《I study magic, for destruction?》Chapter 1

My eyes twitched.

I stood in front of the mirror, staring at myself wearing what amounted to unfashionable throwaways. I tore them off my body before searching my closet for something more— fashionable, for a lack of better word.

Black vest? Doable.

White or black shirt?

Eh, I will just work with the black shirt and black jeans. I definitely have to consider doing more workouts, this body feels so feeble. I slipped into the new clothes and into some soft white loafers. All black then white shoes, new style. I could feel it.

I stepped in front of the mirror and posed. I still felt something was off. I unbutton two buttons, checking again. Something still felt off. Unkempt. Messy. Change is needed.

I ran my hand through my unruly dark hair and it clicked. I needed a better hairstyle. I looked around for my phone and began searching for the latest hairstyles.

The messy look, I would hardly call this a fit for consumption. Let’s see, let’s see. A— combover? Those are still in style? I scrolled a few more times, hoping something would put the past me to shame.

Hmm... This will do.

With a flick of my wrist, a pair of crystalline scissors floated near my hair. With multiple headshots in front of me, I began cutting away my hair, trimming the sides and back down to a low fade. Layered up like a pyramid of sorts. I went to the bathroom and washed the longer top section, styling it to mostly hang down in front of my eyes.

I sighed, standing tall in front of the door.

Opening the door, I was met with an incoming fireball through a window in the hallway.

I click my tongue in annoyance.

“Some people really know how to enjoy the morning.” I muttered.

I, nonchalantly, pointed forward. A blue barrier just big enough to cover the doorway, materialized. The fireball didn’t fizz out upon impacting the barrier, it stuck to it like glue.

I looked past the spell and at two guys playing fire baseball in the dorm courtyard.

Imbeciles.

With the flick of my finger, I propelled the fireball back to its owner, at twice the speed.

“Ryan! Watch out!” yelled the pitcher with blonde hair.

“What are yo- gah!” screamed the batter with fire orange hair.

A direct hit!

I couldn’t help but let out a little smirk. Ryan rolled around on the gravel circle while screaming, they truly were annoying.

I walked out into the courtyard. Enjoying the warmth of the sun against my face. I closed my eyes, savoring this feeling of being free.

Magnificent!

The friend of batter ran up to me, fist leading. I wave my hand in a dismissive gesture, sending him flying back onto his ass. I took a moment to sneer at the incompetent fool.

He scrambled to his feet, face contorted in rage. He looked as if he would have run forward againhis friend kept crying louder and louder. He began calling for help. At least, he knew how to prioritize his friendship.

I clicked my tongue and began my journey to class. Envying the freedom of the birds that came and went from the cherry blossom trees. Even the leaves that fluttered down to the gravel pits. If I could be as free as the sunlight that bounces off the dorms’ windows, how great would that be?
