《Promise》Chapter 4: I will be right behind you

In the dim moonlight of the night, two people with blonde hair were running into the pitch black of the thick forest, it was Allan and Maria. Running and gasping for air, tears started to run down their faces. Their companion, Luna, was left behind to the mercy of the armed men chasing them. “ Fuck, Fuck, Fuck, why didn’t i come back for her, i wanted to but my body did not obey my head, it instinctivly move on it own.” Allan was screaming inside his own head.
When they saw what happened to Luna, all Allan was able to do at that moment was to take Maria’s hand and start running away, not looking back once.
“ There was nothing that we could have done to help, if we went back it would just be suicide” Allan tried to reason with himself.
“ I am sorry Luna” Maria cried, she stood there like a statue, and if not for Allan's hand, she did not know she would have moved at all.
They were right though, what could a medical student and a PHD undergraduate could have done against 12 armed men rushing at them.
Luna was shocked and again speechless at the scene, there he was, Kyle with a knife on his right hand and blood dripping down his left and the bodies of the two men from before was laying on the ground. “Did he just kill them ? How ?, why?” questions running inside of Luna’s head but it all went to a stop when she heard:
“ Are you alright ? Can you still run?” Kyle asked with a cold voice, his eyes were still focusing on the enemies that were coming and did not once look at Luna.
“ Y.YY. Yes” Luna answered in a shivering voice. “ Then keep running and don’t look back no matter what” Kyle said or was it like a command to her in his voice. She stood up and ran as fast as she could, the sound of weapons clashing and screaming howled behind her, moments later she heard Kyle yell: “Duck !”

Luna turned her head and saw something flying toward her, reflecting the moon light in the night sky. It was an arrow, her heart skipped a beat and her body could not move fast enough so get away and then her eyesight darken and she fell to the ground again.
She could hardly breathe, there was this feeling of pain on her chest and she felt as if something heavy was laying on top of her. When she opened her eyes she saw Kyle again but this time he was not standing but rather laying on her with an arrow through his right shoulder area with blood pouring out of the wound. Kyle, opened his eyes, the pain rush through his body but rather than screaming from the pain he was trying to get back up and this time with his face facing Luna he said: “I told you not to look back” his voice lost its usual cold and strong tone this time it was rather weak and you could say more pleasing to the ear. “ It's gonna be okay” looking into Luna's red ruby eyes he continues to say “ Just keep running and don’t worry about anything else I will be right behind you.”
With that Luna once again back on her feet running away with the sound of violence echoing behind her getting further and further away as she ran.
Allan and Maria had to stop. They were both out of breath and their legs had given up on them, after walking for a full day they were already low on energy and now this. Everything was quiet, the only sound they could hear was their heavy breathing. They had given everything they got, they could not run any further and there was no sound to be heard, the coast was clear. Unfortunately for them, they spotted some light flickering right behind them, it was the light coming from the reflection of the moon’s light from the swords of two men walking right at them. They were both scared and hopeless, tears filling their eyes and Maria started to scream: “ Please don’t hurt us, please I beg you!”. The two men just laughed at them and kept on walking toward them with swords in hand. But before they could take a swing at them a man rushed in with a rock in his hand hitting one of the men on the head, it was Liam. Then he continued to tackle the other guy to the ground, his sword was lost when he fell down, however, he got the better of Liam and wrestled him back, putting Liam into a front headlock position.

Allan and Maria watched as Liam was fighting for his life in front of them and again like before their body froze in fear. Next to them was the body of the dead man whose head was bashed by a rock, they both had never seen a dead body before not to mention a murder right in front of their face. They were both left terrified and their faces both turned as white as a corpse.
Liam was in a bad situation, but he did not panic. Using all the strength he had left, he took back control over his neck area to open his breathing a little before set into a crawling position before using both hands to grab to one of the man’s wrist and elbow to counter attack and it worked, this time is Liam doing a choke hold and he did not let go, after a few minutes the man stopped moving and it was over.

Beast
A threat to the galaxy has come from another, and the Union of intelligent life will go to any length to stop it. Military Quarantine has held for hundreds of thousands of cycles. Traders, merchants, colonists, and Pirates live risky lives along the fringes as the politics from the inner systems fail to see the larger threats beyond their borders. A lone human finds himself far from home with no memories to how he arrived. A failing Trade vessel plays on a desperate gamble, while a malicious parasite searches for a suitable host. ............................................. Author's note: Beast is a story that I wrote a long, long time ago. Some of you might have read it then, back when it was posted on reddit over at r/HFY. It was my first webfiction and made in the spirit of that subreddit's "genre" of humanity being awesome. But, it is also a story that has bothered me a little bit. Just like most new writers tend to do, I made mistakes and errors that feel painful to reread. A Space Opera will be a Space Opera, but I had prose that makes present-me cringe. Still, at the same time, the story is still very much a tale I've never given up on. It was my first adventure into fiction: Beast was a crazy adventure with bodysnatching aliens, galactic war, threats from across the universe... Posting this story here is a way to try and redeem myself a bit. I won't call it a complete rewrite, because it's not, but I have wanted to go through and correct some of the major issues Beast has for a long time and put it somewhere more accessible to read (instead of as posts/comments on reddit) and I figure that now is as good a time as any. Additional corrections you might notice are welcome.

Chains of Dominion
If Jake wins the local Fantasy Tactics Online tournament, he’ll have everything he’s ever dreamed of — a ticket out of town and the attention of a beautiful woman. However, this woman has more planned for him than a bus ride to the local metropolis. She teleports him back to her Realm and declares him her Master… and says it’s up to him to save the world. No pressure. Rival Dominions vie for power, and they are all far larger and more organized than Jake’s rag-tag group of women, but he has two advantages: the rules of this world are eerily similar to those of Fantasy Tactics Online, and his wildest dirtiest sexual fantasies act as a power multiplier for his all-female army. Warning: The heroes have intense tactical battles, wild kinky sex, and near-constant flirtation. The villains are disturbing and cruel. If the idea of villains doing bad things bothers you, please do not read books ever, but especially don’t read this one.

The Fall
Perhaps the most well known of all devils, demons, or fallen angels is the one known as Lucifer, Satan, the Father of Lies. The cultural influence of this figure throughout history is by no means small. Despite that, it wasn’t until the time of Milton’s classic – Paradise Lost – that we saw an attempt to portray a dramatized version of the events leading to this figure’s fall from grace and power. And while this is the case, Paradise Lost is not about Lucifer – though it goes into great detail about his potential musings. No, Paradise Lost was, and still is, about the fall of mankind. So, in light of this, and the feeling that the classical story deserved another telling, I present to you all The Fall – a story focused particularly on Lucifer’s fall from grace and his musings both before and after.
