Magus Gravity - Chapter 7.5

“Let’s continue running, Yagi!” He said before running off into the distance.

I looked at my clothes that have been soaked in goo, before running after him.

Thinking back to it, the [Forest Roping] was taken down easily by master, but there must be a reason for that.

Creating a diversion for me to attack, I had aimed for the supposed “weak spot” of the monster.

However, did he really create a diversion for me to attack or was I the real diversion? Yes, it must be the reason the monster died so easily.

If that is correct, then the real weakness of these [Forest Ropings] are when they are unleashing their ultimate attack - when the slime tries to swallow something whole - and the trigger to that attack is when the false weakness is endangered. Therefore, that lump on its back is actually a lethal spot if it makes the monster attack with all its might.

Problem is, I was not fast enough in getting a strike on it.

“Yagi, what are you thinking about?” Tyrena asks me out of curiosity, as I must have been making strange facial expressions for him to ask me that.

Thankfully it wasn’t a command, so I didn’t answer him and continued running alongside.

He did not say anything, but I noticed that the bags under his eyes were much clearer than before. They seem to be disappearing, if that is even possible.

“There is a [Roping Hill] up ahead, so become vigilant in order not to be impaled.” He said.

Currently, using a pathway as traversed as this, there is a low chance of that happening - around 12.5%. My master cannot come to my aid fast enough for one not to impale me, it is evident after the first battle with one of those [Roping] monsters. Therefore, it’s a 50% chance if I stick with him, as either of us could be targeted. However, including the chance that I could repel them with my sword, the chance of me dying is halved once more; master can also repel one if he reacts fast enough. So there isn’t a massive chance of me being impaled.

This is correct if I assume that the [Roping Hill] is a place where those monsters settle down and rest, similar to a gang territory. Then the chance of me being impaled becomes almost 100%, because I had only taken into consideration that only one [Roping] would attack us at a time when I had guessed the chance being 12.5%.

My sword arm tensed up, and the wooden sword became raised and at the ready of any sudden attack.

We proceeded onwards as the trees became more dense and compact, creating weird shadows with their branches.

It became darker in this part of the forest, and I believe we entered the [Roping] territory, or [Roping Hill] as the inhabitants of this world call it.

I take a glance at the carefree Tyrena, noting his facial expression and posture. He seems very confident; a crazed smile on his face and his chest puffed out. His wooden sword which didn’t resemble the one he had taken in when beginning our jog, which was now surrounded in a green hue and the sword itself looked like it was made out of iron and not wood because of the smooth surface, and sharp looking edges.

He came to a stop all of a sudden and I replicated, lunging with my blade towards a bush that had slightly parted. A blob flew out and became stuck on the end of my sword, before it was ripped out of my hands and the wooden blade was lost to the bush.

“Good reaction, but you have to finish the movement to actually do something.” He spoke nonchalantly as the same blob flew out again, aiming towards my chest.

Before it could reach my destination, it was slashed apart into ribbons by Tyrena.

Why…

To just slash that blob apart like it was nothing, then what was the point in that exchange back there? Back then he seemed to be holding him back with a little bit of difficulty, and he needed me to be a diversion so that he could slash at the weakness.

That must be it, he was holding back. Then he must have done that to allow me to gain at least some fighting experience, but he could have just…

No, I might be killed if I was told to go alone and become stronger from fighting these things. So that’s why he came along with me.

And there he goes. Tyrena flies into the shrub, disintegrating it into the similar fashion as to what had happened to the blob. However, a lot of noise was created in the process, so maybe a lot of these things will pop up and try to attack now.
