《Cross Roads: God's Reminder (Book Two)》Chapter 18

Later that night, Jocelyn Shane was en route to the raid as well against doctors’ orders. She also has been suffering from panic attacks that were frequently escalating. Usually, she would use her breathing exercises, but they’re not working. She wanted to go to a psychiatrist, but she doesn’t want anybody to find out. Especially the media and her enemies.
After all, she has made it her unsung mission to get rid of all the ‘demons’ and ‘magical devil worshipers’ in New York City. However, she has a more significant problem: dealing with the Oleander Syndicate and making the Angel of Death happy.
As Jocelyn Shane finally muster enough courage to get out of her chauffeured car. Clutching at her left side, she limps towards Jonathan and Suiyōbi, who has just arrived at the scene. They were being briefed by SWAT Leader Hideo Inaba, a 13-year veteran of the force, and spending five years on the SWAT team.
“So, here’s the situation in the building,” Hideo was about to explain. “This warehouse was going to be selected to be torn down real soon. There are major frail foundations on the second and third floors. People were still using the school as a nursery for only the first floor. There are only two entrances in the warehouse that has been closed off. We do believe the gunmen are on the third floor which has only one entrance; the loft elevator.”
“We don’t know for sure if there are any hostages inside or not,” Suiyōbi added as Hideo agreed with her.
“Yes, there is a hostage in there. So that is why I am keeping--”
“Make sure that is by the book!” Jocelyn interrupted. “I don’t want any of these red riding hoods to be tap dancing out of the courtroom over a technicality!”
Hideo turns around to see her least favorite person in the world, “Counselor, what a pleasant surprise,” Hideo sarcastically said.

“Even if they are hostages inside, we can’t let the stragglers from this Red Arrow group have their way,” Suiyōbi stated.
“My men are getting ready to go whenever we are ready,” Hideo suggested.
“This is my operation now, Hideo,” Jocelyn pressured. “I don’t want any screw-ups. That is why--”
Then suddenly, a Chrome Purple Ferrari 488 GTB drives up in front of them. To no surprise the person driving the car was indeed Andrea, who was fashionably late at the raid. She sees the group and decides to join in while eating a salmon burger.
Jocelyn was naturally offended by this, “do you have any idea the severity of the situation?!”
Playful as ever, Andrea answered while chewing, “well, I do know about the power of protein. Burger’s good. And yeah, I do know they have a bunch of Red Arrow assassins in that abandoned area over there. So, why not Hideo and them… go in there and take them out?”
“There might be hostages inside and/or taking refuge inside that building,” Hideo explained instead of Jocelyn, who was almost about to have a fit.
Andrea is a bit indifferent to the assumption, “Okay, so how do we do this? Find one of these ‘weakened structures’ of the building and go through undetected?”
“How about we have the adults handle the situation?” Jocelyn insulted as Andrea found humor in this.
“Me, being a child, that is priceless. But I don’t have the time to play slap and tickle with you all; there are fourteen members and there waiting to shoot anything on sight,” Andrea reminded.
Watashitachiha junbi ga totonotte ori, watashi no rīdādesu! Karera o ima sugu nyūshu shi, karera ga hairu toki ni karera o hageshiku tataku, was the message being relayed on Hideo’s radio.
“It’s them. Okay, they’re getting ready to attack,” Hideo announced.
“Go. Take them down,” Jocelyn ordered. “And as for the three of you, stay put.”

“So, you’re going to be commissioner now? Make up your mind!” Andrea insulted as Jocelyn rolled her eyes at her and walked away with Hideo.
Jonathan and Suiyōbi were semi-contented on staying put. Unfortunately for them, Andrea wasn’t. Oh, she did contemplate the consequences and repercussions as she took another bite of her burger. But it didn’t take her too long, “I would rather beg for a pardon than to stay put.”
“But the counselor and the SWAT leader told us to stay put,” Jonathan repeated.
“I didn’t hear that; I was too busy eating a sandwich,” Andrea disregarded as she forcibly handed Johnathan the half-eaten burger.
“You know damn well what they both said. To me. To Suiyōbi. To all of us. Just play along for once,” Jonathan urged as Andrea couldn’t help herself with her theatrics.
“Sorry, I can’t hear you either… Maybe I have an ear infection or something… Maybe I need to look around to see if there is some Q-tips or something,” Andrea said and walked away from the two as Jonathan and Suiyōbi have already known for sure she was not looking for Q-tips, nor she had an ear infection, nor she didn’t hear what Jocelyn have to say. She blatantly disregarded authority… Again.
Suiyōbi began to follow her as Jonathan decided to stay put. For now, all he could ever do is stare into the greasy half-eaten burger and reflect on his life’s choices. Catching up with Andrea, Suiyōbi, she met up with her while she was rustling through the trunk of her car. She pulled out something that resembled a harpoon gun and a duffel bag.
Andrea looked over his shoulder to see Suiyōbi, “what?”
Suiyōbi shook her head, “I am coming with you.”
Andrea scoffs, “that’s really… nice of you, Suiyōbi--”
“No, I must go with you. If I don’t, I will never forgive myself if anything would happen to you,” Suiyōbi pleaded.
“All right, carry this,” Andrea relented as she hands Suiyōbi the duffel bag. “Okey-dokey, follow me.”
As Jonathan watches Andrea and Suiyōbi run over to the other side of the street, he couldn’t help what the hell Andrea is up to. But he didn’t really care because he is not losing his job over somebody who can’t follow simple orders.
Meanwhile, Andrea and Suiyōbi rushed over to a small convenience store and went straight to the rooftop. Wasting no time, Andrea took the duffel bag from Suiyōbi and pulled zip lines and cable wire out of the duffel bag. She started to assemble her harpoon gun, “I would fly, but I got this little special something back at a swap meet. 75 bucks. I only used it once. And I don’t want to get shot while I am flying. That would be embarrassing.”
Andrea aimed the harpoon gun at the top of the window panes, “I need confirmation, Suiyōbi.”
“Right,” Suiyōbi uses one of her extraordinary abilities. Through prayer, she can detect any form of life up to 100 yards away, “I do believe you were a little off saying they were fourteen of them there. More like a couple of dozens, and they all have superior weaponry, matching the SWAT team. It’s going to take them a while to make a point of contact. I suggest you aim on the second floor since all of them are being held up on the third.”
Andrea, with the harpoon gun, shoots a dart with attached wire into solid concrete and then takes out the slack and zip over on the taut wire, going through an open window.
