Magik - CHAPTER SEVEN
"We will contact you if your designs are accepted. Please see yourself out Mr. Hopkins." Karen Scholl, [Director], during an interview in 2965 PG, 10 years before the advent of James Hopkins, the [Millennium Illustrator].
"Exceptional my son, truly exceptional. And unfathomable if I were not to have seen it for myself." Richard Hyzaar stated, snapping out of his tumultuous thoughts.
"Now, come sit down and tell me everything. Don't skip over a single detail." Richard asked, waving young Samuel to take a sit beside him.
As the young child strode over, he couldn't help but be surprised at his father's lack of skepticism. He had prepared himself to be scrutinized and asked to demonstrate more than a few times, something he had only started to consistently accomplish for the last month. Taking his seat, it felt like a stone lodged deep inside his abdomen dissolved as his nervousness faded away.
Samuel narrated his experiences over the last three months. How it felt to have manipulated magik, the sensations when he ingressed any of the particles, the thrill of being able to produce magical effects, each session allowing him to ingress faster, with more frequency, and his burgeoning hope to be accepted by his father underlining every word. Finishing their meal and finally their almost hour-long talk, the two sat there in silence, the older digesting his thoughts and the younger preparing to ask his request.
"I will speak to your mother about this. If you are able to receive a [Magi]-related class on inauguration, I will prepare your application at the Royal Arcane Academy." Richard stated, crystallizing his thoughts. "I know you had hoped for Mattheus Academy but trust me, being a [Magi] is no easy feat. Since you've demonstrated the talent for it, I will arrange for you to be sent to the capital and receive the best education for potential [Magi]. You will have a difficult road ahead of you my son; the first Hyzaar [Magi]!"

"The 'first' father?!" Samuel asked, confusion speckling his words.
"Yes. Us Hyzaar are known for our innovations in magik but none of us have ever truly been [Magi]. Some have tried [Solara's Guidance] in the past but only to practice their skills. None of us have had a [Magi] aspected trait. Neither your brothers, sisters, your uncle, or me. We are able to develop indirect classes such as a form of [Magitek] or [Magikist], but none have ever had the option to become [Magi]. Regardless, we will have to await your inauguration to see if you are plagued by this as well, which would be...."
"In 2 days father."
"Right, 2 days. Well, I have to arrange a lot if you are to attend the next semester at the Royal, so lets call it here. Go rest up son, I will speak with you at dinner."
"Might I ask something before I leave father?" San asked, followed by a short nod from his father. "I had expected you to be....more surprised and skeptical of my claims even with my demonstration. How can you..?"
"Not be more skeptical? Because what you demonstrated there was simply not ingression my son. There are three things I witnessed today son."
"One, you were able to view magikal particles without a skill. This is rare outside of the first advancement and uncommon with the second. Only after level 10 are people more frequently able to actually see magikal particles, albeit with heavy focus."
"Two, you were able to manipulate magik, although only minimally. I am unsure how this differs between [Magi] and [Magikists], but it generally involves being able to manipulate magik and affect its natural flow through the world."
"And three, you were able to [Cast] without a focus, only with your hands. Once more, I am unsure why you felt the need to release any of the magik that you had ingressed. But only a fool would doubt your ability my son, and I am anything but."

"Thank you for explaining father." Sam nodded after a minute of silence. "Then, I will take my leave," he spoke, standing up, bowing, and striding towards the door, his head swimming with his father's reasoning.
"Oh, Sam."
"Yes father?"
"Keep this to yourself for now, alright? I will speak with you tonight."
Pausing for a few seconds, Sam understood his father's caution. If their competitors realized his abilities now, before his inauguration, there was no telling how they might react.
"Understood." Samuel replied, heading out of the door. As soon as the door to his father's study closed, the young boy gave out a breath of relief. Whenever he would talk to anyone, regardless of family or friend, his social awkwardness would cause him to act woodenly. However, he was happy and elated at being able to properly demonstrate his new talent. Now, all he had to do was await his inauguration. With a skip in his step, Sam headed towards the west wing to his quarters for some much needed rest.

THE TIME MACHINE (Completed)
The Time Machine is a science fiction novel by H. G. Wells, published in 1895 and written as a frame narrative. Wells is generally credited with the popularization of the concept of time travel by using a vehicle that allows an operator to travel purposely and selectively forwards or backward in time. The term "time machine", coined by Wells, is now almost universally used to refer to such a vehicle. The Time Machine has been adapted into three feature films of the same name, as well as two television versions, and a large number of comic book adaptations. It has also indirectly inspired many more works of fiction in many media productions.
