《Multi Me Myself And I》Ch. 12 Hot Spear
Advertisement
The spear flew through the human army like a hot needle through butter. The spear went through humans and horses sending them to their death. The people close by the spear that lived felt relief and fear.
Before they could relax more spears came flying cutting down more of their numbers. It was one goblin and they had already became scared. Lerok didn't stand by and rushed towards Stake.
Stake sent spears flying and Lerok tried to deflect it with his sword. The impact cracked the area around Lerok and pushed him back. Lerok felt like his arm was going to break just from deflecting one spear.
He saw Stake throw another spear away from him. Reinforcing his body with mana he came and deflected the spear with difficulty. Seeing that it was hard to come closer to Stake without his army being pierced through he screamed out an order.
“Mages fire!”
Hundreds of fireballs flew towards Stake and he simply grabbed a spear running away from the impact of the fireballs. Fireball after fireball flew towards Stake and he kept running. Stake goal was to make the mages waste as much mana as possible.
Seeing what he was doing Lerok ordered the mages to stop firing and quickly went towards Stake. With his speed, he reached Stake quickly and the two clashed. Lerok slashed forward while blocking Stake's incoming spear with his shield. The slash missed since Stake dodged and Lerok kept slashing on.
But no matter how many times he tried to land a hit, Stake would always back away from him in time while keeping his distance. Lerok quickly became uncomfortable fighting Stake who was of a lower rank than him. Ever since Lerok was born he had always been able to brute force through things with talent alone.
Stake conserved his mana and didn't use it while he fought with the man before him who was at least 4 times stronger than him. He always made sure to divert the attack force of the man to reduce his attack force if he couldn't dodge.
Lerok felt every time his sword clashed with the Stake spear its power was greatly reduced and he felt frustrated.
“Ice field Lerok chanted.”
A thin sheet of ice spread over the surrounding area. Stake didn't lose his footing though since he had dealt with it before. Stake also looked at Lerok like he was an idiot for calling out his moves but he also understood that calling them out helped focus a mage mind greatly. Deciding to have a little fun Stake also decided to call out an attack in the human language.

“Pinpoint.”
Stake spear went forward and Lerok blocked with his shield. He felt the spear coming towards him had concentrated mana so he quickly reinforced his shield with mana. The spear landed and Lerok blocked the attack but his shield had a crack on it.
On the sideline, the mages came close and started buffing Lerok with spells while the army slowly enclosed on Stake. Stake knew they were enclosing on him but he let them do it.
Soon Stake was in the center of an army and Lerok stood in front of him like his victory was assured. Stake looked at the surrounding with his green eyes and looked at Lerok. He looked down at his spear which was broken and dropped it.
He then looked at Lerok while arching his back with his fist ready to punch. Lerok saw it as Stake's the last stand so he prepared his mana to cut him down. Before Lerok went to attack, Stake screamed a high pitch sound again.
The ground cracked and shaken after Stake's scream. The human army lost their footing and the mages quickly used float on themselves. The ground collapsed with people screaming everywhere.
Lerok saw the sight and he was shocked. In that split moment where he was shocked Stake flew at him with his fist imbued with 80% of his mana. The punch landed straight on Lerok face and he flew towards the collapsing ground falling along with his army.
Stake used the mana left to fly off the collapsing ground. The mages saw him fly away and fired fireballs at him. Before more mages could fire at him, fireballs started flying from the surrounding towards the mages.
The mages quickly saw goblin mages in the forest hurling fireballs at them and they shielded themselves. Unfortunately, there were too many fireballs and most human mages quickly fell. Some mages manage to escape by flying and weaving through the fireballs.
Seeing that most human mages were down the goblins quickly fired fireballs into what looked like a goblin-made cavern where most humans fell in. Fireballs after fireballs fell into the cavern and the scream of humans rang out.
The human tried everything they could to survive the onslaught of fireballs from dodging to shielding. Lerok who fell into the cavern quickly got up and rose towards the sky but fireballs were everywhere and it was really hard for him to get out.
Soon fireballs quit flying in and a goblin army inside the cavern came charging towards the devastated human army. Among the goblin army, the goblin king came in roaring. The goblin king was a fat goblin with green skin, tattoos, and stood at a height of 9 meters. In the goblin king hand was a large tree that was used by him as a club.

Lerok saw the goblin king and decided to take it out first so that the goblin morale would fall. He flew towards the goblin king and the goblin king swung forth the club. The club landed on Lerok shield and Lerok was pushed back.
Lerok was a low rank 2 but only his mana stat was low rank 2. The rest of Lerok stat wasn't better than the goblin king besides his agility. Seeing that he couldn't win in physical strength, Lerok strengthen his body with mana while setting his sword in a fire with intense heat.
Lerok flew towards the goblin king and the goblin king reinforced his club with mana. The two clashed and the goblin king was pushed back. When the goblin king was pushed back he had revealed an opening. Seeing this, Lerok pushed fowards and stabbed his sword into the goblin king's head.
The goblin king roared in pain. Knowing he couldn't run away, he decided to reinforce his arm with most of his mana and grabbed Lerok who could get away in time. After grabbing Lerok the goblin king tightened his grip on Lerok.
Lerok felt his bone-cracking and reinforced his body with mana. The goblin king's grip was strong but soon his grip started weakening. The sword was still in the goblin king's head and would have killed him instantly if he had not protected his conscience with mana.
The goblin mages around the goblin king saw this and reinforced him with mana while giving mana to him. A goblin fighter got on the goblin king's face and pulled out the sword. The goblin mages then healed the goblin king head.
Feeling safe and his strength back the goblin king felt something. The mana core in his body pulsated and it broke through its limit. The goblin king had reached low rank 2 with his mana and became a goblin emperor.
Lerok too felt the advancement of the goblin king into emperor but he didn't lose hope. He instead refocussed his mind and conjured a wave of fire around himself. The fire burned every goblin within the vicinity.
The goblin emperor didn't burn however since he now had a mana barrier. The two were in a stalemate but Lerok soon got his lead back. Without the goblin mages supplying the goblin emperor with mana, the goblin emperor soon lost his mana barrier and burned.
His screams echoed around but he didn't let go since he knew he was dead if he let go. Although there was no mana left reinforcing his hand to grip Lerok tighter, most of Lerok bones had already broken and it was very hard and painful to get out of his grip.
Lerok was talented, but he wasn't talented enough to keep a wave of fire around himself, reinforce his body, and heal his body at the same time. He could only do two of them at once. Lerok felt his mana draining quickly and he knew that he would soon lose all his mana and the goblin army would besiege and kill him.
The goblin emperor was in the same position as him and he wanted to let go and go towards his goblin mages to heal but he knew he couldn't let go. If he let go of Lerok then there was a high chance for Lerok to heal his body instantly. After healing Lerok would most likely kill him before he could make it towards his goblin mages.
The two held on trying to survive. The goblin emperor felt his death inching closer. As his death came closer he felt his mind became clearer and more peaceful. Slowly mana around him came towards him. The mana around him entered his body and healed him.
The goblin emperor felt like he was in a wonderful trance. What the goblin emperor felt currently was called mana mind. It was a state that only a few people that used mana were able to enter. In this state, one could absorb and access mana in their head.
This state gave one double mana. With the mana he had access to the goblin looked into Lerok eyes. He looked at Lerok as if Lerok was his doll. Lerok felt the change of the goblin emperor and he knew he was dead.
The goblin emperor used mental pressure on Lerok and stopped his wave of fire. The only thing Lerok could do was to keep reinforcing his body mana. The goblin mages came close and stared at their emperor with awe and amazement while quickly healing and reinforcing him.
The goblin emperor enjoyed the gave of his subjects. He looked deeper into Lerok eyes and grinned. Opening his jaw and reinforcing it with mana he bit Lerok head off. After that, he tossed Lerok body into his mouth and ate it. While eating the goblin emperor thought about Stake and decided he didn't need to suppress the guy or kill him anymore.
The human army who were left saw that their commander had died and they soon fell to waves of goblins.

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
