《Magic is Power》Chapter 2

What was this screen? It looked like a computer screen that was right in front him, except it wasn't. The screen was transparent and he could visualise it in his head. Wait a second that voice I heard right now, that was really weird. Am I dreaming?
As Gray was thinking he read “Character Info” on the screen.
The Character information screen would display the information of a character. Gray knew about it from playing video games. He then naturally thought of scrolling down, what was shocking was that the screen actually moved as he thought of this.

“Woah, this is really elaborate..” in fact, the fact that the status showed that his fatigue was zero matched with how he felt.
“Uh...All these weird things are happening at once”
It was late at night, the skyscrapers in the vicinity looked beautiful. The moon looked bright and beautiful.
“Maybe I should grab some fresh air”
Gray changed his clothes to a black tracksuit and shirt and walked out of the hospital room and down the hallway. Many nurses noticed him but assumed that he was just a visitor. He walked out of the building.
The cold breeze hit his face.
Beep
“What's that?”
System Notification: You have one unread message
Gray then intuitively thought about opening the message.
Quest: Eliminate all enemies
“Enemies?”
Gray looked around clueless but he was moving around very cautiously. Deep in his heart he knew that something was wrong, he needed to survive whatever this scenario was. Gray walked around the area and looked everywhere. However, he then suddenly found himself in a small junction area and noticed a dark narrow path on the sidewalk.

What he saw inside was what could only be explained as a dungeon gate. The gate had a circular black surface. It felt like you would be sucked in if you walked too close to it. Then, he saw a small creature walk out of the gate.
The creature had dark green eyes and was holding a small knife. He saw a orange colored name on top of the creature.
“Level 1 Goblin?”
Suddenly six or seven more of these creatures walked out of the gate and the gate instantly disappeared.
Gray instantaneously took a defencive stance, he needed to survive. At this point he knew that whatever was happening was real. He had no choice but to fight.
The goblin in front of the group ran forward and swung his knife. Gray dodged and kicked the goblin in the face. The creature fell back and a bar above his head had fallen by one third.
“Three more kicks then?, this should be easier than I thought.”
The goblins came at Gray one by one while he only dodged their attacks and hit them back with either a kick or a punch. When they finally realised that this human was capable of beating them in a one on one fight, they decided to attack Gray together.
The seven goblins rushed towards Gray in a frenzy. This was a difficult situation. Gray moved back and kicked away the hand of the first goblin that was trying to stab him. He then kicked away the knife so that the goblin couldnt use it.
As he did this three other goblins were close to Gray and within attacking range. He punched the goblin closest to him and moved back. The bar above the goblins head disappeared. It stopped moving.

“Huh? What's this?”
The character info screen said that he had 3 ability points available to distribute. Gray glanced over at the goblins rushing at him and moved back and quickly used the system again.
“Let's put all three in strength”
By this point the goblins seemed to be very angry. They moved closer to Gray and it looked like they were going to catch him off guard. However, Gray was instead rushing over to them.
Any person right in the head wouldn't dare to fight such creatures. The goblins were not scared of death and had a little intelligence. But, Gray felt stronger after using the ability points. In fact, he felt that his punches and kicks became heavier, like they were carrying more weight. Another thing he noticed was that the name of the goblins had changed from orange to white. They seemed less powerful.
Gray sidestepped as he moved closer and blocked one of the Goblins' attacks. The very next moment he landed a solid punch on one of the goblins face.
There were four goblins remaining, the goblins instantly retreated back after seeing that Gray had killed another one of their friends.
Gray smiled after seeing their reaction.
“Huh? Are you scared of me now?”.
The next second Gray aggressively moved towards the rest of the goblins. He was able to easily take care of all of them.

Waking Up
The story of Larin the Builder in the aftermath of Awakening This short story is the epilogue of Awakening, the first book of the Chronicles of Mother's Gate series. This epilogue is a great follow-up to the novel, a bonus story that adds extra layers between books without being necessary to the main storyline.Waking Up follows the story of Larin, who is alive but unconscious after her ordeal in the Nine Hells. She awakens in A'lara City a few days later and recuperates under the steadfast care of her repentant friend Jorn.As she reacclimates to her waking state, Larin struggles with her gruesome memories of the Hells and her decision to conceal them from Jorn. This story answers the question, Is Larin all right? with a resounding yes, and some storms on the horizon. It also raises the question, What happened to her down there? and includes an excerpt from the sister story Falling Down, about Larin's ordeal in the Nine Hells. Praise for Waking Up and Falling Down: Loved it. The difference between the two stories is great! The difference between Waking Up and Falling Down is astounding. So much light and love in the first story. You feel safe reading it. Healing. The second, so much darkness, pain and despair. The choice of vocabulary is awesome and makes an impact. And this set of short stories ties the two books together so well.-- Dana V. of Texas ★★★★★

Homeland
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER -- In Cory Doctorow’s wildly successful Little Brother, young Marcus Yallow was arbitrarily detained and brutalized by the government in the wake of a terrorist attack on San Francisco—an experience that led him to become a leader of the whole movement of technologically clued-in teenagers, fighting back against the tyrannical security state.A few years later, California's economy collapses, but Marcus’s hacktivist past lands him a job as webmaster for a crusading politician who promises reform. Soon his former nemesis Masha emerges from the political underground to gift him with a thumbdrive containing a Wikileaks-style cable-dump of hard evidence of corporate and governmental perfidy. It’s incendiary stuff—and if Masha goes missing, Marcus is supposed to release it to the world. Then Marcus sees Masha being kidnapped by the same government agents who detained and tortured Marcus years earlier.Marcus can leak the archive Masha gave him—but he can’t admit to being the leaker, because that will cost his employer the election. He’s surrounded by friends who remember what he did a few years ago and regard him as a hacker hero. He can’t even attend a demonstration without being dragged onstage and handed a mike. He’s not at all sure that just dumping the archive onto the Internet, before he’s gone through its millions of words, is the right thing to do.Meanwhile, people are beginning to shadow him, people who look like they’re used to inflicting pain until they get the answers they want. Fast-moving, passionate, and as current as next week, Homeland is every bit the equal of Little Brother—a paean to activism, to courage, to the drive to make the world a better place.
