Head researcher of Krieger, Dr. Goro scans his surrounding.
He was sent here to help identify monsters, plants and make potions for the knights that were to scout out the area, which was humid, hot, bugs all around him, making him swat them away, and potential dangers lurking around.
However, that doesn't mean he hated being. After all, he was the one that asks the king himself to be able to come to this place and offers to help out the knights when they said that they were sending scouts to map out the area.
The researcher could help but be excited. The Betelgeuse forest was a mystery that had exists since the being of civilization and remain untouched by humans, at least that what the historians had thought since recently there were many pieces of evidence that were found that suggest that a civilization that was built in the forest, not just any civilization, it was the great Orsus Empire, the greatest empire to ever exist!
There were ancient texts that spoke of beasts of legend and treasures, all of this made everyone want to explore the island and claim the treasures for themselves.
This is what drove the Flora Kingdom to declare on their former ally, the Krieger Kingdom. The war then drags other nations into the war causing nobody to be able to explore the forest. When the war ended, the Krieger Kingdom left the war on top and had the other nations make a pact that the Betelgeuse Forest would belong to the Krieger and if anyone else wants to enter it, they have the Krieger approval.
"Dr. Goro!" A voice snaps Dr. Goro back to reality as he turns to the voice. The scout leader of the group, Jaunce? Jainus? Whatever the man's name was, the doctor didn't bother to remember it.

"What is it?" He asks.
"We found something," The man explains. "And it seems to be something that was from the Orsus Empire, some sort of tablet with words that we can't read."
"Where? Show me where you found it!" Dr. Goro asks, excitedly, getting in the man's personal space. There was a possibility that it could lead to the great empire or it could speak of legendary classes, the possibilities were unlimited!
"Umm, you're too close."
"Ah, yes, sorry about that," Dr. Goro apologize. "Now, would you kindly show me what you found and where you found it?"
The scout leader nod and began leading him to what seems to be a hut with most of its wall torn down, and its roof was missing. Dr. Goro observes the hut, feeling a chill going down his spine.
They enter the hut with rangers and scouts around it, looking out for any danger. In the hut was a mage holding a stone tablet in his hands and was observing it.
The mage notices the doctor and scout leader and straightens himself. "Head researcher, Dr. Goro, and scout captain, John!" The mage yells, cheerfully. "I assume that you're here for the stone tablet?"
Dr. Goro nods. "That is correct and may I take the tablet from your hand?" He gestured for the tablet that was in the mage's hand.
The mage hand the tablet over to the doctor. Dr. Goro saw that the tablet let does indeed have words that were written on it. He turns the tablet over and saw a face of a monster that had no eyes, one giant mouth, and it was darker than night.
'Strange. Just what is this thing?' Dr. Goro turns to the mage. "Did you use [Mana Sight]?"

"I did, but couldn't find anything," The mage answer. "However, I did felt a headache from staring at it for too long with [Mana Sight]."
He turns the tablet over and then uses [Mana Sight] on it. Using [Mana Sight] the words on the tablet began to have a dark aura, the words continue to be covered by the dark au—
A sharp pain shot through his head, causing him to clutch his head. Words began to be chanted in his head.
"The demon who crept through the veil of its night,
Whose voice is that of the world's horror,
Your kins, creator of men's fear,
I, your loyal servants, beg for your help,
Answer my cry,
Lord of the nightmare,
Betelgeuse"
The pain was gone from his head now.
He stops clutching his head and saw that the mage and scout leader looking at him with worry.
"...Are you alright?" The mage asks. The scout leader was calling for healers to come and check on him. Dr. Goro could hear people rushing toward them.
"No, no, no, I'm alright," Dr. Goro said.
"Are you sure?" John asks, knights enter the hut along with healers. The doctor nod, he could see that they were not convinced but didn't continue asking more questions.
Everyone left the hut and went back to the camp with Dr. Goro lagging behind.
At night, everyone was sleeping except for Dr. Goro. He watches everyone sleeping, fingering his necklace which has a ruby that began shining a bright red light.
He had a twisted smile on his face, his eyes were leaking a black liquid that drip down his cheek, black aura covers his body as he began chuckling.
"[Grace of Betelgeuse]"
