《Svails: Chains of Nebulas》Chapter 8: Exceilot

As the sun gets lower, the area which surrounds becomes darker, and covered in shadow. Siyo and her friends are being dragged across the ground by the rogue, who believe them all to be out cold after their confrontation with Exceilot. However Siyo has woken back up and is taking advantage of the situation to contact Angel for help, Migro manages to regain his conciousness, and looks over at Siyo to which he is met by a stern look from Siyo to keep still, an obvious signal to not draw any attention to themselves. Wendy is still awake, and in much pain from the gun shots put into her stomach by Exceilot, the wounds not made much better by the rogue dragging her across the pavement.
"Stop your wailing! Seriously, how have you not dropped dead yet, why is Exceilot even making us take you with us?" The rogue males, deep annoyed voice shouts out to Wendy.
"I- refuse to let people like you have your way ever again, you have caused people in this world nothing but harm from your betrayal over your own race! You and your captain can burn in hell!" Wendy says with a stern look in her eye to the rogue members dragging her and her friends.
Wendy's comment is met with a swift kick to her stomach where the gun shots were inflicted, at fast speed, causing her to cough up blood and scream in pain. This action angers Siyo who screams out Wendy's name as she breaks free from her shackles and tackles the rogue member dragging Wendy.
"This bitch was awake?! Don't just stand there get her!" The man screams as Siyo gets a clean punch in on the mans face, knocking him backwards onto the ground. "Not afraid to kick a girl in pain while she is down, but have to ask for help when a girl my size is assaulting you?! You are all pathetic!" Siyo shouts in anger, holding up her bruised right fist. The two other rogue members drop the chains holding Sagamie and Migro, and quickly move to attack Siyo with their short swords. Before any of the two rogue have a chance to attack, both of them are brought to the ground by Migro sliding his leg into theirs, to ruin their balance.
"I won't let you hurt my friends! It looks like you underestimated us."
"Huh?! Us underestimate kids like you?! You have to be joking kid!"
The two men reach to their belts, and pull out two small sized pistols, each one with a red pattern, and a symbol resembling a crown with sharp edges. As both men fire shots at Siyo and Migro, the two have no choice but to fall backwards to the ground to dodge the shots without being hit, Siyo falling all the way onto her back, as the pain in her leg flames up.

"Siyo?! Are you okay?!" Migro says in worry for Siyo as he helps her up.
"I'm fine, more importantly, we shouldn't lower our guard, these two are armed!"
"Who said we weren't?!" Migro says as he tosses Siyo one of the two swords the men dropped when he punched them to the ground.
"I'm not very good with swords, nor are they my thing, but I will have to manage." Migro states as he takes a sword stance that makes Siyo giggle.
As Siyo and Migro ready themselves, the two men get up on their feet, however before they can readjust themselves Siyo and Migro rush them with their swords. As Siyo comes into melee range with one of the men, her whole world slows down, and multiple voices fill her mind. "Maybe it's simply not in your nature" Tohka speaks. "You need to try believing in yourself, if you stay so worked up about it, you are just going to be depressed all the time" Angel's voice echos. Siyo's expression changes as she gives the rogue a look of determination as if a fire just lit up in her eyes.
"Shit did we really underestimate these two?! What the hell they're just kids!"
"It's over you lose! I will- Follow in my mothers footsteps! As a hunter of the city of Ryke!" Siyo screams as she stabs straight through the man's chest, causing him to scream and fall to the ground once more. As Siyo catches her breath, Migro slices the other mans arm, and proceeds to knock him out with a fast hit to the head with the hilt of the sword.
"Wow Siyo, I have to say I'm surprised you did what you just did..." Migro says in shock.
"It was nothing really, I just...finally found the answer I was looking for. This is it Migro! I WILL become like my mother. So that I can be a person worthy of being called her daughter when I finally see her again!"
As the shadows cover more of the area, and the sun sets further, the silence after Siyo and Migro's conversation is quickly broken by the sound of someone clapping their hands together, a strong wind blowing in at the same time, almost as if it's meaning for happening then and there was to carry the sound. A womans voice is heard giggling, and slowly building into full blown laughter. Siyo and Migro quickly move their attention to the top of one of the wrecked buildings on their left, and fear immediately fills their mind, finding themselves unable to move, as atop the building stood Exceilot, holding their weapons, and staring right back down at them with her cold evil yellow eyes, and a wide grin across her face.

"That was quite the show, infact watching the dramatic conclusion was all but worth staying out of it! The girl lacking of any resolve whatsoever, finally overcoming her fear of hurting others, or rather should I say finally developing the heart of a warrior?! I suppose I don't know what to call it!" Exceilot says as she holds back her laughter.
"You- You mean you just sat there and watched your men fight!?"
"Oh are you lecturing me about loyalty?! Do you know who I am? I'm human idiot, and I'm a rogue, the last thing you should be lecturing me about is loyalty! Those men were rogue, same as me! They chose to betray the trust of the human race for power, and fortune! There is no loyalty, They were faced with a battle they could not overcome, and to lose to someone like you, they should be ashamed, but I must say, it truly was a fasicnating show."
"You're a sick person!" Migro shouts
"Yes shout more! Your pain, your hate, your despair! That is what makes my job fun, as captain of the Utizo faction... Exceilot!" Exceilot screams out as she drops down from the building, landing with powerful force, to confront Siyo and Migro. The two quickly step back wary of Exceilot's abilities, readying their swords to defend against any attack she may use.
"Migro, her arm...She has a gauntlet, I don't know exactly how it works, but she one hundred percent use it to drop Wendy mid air earlier, we need to be wary of that." Siyo warns Migro.
"You're right, I'm not in my prime right now though, if I had my guns things would be a lot easier here. What do you suggest we do?"
"I will rush her, when she is distracted guarding my attack, I want you to rush her arm, and stop her from using her gauntlet!"
"But what if she uses it on you?"
"then do the same thing, she has to keep that thing on me, and wont be able to use it on you. so in order to stop you from destroying it, she would need to let me go, which would leave her wide open to my oncoming attack."
Exceilot interrupts the two's conversation asking what they are rambling about, and pulls out two daggers from behind her waist. "Aren't you ready to fight?! You are kids so I'm not expecting much, but it should still be fun" Exceilot says with a smile. Siyo counts down from 3 to 0 as her and Migro look at each other, nodding at each other with confidence their plan will work. Siyo sprints as fast as she possibly can torwards Exceilot, so fast that she almost loses her balance.
"A frontal assault?! How bold, I see! I had figured you two were discussing battle strategies, but to think this is what you would come to! I love it!" Exceilot says in amazement. As Siyo closes the gap between her and Exceilot, her attack is blocked by Exceilot using both her daggers, to withstand the force of Siyo's downward slash. Surprised Exceilot hasn't used her gauntlet yet, Siyo shouts for Migro to move in while she holds her in place. Migro rushes Exceilot but suddenly finds himself unable to move, and notices his body surrounded by a thick red mist. "W-What the?!" Migro mutters.
"Impossible, how is she using her gauntlet and holding my attack?!" Siyo says in shock, grunting from Exceilot's force.
"Honestly, was this really your plan?! You really weren't as smart as I took you for, it seems I have overestimated your intellect."
Siyo glances back up torwards Exceilots arm to see her gauntlet activated, and the red mist moving in the direction of Migro, stopping him in mid air, without any movement from her arm. "She can use that ability without pointing her arm at the target?! Damn it! I was naive, she must of done that movement on purpose to throw enemies off!" Siyo says to herself, angry with herself for being to quick to think they could beat Exceilot so easily. Suddenly Siyo is stabbed in the shoulder by Migro's sword, which is now floating in mid air next to her. The attack causes her to grunt and jump backward before it can cut deep. Looking up, Siyo notices the sword is now surrounded in the red mist, and Migro is on his knees.
"Damn it! Can we really beat her?! I don't understand that ability of hers at all!"
In that moment, the shadows in the area are completly engulfed in a bright yellow light, that blinds everyone in the area, including Exeilot. Though confused, Siyo wastes no time using the light to her advantage to run in the direction of where Migro was, despite being blinded. As the light is fading, Exceilot is heard grunting as if being forced to withstand something. When Siyo's vision clears, she is next to Migro, and Exceilot is clashing with Angel, who has an active gauntlet on her arm, amitting a golden light, almost angelic in nature.
"Heya Siyo!... S-Sorry I'm late!" Angel says struggling to keep Exceilot back.
Siyo smiles and expresses her happiness to see Angel, noticing movement in her preferable vision, Siyo looks to her left and right to see Ren and Yui standing next to her and Migro. "Don't worry, we got the message, you did good keeping her busy!" Ren says, while putting his fists together.

8 226The Dog with a Chair
As of now, this story is dropped. It was an excellent learning experience, but the quality suffered too much from me trying new things for me to continue in good concience. Thanks to anyone that read it. I'm leaving this story up as a record of my first ever attempt at publishing something I've wrote. To any new writers out there, remember that even if the stuff you write is trash, you can still learn a lot from writing it. - November 17th 2020 Guy gets involved in advocacy for civil engineering projects, then gets pulled into an interdimensional war. Third person with a focus on one main character (Stanley) with the occasional point of view from another character important to story progression. Writing style tends to shift early on as I figure out how to write (this is my first book). Still learning, hoping to improve. Current style choice is to have a focus on character dialogue/actions with interspersed internal monologue in italics. No current end is set for the story, with the primary goal of this project being to learn to express myself in a written format. Storyline is kept as consistent as practical while covering things I find interesting. Governmental systems are mentioned, but not explained in extreme detail. Sci fi elements are used to reinforce and guide plot progression as I'm able. Personal goals belonging to each character are in the process of being developed, with the hope that they will support or oppose each other in interesting ways later on. Hope you enjoy :)
8 160Conquest of Avalon
Revenge. The Kingdom of Avalon swept across the Empire of the Fox a generation past, conquering the heartlands and leaving the broken remnants to stew in the island duchy of Guerron. This isn't a story of Good versus Evil, of kindly kings doing their best to lift all subjects, or of unvarnished heroes doing battle against evil. Instead, this story is about power: who has it, who wants it, and what people will do to obtain it. It is about the violence inherent in the imperial project and how even the most well-intentioned rulers and conquerors are, still, engaging in systemic violence against those conquered and defeated. Our three point-of-view characters are a peasant turned fire wizard, an excitable duelist with more enthusiasm than sense, and a scheming mage-priestess bent on reclaiming her family's birthright and waging war on the foreign oppressors who rule her home... no matter the cost in blood or treasure.
