《Heart Of A Servant》Chapter 17 : Sealed

"You can't kill him. It is impossible. If he dies, you will die and disappear alongside him. You may be his alter ego but you cannot exist without him." I said and I was telling the truth...I also knew that the Shadow knew that I was telling the truth as well.

I still had a trump card that could allow Kyle to gain the upper hand and get rid of the Shadow. That trump card was also the only trump card in my arsenal. The go-to for extreme situations.

That trump card was a complete Runic Law inheritance that I had stolen from my captor: The Sealing Rune.

When my captor sealed me inside the copper ring, the moment he touched it for the first time after sealing me, I read his entire memories and it was only when it was too late that he found out I was in possession of his memories. From that moment on, he vowed to stay away from the copper ring as even him, the creator, hadn't envisioned such a thing happening.

Since he had destroyed my body, he didn't consider me a threat. I needed a body to be able to inscribe the Sealing Rune I had stolen and become his equal, even using the powers of the Sealing Rune and becoming a free man.

I have never heard of someone inscribing a rune on a soul before nor that it was possible. I just hoped that it wouldn't kill me...but what would I have to lose...to attempt such a thing, I would have been pushed to my utmost limits, leaving me with no choice but to use the all-powerful Sealing Rune.

I felt pity seeing Kyle being tortured to the point of being so afraid that he could feel pain in an environment where pain didn't exist at all.

I pointed at him and a stream of energy containing my memories about the entire comprehension of the Runic Law of Sealing entered his forehead.

"It's up to you now, Kyle" I thought.

The Shadow then started laughing in a mocking manner saying," Hehe...Didn't you know that I know everything that he knows?"

I said: "What of it?"

The Shadow said "Well...What's to stop me from sealing him myself?"

It was my turn to laugh at him as I said: "You're not very smart, are you? If you seal him, he'll just use the Runic Law to unseal himself...and Kyle sealing you isn't the same as you sealing him. He's the main alter. You were created from him and he has the right to seal you...Well, you can try and use your version of the Runic Law to unseal yourself but you'll never succeed as long as he remains concentrated on the seal."

I could see the unresigned look on the Shadow's face. I could understand him. He yearned for freedom but he couldn't get it. His life would be spent sealed away.

It was at that moment that outside of the dreamscape, on Kyle's body, a rune appeared on his palms.

In the dreamscape, Kyle's body on the pillar disintegrated and a new complete body appeared standing not far from the Shadow and me.

With newfound confidence, he said to the Shadow: "You've had your fun. Time to go to sleep."

Kyle pointed an open palm towards the Shadow and ropes came out of nowhere and restrained it.

The Shadow struggled with all its strength but it couldn't free itself. As soon as the Shadow used its Runic Law of sealing to make a rope disappear, a dozen other ropes would appear to replace it.

Before the Shadow's mouth was sealed by ropes, it said: "I accept my fate for now, but do not think that this is over. When you're weak, I will come out and make your life a living hell."

I got the feeling that the Shadow wasn't saying everything it wanted to say, so I read its mind and heard: "When you become evil, our Alters will align and we will become one. That's when I will be truly free."
