《Cecil Bee's Flash Fiction》Cold

Inhuman eyes observed from an unseen dimension.

Sun shone white though cruel cold. A cold that ate flesh. The piercing wind hacked through her protective layers, freezing her down through cartilage. It shrieked as it passed, a life of its own. She leaned against the gale, one foot then two foot. Each step more awful than the last. If only my car hadn’t broken out here.

It slithered forward.

Her fingers were stiff from cold, painful to move. Her toes: numb. Heart slowed. She felt the demand to sleep but something inside her prompted her forward. 1… 2… 1… 2… a steady rhythm.

It inched closer.

Something watched her. She dared not look. To stop is to die. She continued. She didn’t continue. It was upon her.

The high for the day was 30°C. Wind of 10km per hour. 0% chance of rain. Overall, good beach weather.
