“I’m sorry… I didn’t quite get that. Did you just say that you were going to prison to rescue your killer?!”

*inhales deeply*

"Alaya, brace yourself for what I'm about to tell you."

YESTERDAY

“What…”

I stood there bracing myself for at least 5 minutes before responding. To say I was speechless is an understatement. I thought, what sick joke is this? I clenched my fist and jaw and then held my chin high before speaking.

“You want me to do what now?”

“Go to prison…”

Ah… So I didn’t lose my mind.

“I’m sorry, but I think you’re mistaken. You see, I’m a cop. I put people in prison, not break them out of it!”

The screen again lit up with the entrance of 3D imagery; depicting schematics and blueprints for a building. No doubt, the one in question.

“We know exactly who you are Mr. Bishop. Graduated at the top of your class at high school, university and again at the Academy. You completed your Safety and Security Corporation Division training in under a year and was promoted to ranking officer in two months after working full time. Your I.Q is 143, your parents abandoned you on the steps of the SSC Main office and you were adopted by Adam Bishop whose wife filed for legal separation when you were just four. Like we said, we know who you are and what we want. The only question is… are you up for it?”

The Genesis Era is the result of a treaty among the three remaining nations on earth. Each Country ruled by its own Government that has to answer to a single world leader who has to intern answer to its people and its Government. The World leaders are separate from the Government and act more as heads with the Highest Level of Authority. The Countries: Apollo is the Land of Medicine, Research, and Development. Demeter is the land of Agriculture and Janus is the land of Technology. The Prison i.e. the Correctional and Detainment Facility was built on an island, situated in the direct center of the three countries.

The Prison is in part run by an A.I and manually operated by human workers in areas considered non-hazardous. The Government has approved an initiative to convert the entire Facility to be fully computerized as of January 8th.

“You need to get in and get out with my son before this happens. Otherwise, you will both be stuck there forever.”

Forever… ?

So I’m supposed to risk my life and freedom to save some murderous kid!

“Stop me if I’m wrong, but aren’t you three like the most powerful human beings alive. Can’t you fucking poof him out of prison? Or better yet, get someone else to do your dirty work?”

The tension in the room was rising, I glanced to my left awaiting any sudden movement from the guards. I wonder if they had any contingency plan if I were to turn down their offer.

“Yes, we are technically the most powerful men in the world. But I think you forget that no one is above the law. If we are in any way linked to this crime, World Leader or not we will all be thrown in jail or prosecuted.”

A great look of desperation came from Mr. Lu as he took a picture from his desk and gazed at it before proceeding.

“He was only one when I last saw him. His mother is a good woman but a bit naïve, to say the least. He’s not a bad kid Mr. Bishop. He’s my only son, and I wasn’t there for him his entire life; I need to be there now. I would do it myself, but we need you… we need the best!”

“And quite frankly Mr. Bishop” Mr. Phillips interrupted “Time is of the essence.”

PRESENT

*exhales deeply*

“Do you understand now?”

Her petrifying look of confusion was stolen from my inner thoughts. Alaya walked over to her cabinet, reached for a bottle of vodka and took a shot.

“Oh, my damn…” She started “Holy fuck you’re screwed!”

“Well thank you for pointing that out Captain Obvious!”

“Well, clearly you can’t go. That’s the equivalent of digging your own grave!”

“So is, 'Not going' …”

She looked at me all confused. I walked over to the window and gently nudged the curtain to the left as I pointed. “See that van across the street?”

She came in closer and peaked. “Yeah!”

“That’s not a damn Ice cream truck. I’m pretty sure they’ve been following me since I left my apartment. They're probably tracking my U.I as well. You see if I say no, they’re just going to kill me anyway.”

“To cover up their tracks…” She stepped back as she said this and proceeded to grip her hair from the root down to the tip with both hands in fear. “There’s no way out of this… Even if we tried to tell the Government, we have no real proof. We’d probably get thrown in jail for the accusation.”

She finally went over to her desk for another shot of Vodka, and we stood there in quiet wondering how long it will take before one of us finally loses it…

“What are you going to do?”

“The only thing I can do…

I have to kill him before... he kills me!”
