*Yawn*
Keiichi woke up with a tired expression. He hadn't been able to sleep very well, so he was still a little sleepy.
"I think I'll spend this week training." He gave up on going to school, so his schedule was pretty free. He decided to train for 1 week and accumulate points to buy better items. He had no idea of the enemies he would face, so it was best to be prepared. After finishing training, he would talk to Yato.
"Well let's get started."
-
Keiichi spent a week doing daily missions and training. The daily quests also boosted stats. He also purchased system cards to improve his upgrade speed. Daily missions averaged 250 points per day. In total, Keiichi got 1750 points. The missions involved solving puzzles, magical and physical training. He spent more time training his magic; however, he also trained his physique.
"How awesome!" Keiichi looked at his reflection in the mirror with a shocked expression. He had lost a lot of weight after a week of training. His appearance had also improved.
It's still not enough. I need to become a new me.” Despite being pleased with the changes, he still wanted to improve more.
【Points remaining: 1150】
"300 points will be used to pay Yato. I'll keep 850 points." He didn't know what he was supposed to do with the 00 points at the store."
The store had a plethora of items, Keiichi only knew a few items because he didn't have points to buy other items.
"Yato, where are you?" Keiichi called for Yato.
"You've had considerable improvement." Yato said. Keiichi was already used to his sudden appearances.
"Thank you. I have enough points, give me the clue." He felt that he was ready for this already.

"Well, check this out." Yato showed Keiichi the location of a certain location. The screen showed a giant room with several orderly seats.
"What is this place? It looks like an… auction?" Keiichi looked at the screen with a confused expression.
"Yes, it's an auction. This auction is completely unknown to normal people."
"Why? Is there something wrong with this place?"
"Well, do you remember that the man who killed your parents was using supernatural abilities?"
"… was that magic?!" Keiichi was confused when he saw that man using supernatural abilities. He didn't expect there to be people with supernatural abilities in his world.
"No, it's not magic. Only you can use magic in your world. That man was using supernatural abilities."
"What's the difference? Aren't they the same thing?"
"It's similar, but different. Magic is about using mana to accomplish something. That man wasn't using mana—he was using spiritual energy."
"Spiritual energy? Is it similar to mana?"
"Yes, like mana, spiritual energy can also be used as fuel to perform skills. However, although they are similar, they have some differences. Mana is purer energy than spiritual energy, it can provide effects better at performing some skill."
"I see. Mana is energy too, but of superior quality?" Keiichi became more confident in knowing that he had some advantage over his world's people.
"In a way, yes. The mana you know isn't the best kind of energy there is, but it's above average." Yato didn't tell Keiichi everything about energy, because he wasn't ready to know about it yet. There were other types of mana even purer than normal mana—for example, divine mana/divine energy.
"Users of supernatural abilities have different names depending on where they live. Some call themselves Cultivators, Exper, Mutants, etc. In your world, people call themselves Cultivators."

"Cultivators?... I think I've read about it somewhere." Keiichi didn't read many books about it, so his knowledge was pretty limited.
"Cultivators, in general, are people who practice martial or mystical arts to become stronger. They consume pills, herbs, or artifacts to increase their powers. Generally, they use spiritual energy or its variations to accomplish their abilities." Yato gave a brief explanation about cultivators.
"Well… they look pretty strong." Keiichi was a little unsure when he heard Yato's explanation.
"The cultivators in your world are pretty weak, don't worry." In Keiichi's world, Cultivation wasn't something that's been around for millions of years or anything like that, so the cultivators in his world are infinitely weaker than the cultivators Yato knows.
"Well, that's a relief." Keiichi felt more relieved.
"You will have to enter this auction and steal the last item that will be auctioned." Yato said.
"And how will this item help me find my parents' killer?"
"This item has a connection to a certain person. Once you get this item, you can go after that person to get your next clue."
"Well, thanks. I'll get ready."
Keiichi wore dark ninja-like clothes. He had bought this outfit at the store for just 50 points. The clothes had nothing to do with their appearance, but Keiichi thought they were really cool.
【Stitches remaining: 800】
"Well, let's try to buy something useful." Keiichi started searching for items that could help him. He spent time researching until he found an ideal item.
【Invisibility Ring】
Can make the user invisible for 2 minutes.
Requirements: none
Price: 750 points
Note: Does not work against people with high awareness, precognition, etc. Can only be used 1 time.
"It's a good item." He thought this item would be great for him to be able to infiltrate the auction. He wasn't very good at concealment skills, so that might help him. He didn't hesitate to buy the item.
*Sigh!*
"I'm poor again." He only had 50 points now.
"Will you go with me?" Keiichi asked Yato.
"Not." Yato didn't want to interfere with that. He would just watch him. "I wish you luck."
"Tsk! Your words somehow make me shiver." Keiichi left the house and headed towards the auction site. The auction wasn't that far from his house, but it wasn't that close either. He didn't have a lot of time because the auction will start today.

Cutting to Life: an NPC LitRPG (Battle Royale)
Nikola is an NPC in The World of Wills, a video game where players can feel sensations as if they were truly there. She leads a life of bloodshed and murder - that is, until one day she wakes up sapient. Just as she begins thinking real, non-scripted thoughts and making connections, she and the players in the game are told that if they die in the game, they die in real life - and it's time to get killing. But what of Nikola, the emerging AI consciousness? How does she win in a game that can only end in her being wiped from existence at the end of it all? - Updates Mondays and Fridays. Cutting to Life is a slow-burn LitRPG with a villainous (later anti-hero, or maybe still villainous, haha) female lead. It's told from the perspective of Nikola, an NPC within the World of Wills who's become sapient and is now mysteriously able to play the game as a PC. It's quite light for a LitRPG, but the system and stats become more of a focus later when Nikola herself can access them. The story gradually builds into a Battle Royale where the players' lives are on the line (if you die in the game, you die in real life), and only one party of savvy adventurers can win. They'll have to spend their time and stats wisely as dungeons promising rare gear float down from the sky - but is a legendary sword worth killing someone for, knowing they'll stay dead forever? - This story is told in third person, past tense.- This is a slow-burn LitRPG that spends a lot of time establishing its setting and characters, because I believe this will make for a better payoff in the end. As such, the Battle Royale doesn't start until chapter 30 or so.- Chapters are anywhere between 800 words and 3000 words long.- Book cover by Vixeona.Cutting to Life is also being posted on SPB and Scribble Hub.Thank you sincerely for reading.
