《Super Sock Knitter》Chapter 5: Bullies & Bleeding Ears

I went to school the next morning wearing a Finger gun Soseta and an Ice Slipper, they didn't really match art all though but I say "eh whatever" to that, fashion had never been my strong suit I prefer comfort more. Since my transmigration? I think thats what it's called, I've gone to school but I'm a real quiet kid, not going to any of the popular groups of kids and just stay by myself in a corner somewhere. However I seem to have now been seen as a cold person, I mean just because i brush off everything because I think its childish to antagonize some people, how does that make me cold? Shaking my head at the thought I go to my classes.
Boring. Everyday the same old stuff, I am getting the hand of math and science and I am excited to show off my new Soseta, but after a bit of thinking I thought it would be better to not show it off. I can see attention not being great for my situation. Thinking about it I walk into class and sit down waiting for the teacher to come in. As usual it's Mr. Osborne and for my sake I hope we actually talk about gunner history and not actual skills demonstration. Too bad for me as we are. I walk quietly up to the front, but regardless everyone is looking at me in curiousity.
"Um Mr. Osborne?"
"Yes Mei?"
"Uh I didn't bring my Gun Soseta today... May I borrow one?"
"You didn't bring it? Why Not?" He talks very loudly and I cringe. Looking around it looks like everyone heard because some are smirking and a few are surprised.
"I forgot..."
"You can sit out then. Zero."
"But-but why can't I borrow a beginner one?"

"Because your supposed to bring at least one everyday, otherwise you will get punished by the school, I think a zero on this lesson would be a good warning to remember next time."
"Okay..."
I walk back to my seat and sit down, laying my head on the table I can still hear people snickering. Dammit, just because I want to hide my skills, I have to deal with this sh*t. I sit for the rest of class while Angela demonstrates the perfect quick shot, and everyone else tries it out. I sigh waiting for class to finally end.
I walk out of class totally embarrassed but I don't let it show on my face. I walk to lunch. I grab a seat and sit down, chomping away at a PB&J I think about what happened. I didn't want to show my Psychic Soseta and i couldn't just tell the teacher I sold my Soseta in an auction, he would probably be even more furious. I realize that my sandwich is gone, mainly because i was so focused in my own thoughts I finished it already, but i notice something else. I'm not cold. That doesn't sound like much but the school keeps the cafeteria freezing cold, even right now in autumn, but i don't feel frezzing I look down and remember i was wearing my Ice Slippers today and smile, before finishing up my lunch and walking to my next class.
Hah...I just finished sewing class and it was boring as per usual, though i did enjoy it, calmly sewing up something like a poor grandmother. That sounded a little sad. Anyway now it's time for PSE class. It was never my favorite, but I can say it has helped my multitasking skills a lot. I could be at home getting myself a snack and still working on crafting at the same time, just from my multitasking improvements. Today we have to work on basic training, Running, Push ups, pull ups, crunches, the basic pizzaz. I finished up with the rest of the class and moved on to speed knitting, which is an intersting exercise.

For Speed Knitting one needs to gradual speed up on crafting something. For practive we are given an nearly done Soseta and we have to try to complete as much of it as we can in 30 minutes. Usually I get around 23% more done, which is a weird percentage but i think it's alright. I mean I always do a little more than 20% so saying I've got a 23% average is fine right? I hear the bell ring and ding and that means class is over. Wiping sweat from my brow I start to walk to the lockerooms before I get stopped by a group of boys.
"Hey You!"
"Huh?"
"Yeah girly, You!"
"What is it?"
"I heard you didn't bring a gun soseta to the 'Gun Basics' class." the kid was smirking like it was a huge deal or something.
"Yeah I forgot, what's that got to deal with you?"
"We just felt," He gestures to two other guys "You needed a bit more of a 'lesson' as you failed that class."
I look at them with the most disgusted expression on my face and they seem to flinch back a little.
"Yeah whatever I'm leaving."
Right when I said that the three of them circled around me blocking off my path. I think about scaring them a little and equip my Finger Gun sosetas in case they try to do anything to me.
"Not so fast, girly." He hold a bucket full of dirty water in front of him. "I just thought you'd like to take a nice shower after PSE" He grins like an *ss.
I hold my finger out in front of me and he looks surprised, all I say is "Bang." I watch as one of his buddies falls to the floor holding his ears. I heard nothing, did the skill work correctly? I point my finger at the other boy and say it again. Soon he is also on the ground, the main kid looks at me with confusion.
"What did you do to them?!"
"I dunno, let me know though 'Bang.' "
The final kid fell to the floor spashing the water all over himself on the way down. I look at them and laugh a whole lot, I thought it was so funny to see them try to bully me only to fall to the ground covered indirty water they tried to throw on me!
but that was until I notice the first boy. There is blood coming from his ears. I look at them in shock and look at the three of them on the floor blood streaming out of their ears, what have I done?
I turn away from them and run away down the hallway and out the doors of the school. How had it done that to their ears? I didn't mean to do that only scare them a little! I decide to never use that skill against people unless I really needed to, I didn't want to hurt anyone unintentionally like that ever again.

Author's Notes: I appreciate you taking a look at my novel, The Girl from the Mountain. If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction, military thrillers, and/or cosmic horror, I think you'll enjoy this story. I completed the novel's first draft back in 2011 and made significant changes in 2016. Since then, I've more-or-less sat on the manuscript while working on other projects. Thanks to a bit of prodding, I've decided to send this story out into the wild with some touch-ups and additional revisions. I welcome any comments or criticisms, and I hope you enjoy The Girl from the Mountain!
