《Erroneous Quest》Chapter Eleven: BugFix II

Well I was suppose to put this chapter out yesterday but I guess what I did a bit of research to make up a somewhat newish magic system. I'm also writing a side story for this magic system as well. The side story should be done this weekend so you should have a couple chapters to read on the weekend. More or less 3 of them.

Later that day as the sun is setting, Rain and Joven are talking in the barn about each other’s lives, strangely enough they have something in common.
” So the world I came from I was an actor. I had a good career as well but a certain thing happened to flush all of that down the toilet,” Rain said as he was rolling in the hay bed.
Joven is look at the man as he is rolling like a zui, basically a pig that has wings, “An actor. Hmm so you had a similar life as I, which I was advanced magician but after they discovered I was a demon they forced me to live out in the boonies. So what’s a toilet?” Rain remembered that this world might not be the same as his, just as he was about to reply, Joven interjected, “Ahh you mean a pit toilet,” as he is point to the present local where rain was rolling.
“What… Why you didn’t tell me this wasn’t your bed?” Said by the even more shit covered Rain.
“Who said that was my bed, why would I have my bed in the barn. I’m not an animal, I sleep in the house over yaw there.” Softly spoken by Joven. Rain is thinking back at the past events of his time at Joven’s farm to remember his very words, “This my best bed in my farm,” Rain face turned from puzzled too mad as he said, “Didn’t you say this was your best bed?”
“Wha...Wha. Went did I say that even thought my mother is a minotaur doesn’t mean that I sleep in the same area as a quiqui. That is nasty man and I think it’s time you took a shower and get new clothes. Which do you prefer a magician robe or leather jacket and pants?” as Joven started to walk out of the barn towards his house.

The dumbfounded Rain is looking at the ceil, thinking to himself,” A.E, is this world different from the last? Cause I thought I would have an advantage here.” A quick response by A.E, “Good sir, this world is exactly the same but you changed it by skipping the step of making Joven angry. You can’t exactly get mad at him because of what you did to him.”
Following Joven to his house, rain took a shower and chosen the latter outfit. Joven changed from his outwear to his lounging attire of a simple mage robe that oddly enough was the same choice that Rain chosen not to take. Rain walks past Joven’s closet just to only catch a glimpse of the previous cloths Joven just were in it. As Rain sits down he ask him, “Can you teach me magic?”
Joven toss at Rain a green parchment containing a spell, “That scroll contains the spell of silver mist. All you have to do is read the chant and extend your palm as you finish the chant. It’s a basic version of my variant mana bolt sleep spell.”
After an hour of reading the most confusing piece of text known to man, an Ikea manual, Rain learnt the spell’s words as his skill triggered to convert the ancient words in English words.
“Glimmering light in the darkest depth. Rise as steam puts you to sleep, Silver Mist.” Then Rain point out his palm at Joven, who isn’t scared as nothing happens. Once again Rain chants those words again as a result nothing happens. Failure after failure, Rain is vexed at himself and asks Joven and A.E, “What am I doing wrong?”
“Sir Rain, I don’t have the knowledge of this so called magic that Joven is trying to teach you. My information database is limited by the understanding yourself. I can only access it only if you have some understanding of the topic at hand.”
Joven smiled at Rain and said, “Wow, your quick, it took me two years to chant that in the ancient language. I’m surprise that you were able to activate the chant without using the ancient language. But I’m glad that you weren’t able to complete the spell.”

Rain said abruptly,” What do you mean by that. Are you wasting my time?”
“Oh no, that’s not what I meant by that, normally heroes are given the ability to instantly understand magic. But at your case you just have an extreme learning speed ability. Let me give you a simple explanation on why your failing. Magic is not just using a chant and mana to use a spell but think of using mana as bait to catch fish, those fish are the spirits of the world. Each element has a spirit of varying ranks depending on the natural of your mana would draw a particular type of element towards you.” As Joven reaches in his pocket for a glass vial of dark blue liquid and places it on a nearby table just he walked around the liquid turned clear. “Grab that bottle to see what nature is your mana. Mines is water element.”
Rain grabs the bottle with his left hand, at the very moment time started to slow to a crawl, “A.E are you doing this?” After a minute or two a reply, “No, I am not doing this. It seems that bottle is causing interferes with myself. I have to run an diagnose on myself.”
{
Rain: Are you done with it yet?
A.E: It seems that the bottle is actually a requesting a query from you. The only reason why it didn’t show up is because of the past version of you told me that you don’t want any notification to be displayed. Should I display it?
Rain: Yes, go ahead.

A.E: Sir, it seems Harris gave you extra points than the normal amount of 400.Do you want additional information on each of the elements?
Rain: Yes, anything else that is important to know as well.
A.E: All of the elements follows a specific rule set besides the last two: void and null.
· Earth: The ability to construct and reinforce objects.
· Wind: The ability to propel oneself and others at varied speeds.
· Water: The ability to control the amount of moisture within objects.
· Fire: The ability to control the temperature of objects.
· Light: The ability to enchant objects.
· Dark: The ability to curse objects.
Each of these elements have a ratio of 1:1 in points.
· Void: The ability to alter the world.
· Null: The ability to negate the world.
Void has a ratio of 5:1 and Null has 10:1
Rain: Wow that is a lot to think about…

Rain: Well I think I’m done, A.E can you end the time distortion.
A.E: Yes, sir ending now…
}
As the time slow revert back to the normal speed, Rain regains his composure then notice that Joven who was standing is now laying on the ground. Look at Joven’s eyes to find that he is look at the bottle that is held by Rain. “Why is it alternating from rainbow color too white, black and nothing in the bottle,” as it repeated a couple times the bottle seems to disappear out of existence.
All that Joven can muster before pasting out, “You have the power of the forgotten nature, Null…”
*Knock Knock* On Joven’s door, that sudden noise after the dead silence in the house scared Rain. “Who is it?” said Rain. Promptly stated by the person on the other side of the door, “It is I, Thomas of 8th regiment, we came to check on the strange magical disturbance that happened at your residence. Oh wait that doesn’t sound like Joven, the Demon. Who are you and where is Joven?”
“Ah…Come in…” as the door opens to a golem in armor, “Oh shit not this again…”

Glitch — Alpha [Swedish] [Svenska]
********* For English readers: (Might as well add this information in English to save the lovely souls looking through our works some time) I probably won't translate this work, but I'm working on another translation within YA, if that's something you'd be interested in. This one's horror/thriller, so.. yeah. Maybe sometime in the future. Otilia works at a daycare when a child disappears. Seconds later, the child reappears, like nothing had happened. She thinks she's worked too much, but when disappearences start to happen all around the globe, she and her boyfriend realize that something has gone really, really wrong. When they get an idea about what could be the cause, no matter how unbelievable, they will do everything in their power to get the information to the right people. This was my first-ever-novel and my first gamelit story (though I had no idea that was a thing/genre at the time). This novel contains a lot of violence and blood and can be uncomfortable to read for some people. There is also some violence from, and off-screen violence to, children.
