《World Integration》Chapter 10: Living And Hiding

Although Albert Lee has just witnessed a terrifying scene of having someone within his neighbourhood murdered and killed right before his very eyes by the hands of a pack of Kobolds. His eyes were unmoving, staring at the scene in complete disbelief.
Since he doesn't know those kids beforehand, and don't hold a sense of attachment, but nevertheless, a life is a life. It is easy to take a life with your own hands, but the guilt of killing someone is hard to overcome.
In this case, having witness death firsthand, having seen someone being killed by something. The feeling of dread and fear began to overwhelm him, but nevertheless, he manages to hold himself back and not panic, causing a scene.
'Woah, those things are scary.' Albert Lee thought so to himself, feeling slightly relieved.
'Thank God, I am not an outdoor type of person. If I have had headed outside, otherwise, I would have had ended up as dog food for those Werewolves (Kobolds) like those kids.' He thought, feeling pity for the unfortunate kids that met their dreadful end at the hands of the Kobolds.
And after killing all of those kids, with some Kobold managing to find some little snacks to snack on and some don't.
Those that had earned nothing from the little skirmish with the humans were left a bit unsatisfied and frustrated. However, due to their keen sense of smell, much like that of a dog, they were able to quickly pick up the scent of humans within a 12-meter radius.
A woman who was unperturbed about the recent events, as the peaceful world that she once knew was quickly unravelling right before her very eyes.
She was preoccupied with taking down her laundry, dried clothes off from the washing line. Whilst, unaware that she has unfortunately managed to catch the attention of two out of the seven Kobolds' attention.
They began a hunting competition, a race to see who would reach the woman first and dealt the final lethal killing move to finish her off.
The two Kobold then on all four charging towards the direction of the unsuspecting woman, as she preoccupied with taking down her laundry and placing them within her laundry basket.
As the two reaches the brick wall that separates the neighbourhood streets with the attached houses' back garden. The Kobold with their strong powerful bipedal legs then jumps upwards, with one hand placed over the coping stone of the brick wall. They easily jumped over the roughly over 2-meters brick wall, thereby pushing their bodies forwards towards the lady.

Within seconds, the lady who lived next door to Albert Lee's house was indeed mauled to death by the two Kobolds, as the two started bickering against each other about who should get to eat the lady that they recently killed.
With neither side giving up on the struggle for dominance, whilst pulling on the corpse of the lady that they just recently killed.
However, the loud ruckus of the two male adults Kobold has managed to unexpectedly attract the attention of the husband of the lady that they just recently killed.
"Honey, are you alright? Is everything okay over there?" The husband then raises his voice but having heard no obvious response. He started to grow more worried about his wife, fearful for her safety.
The Kobold then immediately picked up the sound of the husband's voice, and where it is likely originating from. Seeing as how there is still a half-opened door, one of the Kobolds then immediately gave up on ceasing the wife's corpse, but rather target the alive husband instead.
'Oh, here we go again.' Albert Lee commented, having witnessed Kobolds massacring the child and killed the wife, and now it is the husband's turn.
Albert Lee then felt no sympathy for the husband that was destined to die, as he saw one of the Kobold placings its hand over the edge of the door, and slamming it wide open to the side. The door struck the wall of the house hardly, thereby damaging the door, at the same time leaving a deep imprint within the interior of the house wall.
"What the... Who are you? Augh!" The husband then shouted at the Kobold who intruded into his home, but before he could finish his sentence. He was quickly mauled to death by the Kobold, similar to his wife.
They both met their unfortunate ends at the hands of the Kobolds, unable to put up as much of a little fight against the Kobolds. As they were simply overpowered by the Kobolds, killed right off from them before they even had a chance to struggle.
'Well, tough luck then. I hoped that no one else is inside of the house, otherwise, they would end up with the same fate as the husband and wife. Killed off by the Werewolves (Kobolds).' Albert Lee thought so to himself.

Albert Lee then suddenly remembered something. 'Didn't the two have a daughter that is a year older than me, considering that she is around 20 years old? She probably has already moved out of her parent's house already.'
'And I am an exception to it all. As when most teens that have reached 18 years old, they would have usually moved out of their parent's house to head for university or college. And some would start their independent life by first looking for a full-time job, or slowly settling in a dorm room with their roommates.' Albert Lee thought to himself.
As he heard no further sound from the house next to him. He would just have assumed that the neighbour's girl must have already moved out of the house already and avoided the same likely fate as her parents. Death.
Whilst, thinking to himself, Albert Lee has unexpectedly made short eye contact with the Kobold that was eating the corpse of the wife.
It was only for a short moment that both of their eyes crossed paths with each other. Having immediately realised his mistake, he then quickly backs away from the bedroom window, hoping for the Kobold to not have seen him.
"Shit! Shit! Shit!" Albert Lee curses underneath his breath, as he then backs away from the window.
'Please don't let the Werewolves! Please don't let the Werewolves!' Albert Lee's forehead was then filled with cold sweat, as he then felt a sense of dread for the first time in his life. He is quite fearful for his life.
Fortunately, when the Kobold that was busy eating the wife's corpse, their eyes accidentally met with each other.
However, contrary to his expectations, at the mind, the Kobold's mind was focusing elsewhere. And when their eyes accidentally met, it doesn't seem to care.
At the same time, the window patterned blinds managed to significantly obscure his humanoid figure, thereby making it difficult to find him unless you are looking for him and at him intensely.
Thankfully, the Kobold seems to have completely ignored Albert Lee's presence, as he had witnessed the entirety of the pack of Kobolds managing to successfully kill several humans in rapid succession, one after another.
Seeing as how the Kobolds completely ignored him, Albert Lee then quickly heaved a sigh of relief, as he then quickly falls on top of his bed.
His sense of mental fatigue began to get the better of him, as he slowly closes his eyes for a couple of seconds, before being completely snapped right back to reality and out from his immersion by the sounds of someone over the live video group call.
"Hey is anyone there." Dave Rost said so over the live video group call, which certainly manages to catch Albert Lee's attention.
As he then slowly walks on over towards the workstation and his laptop. Seeing as how the laptop came put relatively unscathed after the earthquake, Albert Lee was certainly quite happy with himself.
'Thank God! The laptop came out relatively unscathed. I don't know what to do if it gets destroyed or damaged, as there is no way to get a new one right at this moment.' Albert Lee thought so to himself, feeling relieved by it all.
There were now five people in the live video group chat call instead of the original six. And Anik Mahmud seems to be the only one that is missing.
"Where is Anik?" Albert Lee then asks the whole group where Anik is, thereby showing wordiness for his friend's wellbeing.
Damien Blake then reassures him, "Don't worry, Albert! Anik is safe and sound, also alive. It is just that the earthquake has somehow managed to destroy his internet router, which caused the reason why he suddenly lost his internet connection and ended up ending the live video call."
"And how do you know this." Albert Lee responded, whilst scrutinising one of his brows.
And Damien Blake responded to Albert Lee's enquiry. "Samir has Anik's phone number, and he has his too. So Anik did send a message over to Samir by text confirming he was okay."
"I see." Albert Lee said over the live video group call, feeling contended with their own answer that was given to him.

The Many Blades of Wuxia
Hundreds of years after the Heretic wars ended, life has returned to its blissful ignorant state that only peace could bring. Whilst the never-ending war between Man, Beast and Mutant rages on, most are not even aware of a war that happened between men. Its prophecies shattered, their remnants surviving only in obscure bard tales. One is about to grow. On the cracked face of the world, Essence storms and Beast Waves keep the citizenry locked atop the Emperor city of Qaelang. Knowledge of the past is as rare as the metals that flow into the hands of Sacred Artists and at the root of it all are whispers of a malignant force, ancient and terrible. Holding humanity back from achieving greatness, but hiding too are secrets best left untouched. Balance, discipline and order have held Qaelang secure since time immemorial, the powers within claiming to adhere to them. None are more fearful of change than the ones with the most to lose, but change is coming. Blade of Wuxia is a long character-focused epic fantasy with progression and growth. It's about a boy's quest to become powerful enough to save those he cares most for and give them a better life. It's set in a world of hidden pasts and uncovering them will set him on a path that shakes the Empire. As this is a rewrite that took on a wildly different spin, reviews are most welcome and help me do better. What can the reader expect? A Wuxia society set in a High fantasy world. People are only doing what they know and may have mistaken beliefs. A clever resourceful protagonist with human flaws A far-reaching hidden fantasy world, rich in history. Multiple points of view are used to follow the story to its natural conclusions, not every NPC has all the answers, but there is one MC in this book. Progression will take time and sometimes even unknowingly. MC is not trained in the ways and knowledge must be tempered against experimentation. Release Schedule. 2 chapters a week, family and work permitting. Only if I'm happy with the chapter will I release it. That being said I am open to revision should an articulated critical response show merit. This story is not completed yet but I do have a general idea of what the end looks like for both MC's (yes both) Ultimately feedback will be most influential on the progression of release as it's you guys I'm looking to entertain. Expected Changes None really, I'm writing as I go and have a path planned for 6 books Chapter release rate might change if we take off and feedback starts flowing, but for now, it is just about making sure Arcs flow smoothly onto the next. Cover, yes absolutely! If there is enough interest I will open a Patreon account and use the first proceeds to commission an EPIC cover and hopefully a few scary artworks of our brave Cultivators and the foes they face.
