《Post-Living》Chapter 26: Kicked Out!

"So there's no fooling you, huh."
Mira said, with a smile on her face.
"Although, I didn't quite know that the queen actually does exists, but I guess I should change that."
He then quickly went downstairs and grabbed a bottle of beer.
"..."
"..What?"
"You can't actually taste that, right?"
Mira, who's now taken off-topic, also has questions.
"Well, we can taste it. It's a win-win for us since we don't need to feel it's effects. Score one for the undead, I guess."
He quickly chugged down the bottle of beer.
"...How did you know me, exactly?"
The Chief said, who's now carrying an empty bottle of beer.
"Well, for starters, your Guise. That eye of yours can't be fooled easily, huh.."
"That's right. I knew who you were, so I pretended not to know anything. It seems like he took it pretty well. If I wasn't a criminal, then an actor would probably be nice..."
The Chief looked above, probably imagining things about him being an actor. With Mira's stare, he was pulled down to earth.
"He didn't know who you are, so that's to be expected. Anyway, mind telling me how that works? Is it a lie detector or something?"
Said Mira, who's now trying to get information out of him.
"Something like that, yeah. I can look into the lies, by looking right into your past."
He quickly said. Mira wondered if that was the reason why he was killed..
"I can see people's pasts up to their day of birth."
He quickly stated. The Chief then had this worried expression on his face. Even as a skeleton, Mira could see that something's not right.
"Chief, what's wrong?"
"Oh no, it's nothing.. sorry."
The worried expression on his face didn't vanish, and Mira was being more suspicious about his recent behaviors. She noticed earlier that the Chief also has the same expression when he's looking at Nyx. She then went straightforward, turning the interrogator into the one being intorrogated.
"Chief.. tell me about him. About the one I'm assigned to. Nyx.. what.. is he?"
The queen made Mira go after Nyx for a hidden reason. That reason was not made clear to Mira. She then carried the orders because it's her duty, and since she couldn't refuse anyway.
"It would be bad to peek around the queen's secrets, wouldn't it?"

The Chief said. He knows that the queen poses a threat, and revealing what Nyx is would reveal the queen's intentions as well.
"...Fine. I'm not planning on disobeying the queen, just to let you know. She's.. precious."
Mira said, with her eyes changing into blue.
".....A-anyway, so the rumors were true?"
The Chief broke the silence in the room. (He's hiding something, but I can't know what it is)- Mira thought, so she answered it anyway.
"You can pretty much confirm it yourself. You can see through me, right?"
Mira stated, and sat down the Chief's table.
"*sigh* I guess I'll tell you, then.."
Her eyes changed into yellow, and stared at the Chief.
"Just to remind you, I don't know that much, but I have a pretty good grasp on it. I'm still not convinced that you're in our side."
"Fine by me."
The Chief said, with him leaning more on the chair.
"The Undying Queen is nothing more than a means to scare the opposing side. The Queen that you're talking about is really just a rumor, but there is something to it. The Queen is just your average, everyday bandit leader."
"...What?"
"I told you, she's just a bandit leader. And I'm also just part of that bandit group. The only thing that separates us from the rest is also because of "The Queen"."
"...G..Go on.."
The Chief said while stuttering.
"She's.. well, how do I put it.. "Undying". There's no rumor about that. She truly is immortal."
"Hmm.. such a thing actually exists?!"
Said he, who's acting shocked.
"...It seems like this news was not new to you."
Mira quickly said, with a suspicious look on her face.
"Uh..uhmm.. I-I can explain.. see.. we're sort of undying as well, we're skeletons after all."
"That's not how the undead works, and you know it. The undead, after being revived, has a lifespan of 500 years. After that, your bones will reduce to ash."
"I-I know, but it's long enough to be called an Immortal as well, right?!"
He quickly responded, although there's discord in his voice. Mira couldn't hear it, but the Chief knows something.
Someone slightly opened the door, and took a peek.
"Oh shit.. am I interrupting something?"
"Oh, uhh hi, Nyx!"
Her eye color didn't change.
"Anyway, can you tell me where these forgeries are made? I need it in 3 days.. and I expect you're going to help me, right?"

Mira looked at Nyx like a child getting forced to do his chores, and since it is actually her "chore", she doesn't have a choice.
I just got back after 30 minutes of helping the skeletons rearranged pieces of their possessed townsfolk. The bones were almost exactly the same, so I, who was only trying to help, got shouted at by those skeletons. I walked out shortly after a lot of screams, because one more scream would make me want to burn their bones, and also shout at them as well.
I overheard that they were talking about something important, so I took a quick peek. I know, it wasn't really the smartest move, but I really need to go forge my name under my Rail. I'm selfless, but I also think of myself sometimes.
"So.. uhh.. Mira? I expect you to help me.. please."
I said, with a low voice.
"Even if I did, 3 days won't get you there, you know."
She responded, and of course, I know she's just making excuses. I know how we can get there in less than 3 days, and she was the one who revealed it to me. I'm being pushy about this, but the reward is just so big.. I can't let it pass.
"So even if I wanted to, we can't get there."
"Uh-huh, but..."
"...*sigh* Aghh, damn it."
"You can fly, right? Come on, just help me on this.. please?"
I begged for her to actually take me there, like a child.
The Chief was also staring at me, really, really hard with that blue eye of his. It's seriously creepy, but even after several looks at him, signaling to stop, but he didn't, so I just shrugged it off.
....Well, fuck, I just can't shrug it off.
"Hey, Mira, I'll meet you outside."
I said, because I really need to get out of the room. The Chief probably wants his reward back, but I'm not going to let him.
..................
After a few minutes, she then went outside, took her broom out, and floated. I guess she really is a witch, huh. And also, I feel like I've read too many novels about this one..
She was standing up, like the broom was just her skateboard. I sat down, then gripped the broom as if I'm gripping for my life.
All of a sudden, wind just blows faster right on my face, and my field of vision is getting distorted more and more, then finally, we were above everything. Looking down, I could see the forests and the paths we walked at, and I could also see why no one manages to find the village. Trees surrounds it, and the only thing you can see that isn't covered with trees is the hill that the Dekus spawned.
"Wo-ah, holy shit, this thing's fast as hell."
I said, and I didn't think she heard me. The wind was blowing really, really fast. I should just mind my own business right here. After all, I didn't expect to get all this help from her..
Hehe.. I.. I never thought I would depend on another person.. again.
"...Huh.. what?"
The broom suddenly stopped, and so did the wind.
"Uhhh... Mira?"
What the hell is happening? Why did she suddenly stop?
"Wait, sorry, I just need to do something."
She said, but the broom is still not moving.
"Do.. what, exactly?"
Wait... WAIT, NO!
"YOOOOOU FUUUCCCCKKKK-!"
Was the thing I said while in my perspective, Mira kept going farther and farther. It looked like she was going up, but I.. was just rapidly falling down after being kicked. Ahh, fuck.
"*hagh**hagh* What the hell... why can't I see it..."
The Chief was very exhausted, for some reason.
"You phrased it like you were some sort of pervert or something.."
Said Mira, who was still not leaving the room at that time.
"...*hagh* D-do you really want to know what he is?"
He asked, while still sitting down, catching his breath.
"Yes. This isn't an act of disobeyance, I just want to know who I'm protecting."
Mira responded, with a stiff voice.
"Very... well... *hagh* Woooooo...."
"..."
"Ok, there.."
The Chief finally caught his breath after numerous lines.
"Any time now..."
Mira needed to go and follow Nyx, so she grew impatient.
"Alright.. when you fly with Nyx attached to your broom, and you reach a height tall enough to squash a human's body..."
"What..?"
The things the Chief is saying was very unusual, and Mira couldn't help but be more confused. There was a silence that enveloped the room after that. The Chief didn't want to continue, but after a couple of seconds, he finally spoke..
...
"Push him off the broom. That will answer your questions, I suppose."
The Chief then stood up and went downstairs, probably to get a bottle of beer.

The Heroic Tales of Silas Horne
In the year 1858, the system came to the world. It brought with it beings from fantasy and mythology the likes of which the world had never seen before. In the American frontier, a place already known for being a dog eat dog world the system gave bandits the capacity for untold violence, not to mention monsters and system loving fanatics hell-bent on the murder of the innocent. But are they truly so innocent? No one knows what the system is or why it came, they do know one thing though. That the world post system isn't a place for a hero. Luckily for the world, U.S Marshall Silas Horne is no such man. ----- AN: This story is a litRPG inspired by "Randidly Ghosthound" and "The New World" but after reading many such stories and finding them to be a tad samey I decided to write this in a new setting, the Wild West. Also, my release schedule is chaotic, expect at least one 1000 word chapter each day but probably like two more will also be released.

This is back up! I never got around to editing it because I didn't have the time like I thought I would. Enjoy this and the sequel.Isabelle was jolted awake out of her nightmare quite suddenly. Dazed, she tried to look around but found that her head was held firmly to the pillow under her. Cloth covered her mouth and nose, a sickly sweet smell enveloping her senses. Her mind began getting hazy. Chloroform, her mind whispered almost silently. Her vision began tunneling, and she weakly looked up into a pair of icy blue eyes. She stared into those eyes as she was pulled deeply and forcefully into oblivion. Isabelle is a smart girl and not really the girly type unless going out. You would usually see her wearing sweats around the house or outside in her backyard on the beach since she lives on the ocean. So when she suddenly gets kidnapped one day, she wonders what she had ever done to deserve this. She hadn't done anything wrong, at least she didn't think she did. But she learns that there is something about her that is special and that she is not only human. Meet Jared Gray, the person that kidnapped Isabelle because of her being his mate. He's been waiting since he was 16 to find his mate and now he's 22, about to give up on ever finding his mate. Will she be able to escape or will she fall in love with her hot and charming kidnapper that she wants nothing to do with? Or will she stay with him and eventually fall in love? --- THIS IS A DRAFT.
