《Fallen》Trouble in the lobby

A man with blood-stained clothes walked into the hotel. He wore a tux with that was slightly wrinkled in the front and the dark stains were obvious of the splattered blood. I assumed it had just been another victim he had enjoyed. Scanning up to his face a mischievous smile was cracked along his thin lips. He was standing tall scanning the room. His eyes meet mine for a split second; I looked away staring downward, examining my glass intently that was filled with a thick red liquid.
“Ah, and here I heard you were dead.” His voice was cocky and I could sense his smirk spilling with enthusiasm. He stepped beside my chair placing a dirty hand on my shoulder. Becoming angered by the motion I moved my jaw placing aggression in an obvious expression. The hand was removed slowly.
He then walked past me and sat down from across the way in a comfortable chair that resembled the one I, myself, was sitting in. He leaned forward folding his hands and continued to smirk in a devilish way. His light blue eyes which resembled that of crystals, staring into my golden colored.
“Careful, your horns might show.” I mocked letting a small smile rise then fall.
He scoffed feeling at ease.
Leaning back in his leather seat he gestured for a drink in a gentleman like mannerism. A small child in a hotel uniform came forth supplying him with one similar to mine. The boy's black hair slicked to the side and his albino like skin glowing politely with his burning red eyes. The boy then shuffled away and the man took his time before speaking. He was swirling the drink then took a small sip. I did the same.
“So tell me…” The man started. “What is a fallen like you doing in a child like that?” His expression became stern and serious but I showed no emotional change. Instead, I simply cocked my head remembering what my outward appearance was.
“This was the only vessel that could hold me. I didn’t have any other choice.” My small voice became harsh cutting into the man's chest. I sat my drink down at a small round table beside me then brushed my soft black bangs to the side. He nodded eyeing my small childlike figure.

“Crowe, how did you know I would be here?” I asked sighing in slight frustration.
His eyes flickered. “It gives me tingles when you take control of a conversation.” His smile grew displaying perfectly sharp teeth. I sat silently watching his lips as he took another drink trying to hide his giddy enthusiasm.
”Well, your soul suddenly disappeared from my view. I took a guess. After all, this is the one place you love the most.” He said gesturing widely to the area around us.
“I don’t love this place.” I cut in abruptly.
Crowe’s face showed confusion and his smile faded into a thin line.
My small brows furrowed together in frustration at his stupidity.
“I despise it, My father gave this to me to run. A burden that crushes me. I only keep it to prove I’m strong.”
Crowe shifted. “I see, your…. Father…” His voice was low and hesitant, I could tell that even with a small mention like that, struck fear. We were silent for a while taking in long and short sips from our drinks, listening as people checked in and out of the hotel.
I took another sip.
“Crowe…”
“Yes?”
“How do you see this glass?”
“Um… what do you mean?”
“I mean, what do you think is in my glass?”
He shifted again.
“Human blood?”
I smiled. Tapping my nail against the glass.
“Yes, and do you know why I drink human blood?”
“Because we are demons.” He looked around seeing black eyes shine in the darkly lit hotel.
“ Ah… you see Crowe, that is where you are wrong. You are a demon, everyone that checks into this hotel is a demon, all the waiters here are demons, yet I, am a Fallen.”
He gulped. Trying to figure out where the conversation was going. I lifted my glass examining the liquid, swirling it around a little.
“Crowe…”
“Yes?”
“Do you know what a fallen is?”

“Of course…. It’s… an angel that was cast out of heaven. A Fallen is one that loses its wings and all its power and ability to ever receive grace.”
“And…” I pushed
“They… become monsters.” He sounded minuscule and afraid, as if his answer would upset or off throw something.
I set my drink down one again.
“Do you know what’s different from them and me?”
“You… still, have your wings”
“Which means what Crowe.”
“You still have your powers...”
I looked Crowe in the eye. Taking note of his every feature. His long brown hair was greased over to the left side and he was well shaven, his ears pointed slightly and his icy blue eyes glowed.
“That's right Crowe. That’s right...” I said smirking.
I stood up letting my twelve-year-old body stretch. My smirk faded and was replaced with a childish scowl.
“Crowe… next time you enter my hotel. Make sure you’re not followed.” I drew in a long breath seeing one of his bushy eyebrows raise. He turned toward the glass window wall seeing a line of wolves. Crowe arose at once.
“I… I swear I didn’t know.”
I sighed turning my body toward the entrance doors as a wolf stepped inside.
It instantly transformed into a man wearing ragged street clothes and smelled like cheap beer. I gritted my teeth at the sight.
“I'm sorry, didn’t you see the sign. No dogs allowed.” I grunted.
He laughed. “Please, who would listen to a Fallen like you. Especially in that body… ” He smiled displaying sharp yellowing teeth. I clenched at the sight digging my nails into my palms.
“I’m saying this to you as a warning. Get out of my hotel.” My tone took and I raised my head to seem taller than my 5”4 self.
Tension rose throughout the main office area. Demons that were present halted to watch the showdown. Crowe walked over to my side bending slightly to reach ear level.
“Come now… let’s finish this.” His voice tickled my neck and a seductive look formed in my eyes. My arm rose aiming right at the Licen. The lights started to flicker and a high frequency could be heard. The wolf twitched at the sound becoming uncomfortable. He clamped his hands over his ears groaning.
Blood started to trickle from his eyes. The rest of his pack outside winced and crumbled to the ground unable to withstand it like their leader.
At the sight of his comrades he raged.
“You Bitch!”
My golden eyes glowed letting off an angelic presence.
I smiled feeling the pleasure from his pain.
“Burn In Hell!” He screamed.
“ Already been there dear, didn’t really work for me.”
My fingers snapped and the sound of their bodies being torn apart echoed throughout the hall. Blood spurted in every direction letting off a dreadful smell.
My arm silently fell back to my side.
“ June,” I called sternly.
A woman with the hotel crest on her cheek appeared.
“Yes, ma’am?”
“ Clean up this mess... I hate the smell of dog.” I turned and headed toward the silver elevator doors.
“Hey. Shadow,” called Crowe. His voice seeming breathless.
I stopped. “Yes, Crowe?”
“ ...you sure you’re a fallen...”
“I am… just, not exactly…”
“One more thing,” Crowe called hesitantly.
I looked over my shoulder silent.
“You’re gonna have to show me how you did that.”
I smiled letting warmth flood my petite body.
“Maybe some other time. But please, be sure to check into the hotel.” I took a step into the metal box and hit the 13th floor.

Cybernetic Dragon
Idea Seven, or Inter Dimensional Explorer Automaton Unit-7, has had a bit of an accident. Hijacking the egg of a dragon rather than its intended target of a bird egg, it isn't fully in control of its host brain. Rather the two, dragon and cybernetic AI interface, must work together to survive in a hostile world of magic, dungeons, beasts and adventurers. The AI must deal with being a machine from a world of science trying to carry out its mission of exploration, while the dragon, Rex, must deal with being a cyborg living with symbiotic nanotech that sets him apart from other dragons. What adventures await them? Author Note: I tagged this story GameLit because it contains concepts like levels, classes, and dungeon/beast cores. But, it isn't tagged LitRPG because no one has status screens, other than occasionally Idea Seven who likes to organize data into blue boxes. It isn't a natural function of the world to display level ups or skill ups with an announcer voice. I mention this to set expectations, because otherwise I feel like LitRPG fans might be disappointed by my lack of LitRPG elements while others might be turned off thinking I have a lot of LitRPG elements. I think that if you approach the story with an open mind you will appreciate the gradual way in which the main character learns and expands his understanding of how the world works, but the game mechanics aren't meant to take center stage to the actual story.

Get the quest, kill the monsters, grab the loot, don't die. How hard can adventuring be?
