Hours later, the party was already over, and Mordechai went home to his apartment. He was working on his laptop, and suddenly he received a Skype call from Rahkaze. He answers it and sees his brother dressed in a black T-shirt in his own living room.

“Mordechai, you made it back to the party in one piece! I thought I had to call in the Calvary,” Rahkaze greeted.

“Yeah, you said it was a waste of time, but I found something rather interesting,” Mordechai stated while typing away on his laptop. “Rodney Callens has become Jocelyn Shane’s campaign manager. He has helped run successful political campaigns in the past 20 years. He even helped a couple of presidents become elected.”

“However?” Rahkaze baited, knowing there is more to him than meets the eye.

“He served as a lawyer of the CIA during Nixon’s presidency. He was one of the up and comers.”

“So, Rodney was a hatchet-man during his heyday,” Rahkaze summarizes. “I bet he doesn’t come cheap.”

“He doesn’t get paid by the hour. His services are guaranteed. But how in the world did Jocelyn acquire such a man in the first place?” Mordechai questions. “The money is one thing, but someone had to introduce Rodney to her.”

“Always need to be a connection with you, little brother… You can be worse than father,” Rahkaze teased.

“Because it always is a connection, big brother. 15 million doesn’t fall out of the sky and appear into somebody’s bank account overnight,” Mordechai stated. “You should’ve seen her eyes, brother. The way she snapped at Rodney and me… It really tells the story of a fractured psyche…”

“You should have beaten the living hell out of her!” Rahkaze suggested.

“And I would’ve been charged with aggravated assault, regardless.” Mordechai debunked.

“So? You were defending yourself. Or could have defended yourself it wasn’t for that teenager stepping in.” Rahkaze boasted.

“I wasn’t going to hit her, because it wasn’t worth it. Nor she wouldn’t hurt me anyway. She would’ve injured herself,” Mordechai explained.

“I know, little brother. You don’t fight people who can’t fight back nor who is weaker than you. But it’s a matter of principle sometimes. People will just pick on you and take you for granted because you're nice. Sometimes standing up for yourself and saying what’s on your mind doesn’t really cut it with these people anymore…” Rahkaze reflected.

“She has her own issues…” Immediately, it all started to click together. “The CIA… Jocelyn said she was a part of the military, right? When she was doing her town meetings and all her interviews, not once she brought up her military service.”

Rahkaze sat back in his chair, knowing Mordechai finally made a connection, “Rodney Callens. These old CIA dogs, they always have connections. And they will make sure they will bury the truth to protect someone for their interests. Since when a loudmouth bigot is an ‘interest’ to anyone?”

“Just a haunch, but I need to find out Jocelyn’s military records. The time she served, what missions she has done, even her time of discharge. Either honorably or dishonorably. I’m guessing on the latter,” Mordechai brainstormed.

Rahkaze nodded in agreement, “Callens isn’t the only one who knows few people in the CIA. I will make a few calls in the morning… Oh, and before I go? How many did you receive?” Rahkaze asks with a sly smile.

Mordechai groans at the thought, “25 phone numbers, 11 room key duplicates, and three business cards that deal with adult services…”

“My man!” Rahkaze teases as he laughs. “Well, it is 11:15 right now, so the night is still young. So, here are some pointers: first, don’t talk about the difference between Xbox and PlayStation graphics. Nobody cares about that shit, especially if it’s Netflix. Two, it’s good to conserve your energy by going through the motions instead of just forcing things to happen. Especially a girl that she is too aggressive--”

“Brother, I’m not going anywhere!” Mordechai admitted while blushing.

This made Rahkaze throws hands up out of frustration, “why?!”

“Because I’m not like that! I’m not really into the whole entire casual sex scene in the city. There is a lot of shallow people around here…” Mordechai explained.

Rahkaze had a blank expression on his face, “well, you better start with someone soon. People are starting to talk!”

“Let them talk! Do you honestly think I care?!” Mordechai defended. “And I already put all of those lustful things in the incinerator. God only knows what I would’ve gotten myself into…”

“Whatever…” Rahkaze gives up.

“Whatever to you man! See you tomorrow,” Mordechai ends the video call.

Even when he was younger, females always found him adorable. With his easy-going attitude and his calm demeanor, he made a lot of admirers very easily.

As he has gotten older and more prominent, his popularity skyrocketed. He didn’t mind the attention, it’s just Mordechai wanted to find somebody who is on his level. For the time being, he wanted to focus more on his career than relationships. Right now, he stumbled into something that can expeditiously be a campaign breaker for Jocelyn.
