《How I Slayed A Dragon》Chapter 18

(Aug 22 Continued)
During the battle, I had a suddenly flashback to when William and I had this conversation. He once asked me, why do I think that dragons were so hard to kill?
I didn't give it much thought and I answered with, because they're strong. Both physically and in terms of magic as well. They're S ranked so they're hard to kill.
He nodded but then he told me it's true that they were hard to kill because they're strong but then he added, have you ever considered poisoning a dragon? Which then made me go "oh! I never thought of that."
He told me that many others have thought of that, using poisonous gases or paralysis gases to immobilize or kill dragons as they sleep in their caves but after years of researching, William found out that it wasn't possible and it wouldn't work.
Dragon essence also has a special property that can purify any harmful or unknown substance. This made it so poison doesn't work, if it did work then killing dragons would've been much easier, as you could apply poison to your weapons and slowly kill the dragon.
Dragons were immune to poison or any harmful substances unlike a lot of other monster of it's caliber making it a lot harder to kill then other things that are as strong they are.
It completely renders alchemists and many other options useless.
I remembered this conversation as I was breathing in the poison or whatever gas that the alchemist opponent released.
Since I was only part dragon, my dragon essence doesn't naturally purify the poison so I have to manually control my dragon essence to purify and expel it from my body. I would have to train it a lot before it becomes automatic.
This was my first time trying to purify poison or whatever the gas was inside my body so it took a while and it was inefficient and used a lot of my energy/ stamina.

But slowly I could feel my body become lighter and I could feel myself feeling more refreshed, i could feel myself being purified.
I was still in a bad situation though because I was surrounded by the gas, even if I purified the poison I would just breath it in again as the gas was literally everywhere so I had to somehow get rid of the gas.
With my genius giga-chad dumb high 189 IQ brain (ahem, self praise) I quickly controlled the dragon essence in my body and released it through the pores of my body causing wind to flow out from my body pushing the gases away and clearing the area.
After the gases cleared I could see the alchemist on the far end of the field we were on, I couldn't see his reaction becasue he had a gas mask on but he quickly saw I wasn't unconscious yet and he pulled out another bottle.
I didn't want to give him another chance to pull off some sneaky stuff, but how would I stop him? The distance between us was quite far, and I can't dash to him fast enough to stop him, if I created a fireball to throw at him there's a chance I could miss and the time it takes to create another decently sized fireball is enough to give him time to do what he wanted.
My mind temporarily went into overdrive and I tried thinking and calculating which move would be best for me. I could see his hand slowly move and grab his potion as I was thinking, I needed to decide my next action quick.
I let my instincts take over, I took a major deep breath in and let out a massive roar. The screech of the roar that came out of my mouth caused the entire audience to all cover their ears including the alchemist opponent.

The speed of sound is very fast.
This momentarily stunned him which gave me enough time to create a fireball in my hand as I bent down and dashed towards him.
He quickly regained himself and was about to drink a potion but I was just close enough to toss a fireball right into his face which made him stumble back and allowing me to reach him.
I grab both his arms and with my leg I kicked his knee making him stumble to the ground like a ragdoll, with that I pushed him to the ground and shoving his face into the ground with my elbow.
He squirmed around like a fish but he quickly realize he wouldn't get out of my grip with his feeble strength so he swallowed a pill he had inside his mouth...
This guy had prepared from the very beginning, he had multiple pills inside his mouth for situations where he couldn't get his potions, when he swallowed a pill I suddenly felt his strength increase.
Was he... doping? Is this allowed? I mean, he is an alchemist so if he made it then technically he should be allowed... then again he did use poison and potions so this isn't much of a surprise.
His muscles swelled and a heat pressure could be felt being emitted from his skin as his strength continued to grow, it was getting harder to restrain him.
I focused my dragon essence to the max to keep him pinned, I had to keep him restrained until the effect wears off.
He managed to free one of his arm and punched my face but I ignored it, I increased my grip strength and shoved his face into the ground again.
He continued to punch my face and my nose started to bleed a little but I didn't have time to care about the pain.
I increased my dragon essence usage and increased my strength even further but doing so will wear me out faster so this was a bit of a gamble.
Then I had a good idea pop into my head.
Since I was so close to him, basically right next to his ear... what if I did that dragon roar from earlier... would that burst his eardrums? Well I didn't really care at the time, I just did it.
I took a deep breath in and with all the air left in my chest I released the most high pitched, glass shattering screech I could make right into the alchemist's ear.
I could feel his body go limp and his head fell to the ground nearly lifeless. I was scared I accidentally killed him but I felt his heartbeat. Phew.
A whistle blew and someone ran onto the field and carried the alchemist out, probably to go heal him. The referee announced my victory and the crowd cheered as I walked out, I was tired but I felt proud.
As I left the battlefield, I could see Briggs waving and cheering at me from the crowds with Cornelia next to him which I waved back and then left.
I just wanted to collapse in bed and go to sleep but Brigg's match was next against another B ranker, he was probably going to win and if he does, I'll be the one fighting against Briggs next so I wanted to watch his battle.
We took a 10 minute break which I used to go to the washroom and Brigg's match began.
Briggs vs a B ranked.
The match didn't even last 10 minutes, Briggs won.

Silver Lucky's Lovely Wubbles
A collection of my Reddit's Writing Prompts replies. This is a cleaned collection of various prompts I have replied to over the years. Some will just have grammar and spelling corrected. Others will get expanded. Some are simple, especially my early ones. Many of the later submissions are a complete short story. Most are just a self-contained story, but I will carry over the existing ideas if the prompt inspires something. Though I hope that some will become more than a simple prompt submission. https://old.reddit.com/r/SilverLuckyScriptures/ Moved over to Royal Roads as the UI is superior for naviation and enjoyment.

Only the White Magic and it's ally the Sun could stand against such a vast enemy. From their home in the Valley of the Sun the great tribe of Elves could only watch as the monumental fight unfolded. As the battle intensified and the valley became threatened the tribe separated back into their four original tribes and each made their way back to their ancestral homes. Within their Vales, behind thick stone walls and under powerful domes of magic, they were protected from the onslaught upon the earth. The Elves watched for thousands upon thousands of turns as the war raged overhead. The Fell Ice against the Sun and the White Magic were locked in a struggle lasting for an age, with neither side claiming victory as the earth was ravaged. In time the Fell Ice retreated, as it had so many times in the past. Beaten, yet not defeated, only biding it's time for the next attack. It returned to its frozen Kingdom at the Top of the World, thus ending this last Age of Ice. This time, as the earth warmed around them, the Elves remained secluded from the world in their hidden Vales. They observed from afar life returning to the lands and took stock of man becoming the dominant ones as their numbers grew and spread. As the Elves watched they felt safe and secure in their Vale strongholds.
