《Cultivation Bug Fuyo》Chapter 16 - Dantian and Profound Veins

"Dreaming?"
"Yeah, I fell into a state of lucid dreaming when I was trying to understand the energy I absorbed. It was like meditating."
"Meditating? You learnt how to meditate!" Her face looked like she saw a ghost.
"Yeah, I think so. Why? What's the problem with that."
"Uhh...." She just started at him blankly.
"Why are you lying?" She slammed her fist down onto the table.
"First you lie about my dad and now you lie about meditating. It's too much Fuyo, it's too much."
She stared at him in fury, her eyes held resentment and confusion. "Quench your anger." She told herself this over and over again until her anger dissipated. It was like watching an actor practicing his facial expressions; she changes her emotions very fast.
Fuyo was a bit speechless, he didn't know what to say.
"Alright, let's forget about it. I'm sorry for blowing up at you but it's not good to tell tales about such things."
Fuyo started to piece together the missing parts. Don Corleone is her father but he's been missing for the last 3 years. There must be a reason he would disappear for so long, he looked vicious but from my memories he didn't treat me badly.
Then again, just because you are a good person doesn't mean you will be a good father. It's probably commitment issues. Fuyo nodded his head as he figured everything out. But he had to clear up the misunderstanding, otherwise things will just get worse.
"Is there something that prevents me from meditating?" He asked as he put on an innocent expression. She almost tripped over, his expression wasn't innocent at all. It was the face of a baby eating atheist!
It was truly scary. Fuyo noted her reaction and realized he wasn't very good at acting innocent in such a body so he stopped almost immediately.
She quickly diverted her eyes and started speaking.

"How could you forget? You were born with crippled profound veins."
"I was born with crippled profound veins?"
"Yes, that's why you are unable to cultivate to the next realm."
"The next what now?" Fuyo was confused, profound veins, realms? What does all of that mean.
"How many memories did you lose?" She looked at him with a scrunched face and then she suddenly lit up like a light bulb. She seemed to piece together something.
"Ah, I see." She nodded her head as she admired herself for working it all out.
"It all makes sense now, your memories are all muddled up, that's why you thought you saw Dad and you could cultivate." She nodded her head like she figured it all out.
"Let me explain it to you, Caterbees are just like any other bees. We go through four different stages; the first is the egg stage of develo......" Her thoughts trailed away from the conversation.
"Wait, do you even remember my name?"
"Uhh..." Fuyo started at her with a blank expression.
"My name is Tuzai La Morto and we are childhood friends. Don't ever forget it baka!"
"Tuzai La Morto as in Slaughter the Dead? Vicious name for a little girl." He thought to himself.
"Okay, Tuzai-chan. I got it, it's etched into my brain." He nodded his head at her with a smile on his face.
"T...T..Tuzai-CHAN? I am your elder!" She pointed her finger down at him and lifted her neck back like she was king of the world.
Fuyo thought it was cute, she is so little yet she is his elder. He ignored her fronting and changed the subject.
"So tell me about these stages?"
"Ah...This amnesia sure is annoying, alright let me explain. At age 13 we have our birthright ceremony and at age 18 we come of age."
"Okay, but what does all that mean?" Fuyo thought to himself that she was terrible at explaining things, is that supposed to mean something to him?

"Isn't it obvious? At our birthright ceremony we inherit our gifts, at age 18 those gifts mature and our power blooms. The first is called our birthright and the second is called coming of age." She seemed to sigh as she said this but Fuyo didn't understand why she seemed so down.
"So what does this have to do with cultivation?" He tried to lighten the mood by asking another question.
"Energy exists all around us. Cultivation is the art of gathering that energy from around us and making it our own energy, this energy is called Qi."
"I still don't know where you are going with this." He said as he scratched his head.
"Just shut up and listen okay?" Her eyes lit up like the passion of a teacher trying to teach an unruly student. She was thoroughly enjoying passing her knowledge on to someone else.
"Because your profound veins were crippled you are unable to gather the energy from around you. That means you can't transform into a Caterbee. If you had broken through to the first level of Qi you would be able to transform for a short time."
"Oh, I see, it makes sense now. Wait, what do you mean transform?"
She sent energy through her body, her blood boiled and her form started to change.
Fuyo was stunned. "Damn that's cool."
She was no longer a larva but a full fledged bee? She looked a lot different than normal bees but Fuyo couldn't place his finger on where he had her form before. Maybe she suffers from dwarfism and it warped her features?
"Hypothetically speaking how would one use this energy to transform into a Caterbee?"
She raised her eyebrow at his question.
"Hypothetically? Well, you gather energy from your dantian and spread it through your profound veins."
"What's a dantian?"
"Gosh, you really do know nothing. I, as your legendary elder will have to school you on the ways of the profound."
"Legendary Elder? This kid sure is smug." Fuyo amused himself with this thought. How much older was she than him anyway? A few days? A few years? She's a lot smaller so it's hard to tell.
"The dantian is the area where the energy you absorb gathers to, if you could gather energy you would be able to feel it. It would feel like a small spot in your chest where all the energy is concentrated."
Fuyo decided to try feeling it; he moved his thoughts into his chest and discovered it was right there, a small little ball made of glowing energy. It wasn't anything special, it was just a plain globe, and it didn't even have a color. He looked closer and noticed it had ten layers, small circles inside a larger one like a matryoshka doll. The inner circle was white but the other nine were colorless.
He wondered around his body some more and found colorless veins spreading out from his dantian. "These must be the profound veins she spoke of!"
He started to manipulated the energy in his dantian, he pulled the white energy from the center circle and let it spread through his profound veins a little bit at a time. The white qi spread through his veins like a freshwater river meeting the ocean.
His body started rumbling and his skin started crawling. It looked like he had hundreds of bugs crawling beneath his skin but he knew it was just his blood moving around his body.
Tuzai stared on in shock, her lips were trying to say the words but couldn't quite make it out of her mouth. "T...t..tran...s!"
"Transformation!"

The second is that he isn't a wizard. He is a Magician which complicates things. The third is that there might be a chance that the whole 'problem' might be comming from his end. Personally he never understood (or interacted with) the 'secret' magical world, but that becomes a problem when the magical world apparently has what his role is supposed to be according to their ancient book... and they are not to happy about him not matching their book. Still it shouldn't be to hard right? All he has to do is go to a school, learn some wizard magic, make sure nobody takes his key... also avoid dying. The Eternal Vigil
The year is 2220, a time when governments and nation-states are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Instead, all prominent parts of human society are now organizing around the commands of three great Artificial Intelligences, owned and operated by the world's largest corporation. World peace has been achieved, and the very word 'politics' has disappeared from people's lips. Religion has largely disappeared, replaced in some parts by worshipping of the great AIs, but mostly substituted by a devotion to material goods and faith in the market. There is now a general consensus that the best form of government has been found. No, it is not democracy, nor is it autocracy or oligarchy. Instead, it is technocracy - rule by the learned, the intelligent, and the skilled. And who are more learned, intelligent, and skilled than the great AIs? Exactly, no one. The AIs will correct some market failures once in a while, but shall otherwise let the market be free. After all, the freer the market, the freer the people. Some may question how society advanced to this stage, but that is all they will do - question. Because they will not find answers, for history is no longer taught anywhere. After all, it is not a practical subject. One cannot get a decently paying job with a history degree. Society doesn't have any time for people to idly ponder about the past. No, this is a practical society of practical people: engineers, doctors, lawyers, developers, managers, bankers, soldiers, and the such. My name is Aiden Scivit and I used to be one such practical man: minding my own business, doing my job, with the faith that hard work will always be rewarded by the market...and that politics and philosophy were things thought of by idly people who leech off society. But this all changed, and here is my story, my history. Just because the stories of ages long past have been erased, does not mean that a brand new beginning cannot be created. The story is already finished but I still need to do some editing so a chapter should be released each day for a month. It is a bit political, as you can probably tell by the introduction, so there is that (it will low-key read like a philosophy dump 10% of the time, so really it's like Atlas Shrugged but liberal and worse lol). Also, I actually wrote this in grade 10 as part of my MYP Personal Project, and recently touched up on it for online publication. Finally, if you find the writing style passable and are interested in my other works, check out the one in the link below. It is a fantasy set in the Ancient Greek world, and is completed and uploaded in full: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/35099/the-oresteia-modernized
