《Monster? So be it,》Chapter 1

"Just... what the fuck are you really?" A stout man asked as he paced back and forth in front of a chair bound man; the man's feet and hands had been shackled by chains, handcuffed, and painfully tied to the electric chair he was sitting on- an extreme precaution, if not a necessary one- one that had been done not out of spite nor hatred; but out fear. Fear, that this man would escape and murder everyone here, escape and commit even more genocide outside.
Painfully attached to the man's head was a metal band that was stitched in place using steel wires, the very item that would re-direct high voltages of electricity directly into his brain.
Still, Faux was happy, this is the crown he has earned after so many achievements, this metal band is proof that what he had done had caused an impact on people's lives! That he is better than the entire force the man infront of him belonged in.
"of course you'll smile you sick fuck." The warden disgustingly said as he glared at Faux, his face going crimson by minute "DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT YOU'VE DONE?! YOU KILLED HUNDREDS OF MEN AND WOMEN WITH YOUR SCHEMES! An-and you've broken so many families..." the man couldn't quite hear that last part, but he can assume what the guy may have tried to convey, shattered families? Was it? Heh, he too had lost and experienced the shattering of his own, all because of the law's lack of movement. All because they were too late! And yet, here he still is, saving people's lives better than them!
A grunt came out of Faux's mouth. And upon hearing this; the warden's heartbeat became audible, his breathing became ragged and the man's face became a mixture of purple and red.
Despite the crystal-clear hostile reaction, Faux didn't care; They let his family die. They were all too late as the criminal already stabbed his parents and had stolen their belongings by the time they had arrived, they simply put a blanket over his shivering body and took him to an orphanage. They didn't even attempt to give chase!
After that, he was left alone, no one was there for him, the orphanage simply took care of him, but no one, no one was there for him. The force the man infront of him belonged to was useless, unable to act and do their job,
-While he, he had saved so many. Prevented them from suffering the same fate as he had! He even managed to hunt down the man that had once killed his parents! The man they had forgotten the existence of. Oh and that man had a beautiful daughter didn't he? A 20 year old blonde daughter that took care of him as the cancer slowly ravaged his body.

It surely must have sucked that she also had to take care of the child he had left inside of her so soon, it surely, surely sucked.
Oblivious to his thoughts, the warden opened up a folder had been lying in the table next to them; inside it, he pulled out a photo, a gorgeous brunette was seen smiling. The guard looked at the photo affectionately, tears flowing down his eyes, "beautiful isn't she?" He said,
"My daughter was still so young. And yet, she died. BECAUSE OF YOU! YOU USELESS FUCKING SCUM! I-IF YOU HADN'T SPREAD THAT POISONOUS GAS SHE WOULD STILL BE ALIVE!" The man screamed as his foot made it's way unto Faux's stomach.
The warden then took out another picture, two of them actually- one was a person barely recognizable with his purple skin, his head was full of dry blood; most likely the result when his eyes had popped out of their sockets, his nose had somehow become flat, and his teeth had gone black.
The second picture, was a concert devoid of any life, multiple lifeless corpses that had suffered from the same fate as the man from the first picture littered the entire place- "this, you... caused this. If you hadn't sabotaged those smoke machines, do you think this would have happened?"
"You're demented, insane. That's what you are, a monster in human flesh, one that kills humans in the most brutal and effecient manner possible, without remorse." The warden said, Faux merely frowned, did he not know that the man on the stage was on the wrong?
Within that crowd lay kidnappers hidden on plain sight, kidnappers that would drug teenagers and carry them away, kidnappers that the man on the stage himself had planted.
His frown was noticed by the man in front of him, "WHAT?! Dissatisfied? SAY IT TO ME!" Faux, of course, can't. They had burned his throat and his mouth so long ago, and he had to live for 3 weeks without them, without eating food, and he had only been brought here because his body was at the last spark of it's life, it's last hurrah before succumbing to his ever growling hunger.
Faux gave a grunt and he received a hook in return, the stitched wires ripped out of his skin as his head moved from the sudden hit, blood dripped from his head but he felt nothing, he had already been numb to the pain he continuously felt during his stay. This is nothing new, He thought.
"You merciless fuck. Well, this is my last goodbye then," the warden finished, and faux received another punch in the face.
Then, the warden took a deep breath and his posture became one of pure dignity and professionalism "Mr.Faux whom, in light and respect of your late parents, I would not use their last name," the warden's face was full of disgust at this point, "look at you." He said before continuing,

"you have been pledged guilty and will thus, be executed."
The man flipped the switch and Faux spasmed as electricity coursed through his brain, then, everything went black.
And then he was awake, once again?
He tried to take a deep breath,
He tried to.
But no air entered his lungs, over and over, nothing. He was consciously desperate for air, to breath, and he was desperate,
"There's no need for that Mr. Faux," a voice had suddenly reverberated in his head,
"You are but a soul now, floating in the immaterial realm."
Soul? Immaterial realm? What bullshit, is this his brain's last attempt at something before it finally dies?
"I'm afraid not Mr. Faux, this is as real as it can get, and just to be sure of everything, I am one of the many gods of death," the voice introduces itself and the vast emptiness morphed and reshaped into a multitude of bones that stuck themselves on pillars of black liquid that seem to yell and grab unto him.
"These are souls just like you Mr Faux, Souls that had been killed mercilessly and brutally, souls with some, belonging to your own victims."
"Now, I will not punish you for doing such things. And in fact, I want to reward you instead. Though, I also want to benefit from it." The Death God said, his voice had left Faux's head and seemed to have come from all around him instead,
"See, there is a new world that had recently spawned, it is still earth, but, with a few exceptions. Think about it as unnatural mirror reality if you will."
"And as it is a new world, no god had still influenced it yet, and I, want you to go there and spread my name and influence Mr. Faux, be it through the word of mouth, or, through fear." The God insisted,
"I'll let you run free, kill anyone and anything you like to kill, just don't change your original methods. They're already perfect as they are."
Faux stayed silent, closely listening in as to what this metaphysical being wants. If this is all true then, he might as well take the chance of living a second life, not everyone has that luxury afterall.
"Indeed Mr Faux, not everyone does. But at the moment, very few do. And they will all compete with you, and they would try their best to take you down."
"Now then, I assume, as you are not familiar with being a quadroped, you would prefer a humanoid shaped body yes?"
Faux agreed, failing to nod in the process.
"Good, the only creatures I have are monsters, but you'll be reincarnated as one the very few that resemble the shape of humans. They are called Pastrues Mr faux, and you can expect more of your kin inside graveyards, most likely scavenging for scraps." The god added merrily.
"Oh, and before you leave; you will technically be my priest, so expect a whole lot of abilities involving death and decay. Oh, and also, you can call upon grim reapers every week or so, the stronger the reaper- the greater the price. I wish you the best of luck Mr Faux!"
And with that, he once again woke up; inside a forest this time.
...
Ok, apparently gods exists? Or maybe it's just my mind not only creating some sort of god hoping that there's an afterlife, but also, to justify my actions; which, if what I'm thinking is all true, then, I have a better imagination than I originally thought.
So, a God of brutal death took a liking to me and decided to reincarnate me as his prophet is apparently, the best that my mind could come up with.
Going over that... this so called God seemed to have given me the body of some sort of reptillian- judging by my loose, leathery skin and forked tongue; I seem to be some sort of monitor? I think? Eh, I'm not that knowledgeable on reptiles.
I waited,.. for a moment. Thinking that this might all be some sort of dream, I waited, waited for my brain to finally die and let me go.
I continued to dazedly stare as my claws came in and out of my slender fingers, I didn't stop, I just, stared at it. Hoping that, yeah, maybe I want to live again. Maybe.
Do I deserve to live again? I existentially thought,
"Hopeful that this is all real," I begged as I see the pillars of light that pierced through the canopies move ever so slighltly.
"Fuuuuuuu" I sighed, I really, I really hope I'm alive right now, I thought as I instinctively flicked my forked tongue, finding the scent of prey to my right. A grin spread across my face as the muscles within my legs tensed, then with a burst of raptorial speed, I ran.
A mischievous grin spread across my face as I passed through the forest's underbrush- "Don't worry God, I won't fail you." I thought.
Excitement raced in my heart, and adrenaline coursed through my veins. My hands felt hot as my claws retract and protract from their sockets.

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
