《How I Slayed A Dragon》Chapter 19

(Aug 22 Continued)
When Brigg's match started, I noticed he was wielding two greataxes instead of his usual massive greatsword. It was strange because I had never seen Briggs use duel greataxes before, he had only used a single greatsword.
His opponent was a B ranked mage who specialized his long ranged attacks and powerful offensive magic, similar to William but inferior in every way and uses wind magic instead of ice.
The match started and the two opponents entered on opposite sides of the battlefield, which gave the B ranked mage the advantage as the battle started off with them having a long distance between the two of them.
The mage immediately started chanting and a small whirlwind appeared around the mage and the mage summoned a bunch of mini tornadoes and made them move towards Briggs. Briggs chuckled and I saw him walking slowly towards the mage completely ignoring the tornadoes that were moving towards him.
When the tornadoes were close enough to Briggs, the tornadoes started to suck and pull Briggs into the air but then Briggs ripped off his shirt, flexed his muscles and stomped him foot into the ground and with pure physical willpower broke through the tornado like it was nothing.
Briggs pounded his chest and clashed his greataxes together.
The mage was busy preparing another attack as Briggs was doing this and the mage summoned a gush of wind and concentrated it onto a wind spear.
Wind magic was easier to control and produce wind as air is almost everywhere but it's damage wasn't as high as other magic. Getting hit with an ice spear or fire spear would do more damage then wind spears, however wind was more flexible and easier to control.
The mage created three wind spears which was impressive and shot them towards Briggs which Briggs raised his two greataxes and with a swing of his greataxe he cut the wind spears.

The wind spears were destroyed but that wasn't over, the wind spears were made of wind and air so even if its destroyed it can just recreate itself, you can't "break" or "cut" the air/ wind after all.
The wind spears were chopped by Briggs but were then re-manifested into wind spears after being destroyed and hit Briggs.
Brigg's muscles gave him high defense and so he took little damage, though it was impressive Briggs even got hit at all.
Briggs took a step back and bend himself down, and like a rocket he shot forward towards the mage closing the distance in almost no time at all.
The mage was shocked and quickly performed some wind magic which made the mage fly into the air by controlling the wind around the mage and lifting the mage up.
Briggs took one of his greataxes, and tossed the greataxe at the flying mage and hit the mage's arm, chopping it clean off.
The mage's arm flew away as the crowd went deathly silent, the mage fell from the air screaming as blood gushed from the area where the arm was cut off.
All the weapons used were infused with blunt magic, meaning it would lower attack and make the edges more blunt, even sharp swords that were infused with blunt magic were unable to even cut a carrot, yet with pure force Briggs was able to cut someone's arm clean off with a greataxe infused with blunt magic.
The mage was flopping around and blood was oozing out, I could see the arm that was cut off lying on the floor nearby and I felt kinda uneasy, I mean who wouldn't after seeing someone's arm chopped off and the person screaming in pain nearby.
Three people rushed out onto the field and helped the mage and brought the mage away, of course it wasn't allowed to cripple or permanently injure your enemy and so Briggs might be disqualified... I do believe Briggs did it by accident because Briggs did seem as confused as everyone else and was worried for the mage as well.

I really hope he isn't disqualified, I wanna fight him in the next round.
After a while though the referee made an announcement saying it was unintentional and Briggs was allowed to continue, although he might have to pay for the poor mage's hospital fees and pay a punishment fee.
This also made the entire mood and atmosphere of the audience and entire arena a lot heavier, people weren't cheering as much and the crowds were a lot quieter.
Incidents like this were few but not very rare, it does happen.
The next match was Cornelia versus another A ranker who's name was Mona.
From what I know, the A ranker Cornelia was fighting was multi-classed fighter, she could use both magic like a wizard and shes skilled physically and in combat as well. She's apparently almost as strong as Briggs even without magic and her magic ability were almost as good as William.
She's like the combination of Briggs, Cornelia and William.
Her magic is slightly inferior to William, and her strength is slightly inferior to Briggs and her skill is slightly inferior to Cornelia, but the fact she is proficient in all fields is very impressive and worthy of an A ranked.
However that also means she excels at nothing as well, she is almost never at a disadvantage, but doesn't specialize in anything and so she's a generalist. If you had an A ranked wizard and an A ranked warrior, then she's basically useless because the A ranked wizard's magic would be better and the A ranked warrior's fighting prowess would be better.
But having a generalist like her is better then having a single specialized A ranked like a wizard.
Still, I admire her. I too was sort of a generalist, I was originally a swordsman but I started learning magic and controlling dragon essence to make flame magic and stuff.
If I watch her, I will learn a lot of things even more so then watching Brigg's or William's fight because she is closer to my fighting style.
When the two contestants, Cornelia and Mono entered the arena I could feel the tension between the two. It seems like those two had some beef with each other and they seemed quite familiar with each other, I mean they were both A rankers of the same city so it's not that surprising that they know each other.
They seemed to reallllllyyyyy hate each other though...
When the match started they both instantly disappeared and reappeared in the center of the field with their weapons clashing against each other.
Cornelia's rapiers and Mona's... unique blade.
Mona's weapon was a massive blade, bigger then a normal sword but smaller then a greatsword, it was oddly shaped though and had weird contraptions connected to it. It looked very heavy though.
It was in between the length of a sword and a great sword, however it's tip curves outward like an axe so it's like a mix between a sword and an axe. It's handle had an orb as well which seemed to contain condensed magic power.
The back side of the blade was concave but there was a thin metal(?) straight pole coming from the handle of the blade that connected the top of the and the bottom of the concave blade to reinforce the strength and stability of the oddly shaped blade.
It was hard to describe, but basically it's an odd weapon that was custom made for her and it was at least an A ranked weapon strong enough to cut even powerful monsters down with one hit...

Quebracho: The Legend of Two Heroes
After a violent and tough battle, you recover in an infirmary with your fellow soldiers, or in a more relatable scenario, visit your friend's house after a hard day of studying. You’d expect that both of them would play out normally for the most part, right? Well... Maxon Cortez and Jason McGuire had the same thoughts too. Yet, fate has different plans for them: Max ends up in an eerie location he doesn’t recognize and Jace gets transported to an entirely different world that works like a video game (sort of) by walking into a portal. As they travel along the lands, the two of them will encounter other individuals of many kinds, make friends new and old, gain powerful abilities, experience spectacular adventures, and obtain priceless treasures. However, Maxon and Jason will unknowingly become integral parts of a nefarious conspiracy that, if successful, will plunge both of their worlds into eternal chaos and darkness. So it’s up to them and their allies to thwart it. Side-Note: I’ll admit right off the bat that this story will be my first attempt at writing a LitRPG, so the in-game mechanics and terminology will probably look weird and be even nonsensical. If you notice something that’s out-of-place or just flat out wrong, I apologize. Not only that, it's been a while since I've wrote anything and thus I'm a little bit rusty. So please bear with me. New chapters once every Saturday or Sunday. Also, I'll be fine-tuning the grammar, punctuation, and spelling when I have the time. So expect a lot of random edits. This story is also available on ScribbleHub.
