《Another World? Never Saw This Coming》Prologue: All I wanted was some soda

It was mid November, John Montem was enjoying a bike ride to a nearby store for some of his favorite brand name soda.
John is a normal fellow, at least for where he lives. His height is 6ft 3 or 190cm, he has blue eyes with gold veins in them (he considers it his best feature), a decent face, and blonde/brown hair. As for his personality, John is seen by others as a generally friendly guy, who is kind to a
fault
Personally John never thought much about himself, he just hated seeing others suffering. a trait he gained through the multiple hardships he faced during his life. Sadly for John this trait might end up being the end of him.
As John biked down the street, he inhaled the wonderful, slightly chilly fall air and enjoyed the 60 degree weather (Farenhiet.)
In the distance a truck was speeding down the local street, and unbeknownst to the residence and bystanders on the street, the driver had just died of a heart attack, and was heading right towards a nearby store building.
John was the first person to notice just how fast the truck was going, but he wasn't too worried about it as people usually speed where he lives, until, it did something he had only seen in movies.
The truck hit a speed bump, which caused it to veer towards himself and a nearby family.
Without another thought, John's brain went into overdrive as he dropped his bike, and ran as fast as he could towards the nearby family. Once he reached them he grabbed the little kids, and literally threw them out of the way of the truck, he then tackled the father onto the ground, right as the truck smashed into the spot where he was just standing.
Just when John thought it was all over, he looked up and watched in horror as the store the truck had crashed into to, began to collapse.
