel.

“Please Mitchiel, please reconsider, we still have some time before the YAMAC, please make Deandre (Mitchiel’s father’s name) and Jocelyne (Mitchiel’s sister’s name) happy” said Mitchiel’s father, adding his own name in the conversation like the third person.

“But father, please understand, this is something I have to do as your son. I cannot stand to be humiliated like this any longer” argued Mitchiel. “This is something I have to do for me, for us, and for the clan. I want to make them regret for ever being mean to me”

“But why go through such lengths? Why?” asked Jocelyne.

“As an aspiring Martial Artist and Wizard, this is something I must do. Please believe in me, father, sister. I will not let you down” said Mitchiel seriously.

Deandre was going to say something back to continue the argument further, but his daughter stopped him. Jocelyne grabbed her father’s arm.

“Father, it’s alright. Let’s believe in him, just like we always had” said Jocelyne.

“But Jocelyne, the YAMAC have a lot of terrifying martial artists” argued Deandre. “Mitchiel will be lucky if he doesn’t get severely injured again”

“Even if I do get severely injured, I just want to fight my hardest, father” explained Mitchiel.

Deandre took one glance at his son’s serious eyes and sighed.

He could see the determination in his son’s face. Even though he knew what hardships his son will have to face, as a father, the best thing he can do is to support his son the best way he can.

“I am not happy with your decision, but if that is your choice, I will support you, my son” said Deandre as he hug his son. “I will see if I can have Reige teach you a thing or two”

“Thank you father and who is Reige?” asked Mitchiel.

The moment Mitchiel asked that question, he could see he made a terrible mistake.

Reige was popular among all the clan members of Minotaur and even though he isn’t a household member, he is a very talented disciple and his stern fairness and unprejudiced mind has given him the nickname of “Mr. Fair-right” because almost all he said was the right fair choice to make.

Even though the Emperor fooled Mitchiel’s father and sister and everybody else for that matter by acting like the real Mitchiel, everyone noticed the change. He acted nicer and showed a lot more respect to everyone than before. He also started to get his life together as well, which was uncharacteristic of Mitchiel.

The question that Mitchiel asked did not passed unnoticed.

“What do you mean who is Reige?” questioned Deandre. “He is Reige Slax, he’s the most talented disciple we have here in Minotaur. If it wasn’t for him our reputation would have fallen by now”

“Unfortunately, Gyphos’s main household ended up having two talented children, Tymol and his older brother. Those two’s talents are something else entirely” continued Jocelyne. “Reige Slax’s rival is Tymol’s older brother, you probably have seen him”

“And don’t forget that bastard is always going on business trips and is always training inside the house” Deandre finish explaining. “That guy got everything, the looks, money, talents and is very smart”

“Wow, now that I think about it, I do know them” laughed Mitchiel awkwardly, realizing that if he said one wrong thing, they might get suspicious even more. “They sure are powerful”

“Yeah, and you will be going against them in the YAMAC, except for probably Tymol’s older brother. I heard he went on a business trip and he might not make it to the YAMAC this year. God might be on your side, Mitchiel, my son” explained Deandre.

“God might really be” said Mitchiel. “Hopefully I will do well. So don’t worry too much”

“We will always worry about you” said both Deandre and Jocelyne.

“I have something to tell the both of you” stated Mitchiel.

“What is it?” asked both Deandre and Jocelyne, their suspicion proving correct about Mitchiel’s strange behavior.

“Father, sister, I have something to confessed” said Mitchiel calmly, deciding he needed to mention something so they won’t get too suspicious. “Ever since I woke up after my battle with Tymol, my memory has been hazy”

“Hazy how? Tell us what you remember?” asked Deandre.

“I remember everything, just not specifics, my memory feels really far away and distant” explained Mitchiel.

“I see” said Jocelyne.

“It’s like all of my memories are under water and far-away to reach, and only when people mention things do they start to resurface though slowly at first” continued Mitchiel.

After hearing that, Deandre and Jocelyne dedicated a couple of hours a day to tell stories to Mitchiel about his childhood and so on.

Thanks to that, Mitchiel knew all the information about his clan, household, and understood the politics of what has been going on. He also understood about his mother and why he hadn’t seen her yet.
