《Player Glitch *paused*》Chapter 15 - The shooting range

Sorry about the wait. I don't write or upload Player Glitch on the weekend and I had to write a script for some personal stuff that took a while.
Anyway, enjoy! ^_^
"Well, I certainly wasn't expecting this.", Ludius said honestly.
"Well you can't expect me to run a magic rifle manufacturers and not have a shooting range now can you?",
"Well no I can't.",
"Well then. We need to find out what type of magical rifle you are best at using, I myself lean towards the more portable lightweight ones but everyone's got their own preferences.",
'What type of gun- er magic rifle fits me? Probably something to be used as a last resort like a hidden pistol or a long range rifle I suppose.', Ludius decided in his mind.
Rowan walked over to one side of the range where a table was covered in all sorts of magic rifles. Rowan picked up a small handheld one. One you might see in a wild west movie.
"I don't suppose you've used a magic rifle before. Not with your unholy skill with the blade. I doubt you'd had any time to learn sharps hooting as well.", Rowan chuckled to himself as he passed the magic rifle over to Ludius.
"Alright, so to use it just point the barell away from you at your target and press the trigger, it's quite hard to mess up in all honesty. Oh by the way, it doesn't use ammunition or anything like that, only mana. The power of the shot can be adjusted by the amount of infused mana.",
"Seems convenient!", Ludius exclaimed as he took the magic rifle over to one of the booths in the shooting range and looked down the range. At the end seemed to be something resembling an archery target but made of some sort of metal.

"Okay, you see those rings on the target all the way back there... Aim for the middle of the center ring. We'll do this a few times with various guns to find out what your best with before we talk about a custom made one. Alright, fire in your own time.",
Ludius took the gun lightly in his hand and pointed it towards the target.
*BANG*
*BANG*
*BANG*
*BANG*
*BANG*
Happy with his shots, Ludius placed the gun down and looked towards Rowan.
"Okay then Ludius, let's see how you did.", Rowan walked over to a winch at the side of the blithe and began to turn the handle which in turn seemed to bring the target at the end of the range forward.
"Oh. My. God!", Rowan mumbled whilst barely managing to stay standing.
In the target was a single hole. Right in the center of the inner ring. Looking over at the back wall you would find that all the shots had fired through the exact same hole as there were clearly five scorch marks on the wall behind where the target used to be.
---
1 hour later, in Rowan's office.
Rowan was sat in a leather chair and was pouring himself a strong scotch.
"I don't believe it. I just don't believe it.", Rowan kept quietly muttering to himself in the corner.
"How can you just be a genius with every type of magic rifle.",
"Don't ask me.", Replied Ludius.
Rowan suddenly drank the scotch and quickly poured himself another. A long silence followed only to be interrupted by a question from Ludius.
"So~ about a custom magic rifle. When will I get one?", Ludius inquired.
Rowan, surprised by the sudden question, was quickly brought out of his thoughts. "Oh, erm. Come back in a week or so. This may be trickier than I originally intended.",

"Right... What about the information I wanted?",
"Good things come to those that wait. Come back in a week. I have some thinking to do.",
Annoyed, Ludius left the tipsy man to his own devices and decided it was probably for the best to just find an inn and log out for a while.
So that's what he did.
Ludius found a low class inn near Rowan's top of the range manufacturing company called 'Ye Olde Rippoff Inn'.
Ludius thought there was something suspicious about it but didn't mind as he saw how cheap the rooms were. At only 50 gold per night, Ludius quickly rented the best room for a week and went to log off.

8 72Draugr Cell //Layer 01-- Investiture:
With the end of the only war to ever reach mainland Australia I found myself living out of a small room in an old military compound that had been handed over to the jurisdiction of the Department of Veterans Affairs. The end of the war, unfortunately, didn't mean the end of hostilities. The terrorism trend that had started back in the early 2000's with the attack on the world trade center over in America, had spread to just about every country on the face of the planet. Over time the constant threat from various groups meant the civilian police force was quickly undermanned, under equipped, and overwhelmed. They were simply unable to respond to the daily threats in any reasonable time frame, and in many situations lacked the both the skills and equipment required to deal with the threats to put them down in a 'safe' and expedient manner. Veterans of the war that were being reintegrated into society however, were just about everywhere, all the time. We have the training and the skills required to deal with just about any threat you care to mention, all we needed was access to the equipment to do so. In a world first, under the new Veterans program, the Australian government had taken the rather controversial step of allowing specifically selected veterans to go armed in public. Sure, with Australian weapons laws being very, very strict there were a number of hurdles to get over first, but that's where the selection part comes in. Tangentially that's actually how I met Brianna, my current partner. We work as ringers in Victory City, I thought being thrown into imptomtu combat operations and risking my life on a daily basis for barely livable wages was excitement enough. Then I met her... it... I don't know. An AI unlike anything else out there has wedged itself into my life and decided it needs to... look after me. What could possibly go wrong? **** This is the first book I have released, and my first entry into a cyberpunk universe. There is minimal drug use, a fair amount of sex, a bit of gory violence, and a sultry AI that has decided the main character needs a harem.
