《Promise》Chapter 12: Débutant town

Darkness started to cover the once clear blue sky, and finally, they reached their destination. Only a wooden board to welcome them thought “Welcome to Débutant town”. The group made their way through the town entrance, it was like they had time traveled or something, gone with the modern concrete building, all of the house in this town has these medieval styles, it was almost night time and there was no light to be seem, only torches and fire,

“ Yep, I would expect as much from an RPG base game” Liam said “ If this is a game, then there should be an Inn nearby”.

“ You mean something like that,” Luna said. She pointed directly in front of them, a relatively big house with a huge sign that said INN on it, you really couldn’t miss it,

“ Ah yes good eyes Luna” Liam said, the rest were thinking, “ Dude, it was right in front of us, how do you not notice by now”.

They made their way to the Inn, it was night time, the town was so quiet that you could hear a pint drop, but as they got closer to the Inn, the noise was getting louder and louder. Once they open the door, everything was quiet again, all eyes in the Inn was staring at them, calmly they walked to the man that was standing behind the bar and cleaning some cups,

“How much for a room here?” Kyle asked,

“We don’t serve your kind here” the Innkeeper replied, spitting on the ground, his eyes full of hatress. Kyle did not help the case either, from the moment he was granted Assassin class, there was a sense of darkness and bloodlust that kept spreading from him, though Liam, Allan, Luna and Maria did not mind it, clearly the others did. In contrast, the four of them have this light aura that can be felt around them. Once again, Kyle was the black sheep.

“ Hey now there no need for such harsh words” Liam stepped in with a smile on his face trying to defuse the situation, “ we are just some adventure that had come a long way to get here, all we want is shelter, we do not wish to cause any trouble here”

“ You guys I don’t mind, but him, he could not stay here.” the man replied. Liam's eyes and fist showed that he was not pleased at the answer, however, before he could do anything he might regret, Kyle stepped in “No problem, I asked again, how much for a room?”. he said, this time in a much more cold an intimidating voice,

“ 1...15 gold per room per night” the Innkeeper stuttered, “Good, they will take two”, Kyle answered before turning his back and started to walk toward the door.

The other soon followed him. When they are outside, Allan asked

“What was that about, where are you going to stay, do you plan to sneak in later”

“No, there is a horse barn next to the Inn, I will stay there for the night” Kyle answered.

“ WTF, why, you could just sneak in through the window or something, why put yourself through all that discomfort” Maria raised her voice.

“ It is not wise to make us stand out in this unknown environment, and you guys need the rest more than I do anyway.” Kyle calmly answered.

They knew what he meant, making trouble the moment they arrived was definitely not a good move, but the four of them still felt uncomfortable leaving Kyle behind.

“It's ok, when I was young, my grandfather used to let me go camping with him for fun, I am used to this.” Kyle smiled at them. “Enough talk, get inside and get some rest will you, still keep our gruard up, we don’t know what might happen.”

The four then headed back to the Inn while Kyle headed to the barn. Luna and Maria stayed in one room and the two guy stayed in the other, but later on, Liam call them to one room because he had something to discuss,

“We need to talk,” Liam said. “ First I want to ask you guys, have you ever played any RPG or MOBA game before?”

“I used to play something like that a while back” Allan said

“RPG games are quite famous from where I am from so I do know a little about them” Luna replied.

“I had no idea about them, my study gave me little time to spend on games” Maria said.

“Well to make it simple, a role playing game such as the one I think we are in is a typical leveling up by doing mission and killing monster kind of game, we would gain experience or EXP and gold by doing so, when you get enough EXP you will level up, you spend your gold to buy good and weapons, and that is basically it” Liam explained to them.

They all catch on relatively quick, well they are all well educated people after all,

“ I have been playing this type of gaming for quite a while now, so I think I have the most experience in this type of ‘situation’ you can say. Can I take a look at your sheets too so I can explain to you what your abilities and stats are” Liam asked.

When Liam took a look at all of their sheets, he replied with one sentence: “ Wow we are pretty OP (over power).”

It was not their stats he was talking about, their stats to him were relatively normal and typical. Warrior class has more Strength (STR) stats in comparison to others, the higher the STR stat the more Hit point (HP) you have and the faster your HP regen, but their Intelligence (INT) stats was very low. Archer has higher Agility (AGT) the more AGT you have the faster you move and the faster you can attack, but her STR and INT was lower in comparison. Cleric and Mage had high INT, the higher the INT the higher mana you get and the more powerful your magical damage is, but their STR and AGT were very low. An Assassin class like Kyle should be something similar to Archer class Liam though. In addition, as Liam find out, based on which class you are, your physical damage were base on different class as well, for warrior, STR will add in to the damage stat with a ratio of 1 : 1, Archer damage were based on AGT, a ratio of 1:1, Mage and Cleric damage were based on INT a ratio of 1 INT : 0.25 Damage.

The OP thing Liam was talking about was their skills. In games like this Warriors are for tanking damages or crowd control, Clerics are for regen and boost, Mages are the magical damages and crowd control (CC), Archer and Assassin are the physical damage, and so far their skills were very perfect for their roles.
