《Multi Me Myself And I》Ch. 2 Running From Bears

Kalos Bez Rosh was running away in the wood after a terrible day. He was the youngest son of a duke and his whole family had been killed off after the king decided to take care of all the pests.
Kalos's father had always known a storm was brewing when the new prince of the Tawn kingdom took over. The prince had never liked nobles. He had always been openly hostile with the noble. The nobles had always sent assassins after him but they never succeeded since he had the backing of the grand mage and his mother who was a grand witch.
Soon the prince became king after his father died and anyone who didn't submit to him died. Kalos father was on the left side faction which didn't support the new king and he soon would die for it.
When the prince became king, Kalos father and the left side faction his father was part of sent armies to make the prince give into their demand. But even with the armies sent the left side faction knew they couldn't win. The left faction had a different plan.
To explain, even with all the army from the left faction combine, they still wouldn't be able to take down the new king because of his backing. What they wanted was for the new king to give into their demand or destroy their armies which would weaken the kingdom greatly which might cause invasion from other kingdoms.
Now why would the nobles not just submit to the new king instead of sending their armies to be destroyed. Well that's because a witch planted a little voice in their head about how they should go against the new king.
The new king gave into their demand and when they had a meeting to agree, the new king did a 360 no scope and killed everyone from the left side faction whiling forcing their army into his service.
Kalos was currently running from five assassins sent to kill him because his father was from the left side faction. His two knights beside him were fighting off the assassins.
Running into the pine tree forest through the woods he tried to run as fast as he could. After a few minutes, he saw the assassins caught up. One of the assassins came close to him but a bear came out of the wood roaring and scaring the assassin. The bear was nine meters tall on its hind leg and its claws looked deadly.
The assassins were talented and they regain their composure quickly. One went up to the bear and deflected its attack with their dagger and another went behind the bear. After getting behind the bear they jumped on its back and slit its throat with a dagger infused with mana.

Just when they were about to resume chasing after Kalos a magical bear three times bigger than the bear they killed came charging at them roaring. The bear was most likely the mother bear of the bear they killed.
The assassins didn't run as they knew the bear was faster than them and they held their ground while two assassins went after Kalos. The mother bear was strong and they tried the same tactics they used on the first bear. Unfortunately for them, they underestimated the enraged magical beast and they got slashed to death quickly.
The assassins were made to kill humans, not bears that even great knights who could easily kill off assassins like them didn't stand a chance against. The bear looked at its offspring and roared in sadness.
On the other side of the forest, Kalos reached close to a cliff with a waterfall that was a hundred meters high and the assassin came close to him again. Before the assassin could attack, another magical bear came out and attacked. This magical bear was the father bear and it roared paralyzing the assassins.
Kalos too got paralyzed and he saw the bear made way to the assassins and killed them. The paralyzation wore off and Kalos was backed to a waterfall. The bear came charging at him and Kalos jumped off the cliff.
The bear couldn't stop its momentum and fell off the cliff with Kalos. The two fell down the waterfall screaming. The bear was the first to reach the ground and its body slammed on the rocks under the waterfall making it fly and roll off to the side of the waterfall.
Kalos was lucky and hit the water. He reached the surface and tried to swim to the river side but his body was too young and he couldn't swim very well. Looking into the distance he saw that bear stayed still and it was very bloody. Kalos was soon dragged away by the current while staying afloat.
After a while, the bear's body started twitching and it got up. Slowly it crawled away to where its partner was last at. A magical bear was very tough and could survive horrendous damage.
Kalos on the other hand floated for hours in the river and he might have gotten hypothermia if it weren't for the mana he had to keep his body warm. Soon he reached the shallow part of the river and got out of the river. He came to a meadow and walked far enough till he got tired and just laid on the grass while facing the sun. He felt warm all over his body and soon fell asleep.

Kalos had a weird dream while he was sleeping. He was in a bedroom and it seem he had just woken up. The dream felt very realistic and Kalos could even think in it. He looked towards the door leading out of the bedroom.
He got up and went towards the door and opened it. From outside the door, Kalos saw nothing but darkness. He closed the door and got back on his bed and tried to sleep the dream away. Just as he was about to sleep the room had a rumbling.
Kalos felt scared and he looked towards the door. The door opened and someone came in. He had scars all over him and he had purple hair. He came in with a chain in his hand and he looked threatening. Kalos was only seven years old so he was very afraid.
He could run from the bear and assassins but he couldn't run away from his dream. The man came close to him and with his chain, he whipped at him. Kalos flinched and woke up.
He woke up but he couldn't control his body. Maybe this was another dream but he felt it was reality. He tried to control his body but he felt chains tying him up. Soon his body started to move and it did many things. He saw his body learned to increase its mana capacity and absorb mana at an astonishing rate.
He felt scared and happy at the same. He thought maybe his destiny was going to change and he could take revenge until a voice spoke behind him.
"Hey, kid."
Kalos closed his eyes and when he opened them he saw he was back in the bedroom. He looked at the man with a chain in front of him smoking. With a closer look, now that he wasn't very scared anymore he saw that the man had tattoos on his arm and side.
"You listening kid?"
Kalos looked at him whiling removing his thoughts and answered.
"Yes, I'm listening."
The man nods and spoke.
"When people die in their dream they die forever. I'm here to tie you up with chains so you don't fade away and die."
Kalos became shocked and had a grateful look but then he became scared. "What do you mean by die in a dream?"
"To explain kid, right now you're stuck in the place between life and death. Me and my boys came and took over your body. I woke up before the boys and started practicing mana very quickly as soon as I found out you were dying. Right now I'm the only connection you have to the living world."
Kalos was scared and asked. "Why am I dying?"
The man shrugged his shoulder. "If I had to guess, you've probably been cursed by someone and is now to die soon. Can you tell me who you think cursed you?"
Kalos shocked his head. "I don't know who cursed me."
The man in front of him sighed. "That's too bad kid cause I'm running out of mana and once my mana is gone, you going to disappear."
Kalos didn't want to accept his death and thought about who could have cursed him. The conclusion he could only come up with was the grand witch.
"I think the grand witch cursed me," Kalos spoke with sadness.
"I don't know who the grand witch is kid, why don't you tell me all about your story and I might get revenge for you."
Kalos shook his head. "I'll tell you my story but don't kill the grand witch, it won't bring me back to life and you don't stand a chance against her."
"Ok then kid, I won't try to get revenge for you, but for someone your age your pretty mature."
"Thank you." Kalos could only nod. Inside Kalos thanked the grand witch for helping in the murder of his father since his father abused and killed his mother.
Kalos looked at him. "By the way, I haven't gotten your name yet sir."
The man laughed. "I didn't get your name either, I go by JJ what's yours?"
Kalos smiled at him. "My name is Kalos."
JJ who has been standing the whole time with chains in his hand that was becoming more transparent went to a desk in the bedroom and grabbed a chair. He came back and sat on the chair close to Kalos.
JJ smiled at Kalos. "Tell me your story Kalos."
Kalos nod and told his story. JJ never interrupted his story and from Kalos's story, JJ learned many things about this world that were useful information. Soon JJ chains faded and Kalos died.
JJ looked at the spot where Kalos died and spoke. "You were a pretty good storyteller kid, I'll remember it for quite a while."
JJ disappeared from the space and went away from the disappearing dream. In the physical world, he saw the other two of himself hunting for food. By food, he saw them stalking an injured giant bear getting ready to kill it.
