Magik - CHAPTER SIX
Richard kept an eye on Sam for the first minute or so, understanding that he had started to arrange how he would present whatever he had experienced.
"Father. I believe that you have decided somewhat on where I will be headed for my studies?"
"I have. It will either be at Edwards or Stevens in Maldour. Your tutors have made me aware of the rigor of your studies. But Sam, you haven't truly shown us to be passionate in anything else. Or am I wrong?"
"That is why I am here today father. I believe I found my spark. About 3 months ago, while I had been studying, I had, lets say, a whim. I wanted to practice [Solara's Guidance] by myself. And before you say that was stupid, I know it was. Regardless of my motivations at that time though, I did practice it."
Sam stated, holding and preparing his thoughts to divulge his discovery.
"Near the end of my first practice cycle, I had noticed something in the corner of my eye father. Fearing that I might have done some damage, I stopped myself then. However, I couldn't help but continue the next day after seeing no adverse effects. And I saw magik father. I saw this small, miniscule ball, floating along with the wind, colored an amber as bright as my hair. I thought I was dreaming but I did my research on it for the next few days and from what I understood, I saw a particle of magik, flame-aspected specifically, father."
"It was wondrous to be honest." he continued, not ceasing the flow that had come over him. "I was able to glimpse something I should have no way of understanding. But glimpse it I did. And from my reading I learned how one enterprising soul many years ago had described it and it matched with my experience; although, Professor Menar had been trying it after his inauguration, unlike me. Either way, I followed his method, his description, and I was able to draw the particle towards me more and more. Each day I got closer to having it at the tip of my finger until I was finally able to grasp it. Until I was able to ingress it." he finished.

"Would you like me to demonstrate father?" Sam asked, standing up and looking towards his father's eyes.
He saw curiosity and sadly a hint of disbelief staring back at him, followed by a short nod. Breathing in, Sam started the movements, now fluid and natural after practicing every day for the last 3 months. He was able to sense the magik in the air, and saw a speck of green close by, swiftly passing towards the windows, before stopping and floating towards the young boy as he focused his will on it. Slowly, the drifting speck became affixed to a track, traveling along the air towards the young boy, as if a leash had been wrapped around it. As he finished the first cycle of his stances, the mote landed on the tip of his outstretched hand before being ingested.
Sam did not miss his father's eyes slowly widening as the particle traveled across the room and landed on his outstretched palm; his father was a [Magitek Engineer], an advanced consolidated class with a total level above 50. Being able to see magik in the air would be something he would be able to do. His practice the months prior had made the boy comfortable in his muscle memory, able to perform the manual's specific stances without any second thoughts.
As the magik was ingressed, Sam let go, the wave of energy traveling across his body and through the other side as it generated a gust of wind from the palm of his hand, blowing across the room before petering out against the shelves. Easing out of his stances, his heart palpitating rapidly from the stress and anxiety, Sam stood there for his father's judgement.
The older Hyzaar in-turn sat with a stony face; showing not a speck of the escalating storm plaguing his mind. Truly, one born of the Hyzaar cannot be ordinary. He had been disappointed in young Samuel for a number of years. His elder siblings had demonstrated various proficiencies in the years leading up to their inauguration; but his youngest had only been rigorous in his studies. Perhaps it was foolish of him to take his behavior for granted; clearly Sam's interest in knowledge finally developed in a clear, and quite an exceptional, direction; that of a potential [Magi].

The Voice of the World
Jason Elric used to be an ordinary college student living in the heart of San Francisco. He had a part time job, he played online games with friends he got along moderately well with, and he earned reasonably good grades. The worst he really had to worry about in life was turning in his coursework on time and not being late to class. Now, though? Now fighting for his life and running from a horde of giant frogs that want to make him their next meal is just another Tuesday. Thanks to a summoning ritual gone terribly right, Jason has found himself trapped in a world eerily similar to the role playing games games he used to play for fun. Unfortunately for the now ex-college student, everything happening around him is terrifyingly real and if he wants to survive, he’ll have to figure out how to exploit the system for his benefit before it’s too late. The Voice of the World is the first part of what is planned to be a multi-book, Isekai LitRPG story with crafting elements, set in the fantasy world known as Verdania. This is my first time posting online for public consumption, so bear with me as I work to find a style that people like. While I may occasionally write scenes that may deal with heavy concepts, expect this story to be primarily light hearted high fantasy. There will be a lot of common fantasy tropes involved, as this story got its start as a simple practice exercise, rather than any plan to actually post it. However, it’s grown on me, so I felt it’s worth sharing after all. Thus, if you’re looking for more serious/original/unusual stories, you might want to look elsewhere. For the rest of you, feel free to leave suggestions, as well as to point out grammar and spelling mistakes; I’ll do my best to make edits to correct them. I do my own editing currently, and it’s easy to miss things when you know what’s supposed to be there, so such call outs are highly encouraged. Content TLDR: No harems, probably no romance (unless it makes sense for the story later on) (it did, eventually), definitely no sex (keeping this PG-13 or close to it), limited profanity. Does/Will contain mixes of magic and technology (think Warhammer, Final Fantasy); copious amounts of blue tables; race, gender, and sexual equality concepts; crafting sequences; and (slightly, but not overbearingly) strong protagonists. If you don’t like these things, go elsewhere instead of downvoting people for content instead of writing quality. Update Time currently varies, due to personal injury, but the goal is 1/week on Wednesdays, with a possible smaller chapter on weekends if time/health permits.
