I led the way toward the barracks. Liam stayed behind for a bit to comfort Lily. I honestly feel bad for her. This is her first time losing someone close to her, so she feels it more than Liam and I. Liam and I have lost so many people we aren't even phased anymore by death. Death has become normalized for us, and we don't let anyone really close to us anymore. We don't grow attached to people anymore after the hand incident. The only time death could hurt us, is if it happened to either one of us. Maybe if Lily died it would hurt Liam now. I don't know much about their relationship, or about love in general, but they seem close. I wonder if I'll be able to open up to people like that again. I'm probably to ugly for it anyway, but that won't stop me from trying to get a girlfriend to stick it to Liam.
I finally reached the barracks. Caliburnas was resting on my shoulder as I walked. I really need to get a sheath for this thing in the future. When I got there every foot soldier was crowded around in a circle. I thought that they would be frantic from the attack, but I guess the Grey Wolves presence here made them calm. When I finally saw what they were looking at, I was kind of amused. They all were watching Trina practice swordplay. I guess she is trying to make up for her lack of attack magic with this. I didn't know that nobles would have this kind of will power to get better by themselves. She was amazing using the sword too. She moved around like it was a dance. Gracefully dashing in and out, waving her sword around in very precise strikes at her target. She was more powerful than she looked too, cutting one dummy in half with a single swipe. I saw that this was my chance. I didn't want to flirt with her though. I wanted to learn. If I could learn how to do that with my sword then I could be on another level.

I walked up behind her, and in a blur she had the sword pointed at my face. The crowd of soldiers started to let out an ohhh. I shot them a glance and stated, "Oh Shut up."
One shouted back, "Tough talk for a little boy!"
They started to laugh. Trina seemed to smirk at this. Once again I was reminded of my status. Despite having this new power, I was still a lowly peasant kid. When I go out there though, and defeat those monsters. I will rule myself. Trina looked at me with her smirk and asked, "Well what are you doing here little boy? Are you lost? Do I need to find your mommy? Oh wait she is probably off fucking another man to pay for the bills huh?"
I winced in anger. I bit my tongue the best I could though, and told her, "Your the same age as me, and I was wondering if you could teach me some of those moves?"
I purposely ignored the mommy remark. She shot me a glance when I mentioned her age and responded, "Didn't come to flirt this time huh?"
I smirked and responded, "Well if you want me too I can, love."
She quickly responded, "Hell no. That goes for your training request too. Why would a noble like me teach a peasant like you?"
As she started to walk off, I couldn't hold it in any longer. I sarcastically responded, "I guess what I just saw was just for show then. If you could really do that then you would teach others, and maybe... Be with one of the inner city hunting guilds."
She stopped dead in her tracks. The soldiers grew silent. I must have struck a nerve. I don't know if this is a god thing or bad thing. I wanted her to stop, but she seems a bit different now. She turned around, and you could see the rage in her face. She doesn't seem like she would be a good liar. She angrily declared, "Fine fluke. You want me to teach you a few moves? If you last 5 minutes with me in a sword spar, I will."

This was definitely a trap, but if I don't get any tips now I may never will by the time of the hunters exam. That may be the difference between passing and not. I stubbornly stated, "Let's go then."
The soldiers made a circle around us. I haven't forgiven what she said about my mom either. If she wants to fight then I will.

Sexy Sect Babes
“One in a billion.” Jack kept repeating the mantra in his head. “One in a billion.” That was the number the Omni-Corps liked to cite whenever someone stepped onto one trans-mat pad and then simply… never stepped off the other. “Safer than a car,” he repeated as he slogged through the snow, his mining overalls doing at least a passable job of keeping out the cold as he brushed aside a tree branch. “Safer than a plane. Or a starship. Safest form of transport in the Star League.” He slammed his fist into a nearby tree, exo-empowered strength shattering it into little more than scattered bark and kindling. “Yeah, well I never heard of a car ride stranding some prick in another dimension!” He roared, his voice echoing through the seemingly endless forest around him. Then he kept marching. He’d seen the fire off in the distance. And given all the snow around, he sincerely doubted it was natural. Which left the unnatural. Which meant people. He hoped. Because even if the trans-mat had screwed up, he doubted it had dumped him too far off the central finite curve. The fact that the air was breathable and that he could recognize the trees around him as oak told him that much. And if the dimension he was in had trees native to Earth, chances are it would have animals too. Of which humans would hopefully be no exception. “Because I’ll be damned if I spend the rest of my days talking to goddamn squirrels.” No, if there were humans on this mudball, he was going to find them. One way or another.
