《The Strongest Soul》Prologue
Advertisement
The world is filled with malicious people. People that cause chaos, ensue destruction, not just of the environment, but of everything; society, social circles, the mind.
But, the world is a small place. It wouldn’t nearly have any influence in the universe. But what if the whole universe were corrupted? If out of hundreds of universes, there were a few that were deemed unsafe for people to travel to, or to even mention in a sentence?
One such universe is called Fiendbringer Greaterworld. This universe is in control of reinforcing armies of great power and will. To do this they commit heinous experiments and trials in order to find a suitable person to join the army.
These experiments and trials involve young children and work to slowly make these children ruthless powerful warriors that will obey every single order given to them. For countless years this has occurred and proven to be effective for the Fiendbringer Greaterworld, thus they continued this for years and years.
The experiments and trials spread throughout the universe into the various planets. Many children were forced to participate in these trials and were made into warriors without their own will.
In the planet called Phlegethon, it was always night time. It was always cold on this planet yet it was covered in forests. Most of the planet was made of land while a small portion of the planet held water. It was a place where many beasts roamed in search of food to survive. Yet, these beasts also had to compete with the humans that lived there as well.
In a certain part of the world, a new trial was being held to recruit more troops for the army for the Fiendbringer Greaterworld. Hundreds of children were standing around looking at a powerful figure in front of them speaking, telling them about the trial.

Basically, they had to survive by themselves for three months. Nobody would be there to help them survive and if they died… oh well. In truth, this trial was actually a pretty safe one considering that they had a better chance at surviving.
One child was sitting on the ground crying out while the figure spoke his words. Plenty of other children were following him in crying as well. This child wore black furs and had red hair and red eyes. He was weeping because he was taken from his family and sent to this foreign place to die. He was a weak child and knew that he would perish out here, never to see his family again.
This child’s name was Kain. He was a timid 7 year old child that looked frail and weak. He sat and cried for hours, even after the powerful figure had left. Many other children surrounded him as they sat and cried too. However, after those few hours of crying his mind changed. He knew that he wanted to see his family again, and to do that he had to survive.
He hated the fact that he was weak enough to be forced here. He hated how he was weak to the point that he would have to struggle to survive. He hated himself for being so weak minded and crying for hours.
Kain lifted his head up, his face still soft and wet from his tears earlier, he stood up and vowed to himself to survive no matter what he had to do. He would make it back to his family and then… get revenge on the people who forced him into this situation!

Celestial Botany
Erica Moore was offered the chance of staying herself during her next life, but decided that an unknown cost was too high a price to pay. In trying to get some peace from Faustian bargains, she accidentally got herself stuck outside the cycle of reincarnation. Aided by an eccentric gardener-goddess and armed with lifetime of stories, Erica will have to earn each new life. She will need to navigate identity as each new life changes her, and if she wants an overpowered reincarnator cheat ability, she will need to build it herself. The concept for this story was influenced by Vladerag’s The Many Lives of Cadence Lee, QuietValerie’s Ryn of Avonside, and the relentless stream of new worlds that my brain dumps on me. I hope you enjoy, and thank you for reading!

Paternum: A Superhero Story
When Quinn finds an experimental superpower-granting costume in their parents’ attic, they didn’t expect to be drawn into a web of superhuman intrigue, but their discovery serves as the catalyst for that conspiracy to slowly unravel. At it’s heart, Paternum is an extended coming-of-age story for the main character as they become a superhero, in a world with more reasonable stakes and less powerful heroes than many superheroic worlds. Themes include what art means to different people, and what it means to be a patron, whether as a sponsor, a parent, or a supporter. I consider Paternum‘s primary influences to be the various versions of Spider-Man, J. C. McCrae’s own superhero story Worm, and Drew Hayes’ story SuperPowereds. I hope that fans of such stories can find something to enjoy in mine as well. Paternum is primarily hosted on my website (thevoidwrites.com) where it updates weekly in groups of scenes totalling approximately 2000 words. Here on Royal Road, it will update once daily with one scene at a time, but only after each act is completed on the home site - the next batch of updates is scheduled to begin on February 5th. There is a discord channel for discussion (discordapp.com/invite/QFMM6yA), and you can vote for Paternum on topwebfiction (topwebfiction.com/vote.php?for=paternum) as well. Finally, you can buy the first book of Paternum, The Swift Uplifting Rush, in a couple different ways - as an ebook through Amazon, or directly from me for a discounted price, or as a physical paperback from Amazon. Buying the book will give you access to Drawing Hands, an exclusive arc that won't ever be published on either my site or Royal Road.
