Fuck. My everything hurts. Upon regaining my senses, I pulled myself up to look around. Battered but pretty hallway surrounded me on all sides. A stained, musty velvet rug now buried under the debris of the fall was lined with gold and extended to both sides of the hallway. Upon looking closer, it was dried blood that covered the rug. Marble pillars with seemingly once ornate carvings flank the rug. Now they are covered with deep gashes. What is this place?

Diego climbed out from the rubble with cuts and scratches. I guess even his body could not get out of the collapse unscathed. Pucci, however, was neck deep in rocks. The pain they were dealing with was so overwhelming that it spilled out on their usually emotionless face. They really did get it worse than me. They are injured, cold, and exhausted of mana. They must feel like dying right now.

Diego uncharacteristically rushed to pull them out of the debris saying, “You cannot die on me ever, you got that?!” It was an overreaction but it was interesting to see another side of him. A tsu-

Before I could finish that thought, a bang on the metal that seemed to come from the doors behind me rang out.Thankfully, the fallen rocks had given us one blessing and blocked the door from being opened. It seemed we were not alone. I shambled over a side room of the hallway which turned out to be a bedroom. By the fact that it was coated in dust, I was sure that no one would bother us here.

Diego piggy backed Pucci over to the room upon my request out of worry for Pucci, though he himself denied that he was concerned for Pucci. For safe measure, I managed to coax Diego into pushing a heavy dresser in front of the door to the hallway to barricade it by daring him that he could not do it. With his pride in question, he put his all into blocking the door for me.

On the bed, Pucci was being continually wrapped in more and more blankets by Diego, quickly becoming something akin to a cocoon. As for myself, I searched around the room out of curiosity.

The bedroom looked akin to something you would see in the Victorian Era. The walls were covered with flowery wallpaper. A large, silver mirror hung above were the dresser once was. Wiping off a layer of dust, the more I looked at it, the more I saw the old me. Shocked, I backed away from the anomalous mirror.

This thing's mere existence is a threat to me. It proved that there are ways to find out that I am a reincarnator. Though, if that was indeed true, why is not every single person of the church screened for the heresy of reincarnation? Maybe they have not grasped this… technology? Magic? I did not know what to call it. Easing at the thought that my real identity would be safe from discovery, I leaned back on the bed.

Even the roof is marble, huh? I wonder what this place is, or more importantly, what inhabits it. We needed to get out of there as fast as possible yet as things were now, that was impossible. Pucci and I did not have the strength to get back up. Diego seemed to not want to separate from us so we could not request aid. The only available solution was to find the more conventional exit from here yet in these uncharted depths, we may just get lost down here never to be seen again. We needed more information and to regain our strength.

Further searching the room, I found something of use, enchanted boots in the closet. Once I wore them, I checked my stats to find that it gave me five extra agility points. While this may seem poultry to the strong and talented, this was quite a bonus for a weakling like me. The boots themselves were seemingly made from some sort of dark brown leather I have never experienced before. It was very comfortable to wear yet it felt like it could take serious damage and come out fine.

Preparing for bed, I helped Diego take off his armour to which he said something about how I should be honored that I was allowed to help him or something. I was not listening closely as my ears adapted to filter out his bullshit. Since there was only one bed, I sat on a cushioned chair as Pucci and Diego. I was not quite comfortable sleeping with kids. May tomorrow be a better day than this one.
