Chapter 5 - Jack's Past
After our great escape from the village, we decided to stay outdoors for the night, what a waste of money on the inn. I can only summon portable bases 3 times per month, next time is the last time I can summon one.
We ate some more omelette for dinner because omelette is best! I got myself 6 plates of omelette whilst Jack got 1.
“Give me seconds.”
“No.”
“You had 6 plates, there’s still more, give me.”
“No, they’re all mine.”
“Give me more, you fat useless Goddess.”
“You’re sleeping on the ground tonight.”
“Tch.”
Hahaha, I’ve won now! I will make you forever be in pain, I will create a cult and dominate the world! Wait, I sound like an evil God now.
“What’s with that sinister smile on your face? What are you? An evil God?”
“Nope, you saw nothing. Wow look at the time, it’s time to sleep. Night!”
“There are no clocks in here and- hey! Don’t fall asleep yet! I’m still hungry!”
I continued to ignore the annoying Jack and fell into a deep slumber.
[Sleep Levelling Leveled up to Level 2!]
“Mmhmm! Mmmmm! He! HEY!”
“SHUTUP!”
“You’re finally awake.”
“Give me a few more minutes, it’s too cold and the pillow is swallowwwwinnggg myyyy… connnn…”
“HEY! WAKE UP, YOU USELESS GODDESS!”
“Noisy… teh!”
A sharp pain was felt on my head and I woke up finding Jack’s hand on my head, he withdrew his hand and flicked my forehead.
“Hey! You can’t just casually hit my face!”
I protested against Jack who was diverting his gaze, how annoying.
“Quit whining and cook me something, I’m hungry.”
“I won’t give you any breakfast.”

“Oh my, I might accidentally slip my hand onto your head-”
“I’ll prepare breakfast straight away!”
I quickly rushed to the kitchen and prepared cooking magic whilst brushing my teeth.
POV Jack
Kurogami, a ‘Goddess’ is accompanying me. She had a sloppy attitude despite having a grand title of Goddess, she didn’t do anything impressive. At first, I was amazed by her very presence and respected her due to her title but my opinion quickly changed, she was like a little sister who was very easy to tease.
We lived in one room together but she doesn’t seem to mind much and often made weird gestures and expressions. Kurogami- no, Goddess Kurogami had an open atmosphere around her but was very annoying which balanced her personality in my opinion, although I never thought of her as a Goddess but instead a friend or sister due to her lack of divinity, the fact that she is a Goddess can’t be ignored.
Whilst thinking of such things on the floor, I went up to the sleeping Kurogami and looked at her defenceless lax expression, it was pretty cute, I wanted to pinch her soft puffy cheeks and wake her up, I want to bully her due to my painful hunger. I slowly lost my consciousness as I stared at Kurogami who was fast asleep.
“Mmmm…”
I slowly opened my eyes and before me was Kurogami’s face only several centimetres from mine, I slept in the same bed as her. I better get off the bed and wake her up now before I get smite for sleeping with a Goddess.
I tried to wake her up several times by poking her cheeks and calling her name but she didn’t react. Seeing her in the state she was in made me instinctively chopped her head. She finally woke up after the chop and after threaten- I mean, asking her nicely with force, she made some nice breakfast.

I was only hated since birth, my parents were dead when I was 4 and I lived alone, but despite the hate against I found some nice companions during my first time at the adventurer guild, some took care of me who was 10 at the time and taught me many things.
Baby wyvern subjugation quest, a higher-end quest for rank C adventurer parties.
“Arghhh!”
“AHHHHH!”
Before me were 2 of very few that partied with me, they were the most frequent to party with me but… before me…. They’re being torn limb to limb, blood spilling out from their decapitated arms like a water fountain in the capital and their expression showed pain, agony, it was very distorted.
After finishing off my friends, the 2 baby wyverns about 1m in length approached me filled with hunger in their eyes and their poisonous tails directed at me. I thought I was going to die and fear quickly took over me but fortunately, a nearby guild staff stepped in for me, the guild staff was there to warn us about the misinformation about there being 2 baby wyverns but It was all too late.
After rescuing me, the guild staff escorted me back to town where I had to undergo mental rehabilitation for 9 months before being able to function probably and talk. I continued adventuring after begging in the cold streets for a year, my mental scar was still there but I quickly recovered to be able to kill monsters.
I decided to leave the main continent and head towards the beast nation due to much harsh discrimination against me because of my race. I landed on a minor island which stood between the main continent and the second continent, the island wasn't well known to have any difficult monsters due to there being primarily goblins, boars and orcs inhabiting the island. Selling off all of my adventuring gear in exchange for enough money for a ride, I doubted there would be an encounter with anything strong.
I was wrong and saved again, but the one who saved me was different from others. Kurogami, a name I will never forget.

Protagonist: The Whims of Gods
Book one now also on Amazon! After quitting her job as a therapist and grabbing some work at a dog shelter, Tess's life became pretty slow. A tad boring, even. It thus came as no small surprise when she was chosen by a god. Thrust into a new world where magic, monsters, and character levels are suddenly a reality, Tess will quickly find that just surviving can be a challenge. It doesn't help that dark forces are stirring, she's woefully underpowered, and that spiders keep trying to claw her face off. One thing's for certain, though: The possibilities are endless. Will she end up wrestling a dragon? Becoming an arch-mage? Opening a quaint, bookstore, coffee shop, and wine bar for elves? The choice is hers... As long as she can live long enough to make it. Protagonist is a fairly classic LitRPG novel with character levels, classes, stats, settlements, and other LitRPG elements. Unlike a lot of LitRPG stories, while the protagonist has some perks, she doesn't start off overpowered. You can expect to see her struggle as she advances. This novel also takes the opportunity to explore some less frequently seen builds, shying away from any min-maxing. Chapters are about ~2000-3000 words and are released at 8:00am ET every other day.
