《How Everything Started》Thirteenth Encounter

Time passed since Sayuri was talking with Yoko, and the time where they say their goodbyes came. It was quite a while, they talked longer than they could imagine. It was already evening when Sayuri was on her way home.
She arrived at the apartment she’s staying at. There, she sat down on her couch thinking of something out of a sudden curiosity.
“-Come to think of it, why was she sitting there anyways. Was she waiting for someone?” Says Sayuri.
While sitting comfortably in her couch, the doorbell rang.
“-Who might that be? I’m tired.” Says Sayuri while she was about to open the door.
After opening the door, she saw Hayato standing there. Seeing Hayato there, it gave Sayuri a huge shock. So unintentionally, Sayuri suddenly closed her apartment room door out of surprise.
“Wha..?! Hey, Hiraka open up! I need to tell you something.” Hayato surprised as well, on the other side of the door spoke to Sayuri.
“-Tha..That surprised me.. What does he want to tell me….” Says Sayuri in her mind.
“Wha-what is it?” Sayuri asked, still leaning on her apartment room door, keeping the door closed.
“Well… Can you at least show me your face?” Hayato asked.
“Okay then..” Sayuri answered as she slowly opened the door.
“Good, now will you go with me to the café?” Hayato asked her again.
“Wha-wha..?! Is…Is that all you wanted to s-say?” She answered.
“NO! I meant, let’s go talk there instead..” Hayato told Sayuri what he meant while letting out a short sigh.
“-Maybe I can trust him for now. It seems kind of important.” Sayuri thought.
“Okay then…” Sayuri the answered.
While they were on their way to the café, Sayuri suddenly took the initiative to break the awkward silence.

“U-umm.” Sayuri spoke.
Hayato, instead of speaking, just looked at Sayuri, being silent and all.
“I-I know it’s a bit late but… I-it’s been a while. How’s l-life?” Sayuri asked Hayato, while fidgeting a lot out of nervousness.
“Pretty good.” Hayato answered without looking at Sayuri, giving out a slight smile.
“O-oh.. I see.. Hehe..” Sayuri answered.
“-He’s been quite silent… Should I ask him about it? I mean, we’re childhood friends and all.” Sayuri thought.
“Hey-“ As Sayuri was about to ask Hayato, in a blink of an eye, they were already at the café.
“We’re here.” Hayato told Sayuri.
“Oh, umm. Okay.” She answered.
After they sat down to a table and ordered something to drink/eat, Hayato talked.
“About what I needed to tell you.” Hayato said.
“What is it?” Sayuri answered.
“Daisuke..” Hayato told Sayuri.
“W-what about Daisuke?” Sayuri asked.
“Well, do you still…..” Hayato spoke.
“W-what? Still what?” Sayuri asked.
“Do you still like him?” Hayato asked Sayuri.
“L-like…H-him..??” Sayuri out of embarrassment from the question stuttered.
“Daisuke. Do you still like him?” Hayato asked straightforwardly.
“D-do I still l-like….H-him??” Sayuri blushing, answered Hayato with a question.
“-Why is he asking that kind of question all of a sudden?” Sayuri thought.
“Hmmm. Even though you yourself isn’t interested in romance… You yourself have someone she likes? What an utter nonsense.. Heh!” Hayato told Sayuri, smirking.
“H-how’d you know about that?!” Sayuri asked Hayato.
“Well, some of the people from my class asked me if we knew each other, and the guys happen to tell me those kind of incidents. Come to think of it, the people you’ve rejected so far told me those..” Hayato answered sarcastically.

“W-wha..?!” Sayuri shocked.
“-He likes to gossip huh? Tch!” Sayuri thought, giving out an irritated expression in her face.
“Hey! Did you just thought I like to gossip?!” Hayato asked after seeing Sayuri’s irritated face.
“Oh.. Oh, no..” Sayuri said.
“Tch!” Hayato clicked his tongue.
“Back to the question.. What are you trying to tell me? A-asking about Daisuke-kun so suddenly…” Sayuri asked.
“Oh..” Hayato suddenly spoke.
“W-what?” Sayuri asked.
“He’s planning on coming back here in Japan and study here with us.” Hayato told Sayuri, giving off a faint smile.
“C-coming back?” Out of shock, Sayuri repeated what Hayato just told her.
