FAYE, WHAT IS HAPPENING.
FAYE, WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU.

Everything went black.
“Sorry about that,” she said, she was sitting in a chair by a white table, sipping on tea or something in a void.
In the far-off distance, I could still hear the level-up sounds.
“The fuck do you mean, you’re sorry? Turn that shit off. Did you see that my sanity skill has already lowered by like two levels? Where the fuck even are we now? Looks like that ‘God Space’ I met you and Alexandra the first time.”
“The Genesis Foundation. Let me make it a bit more comfortable for you.”
In a split second the empty void was replaced with a lush green meadow.
“Sit down,” she pointed at a new chair by the table, that I could have sworn wasn't here before.”
“So, what's up. What’s happening?”
“You didn’t know how your skill worked.”
“How could I have? There couldn’t have been anyone in the whole fucking world who could. That skill is unique to me, remember?”
She pouted.
“Fine, could you explain it to me then?”
“Hmpf, only because the Goddess said I should watch over you.
You thought that the skill would increase the next ‘buff’ for 10%, right?”
“Yeah.”
“That’s half true. Applied it more than once you thought that it would be increased by 20%
36500% in the end, correct?”
“Makes sense to me.”
“That false. It would increase the amount that had been increased by 10% by another 10%. In your case, the 100% experienced buff would be increased to 110% then to 121% then to 133%.”

“By God, I stacked it 3650 times.”
“And you broke the system by doing that.
The experience gain is so out of line that even skills that are not supposed to show up when level up will give you a notification.”
“It was a 100% XP buff that lasted 10 minutes, whats the values now?”
“It increased to about twelve quinquinquagintillion one hundred fourteen quattuorquinquagintillion three hundred sixty-nine trequinquagintillion eight hundred twenty-three duoquinquagintillion two hundred ninety-five unquinquagintillion eight hundred fifteen quinquagintillion. That’s a 1 with 169 zeroes after it.
It will last about trequinquagintillion years.”
Anything you do will instantly give you multiple levels in a skill.”
“Oh fuck this. You’re supposed to be my ‘Guardian’ isn’t there anything you can do?”
“I don’t control it anymore, you broke it but I could mute it for you active conscious. Your subconscious will still hear it and your sanity level will still rapidly drain.”
“Fine, I don’t care, just make it stop.”

The Humble Life of a Skill Trainer
For Joshua Still, Skills were the lifeblood of his business. He wanted to understand them, collect many of them, and teach a few of them. Which was a problem because while his profession of a Skill Trainer was perfectly legal, it was frowned upon by most of the kingdom. After all, it wouldn't do for a non-tailor to teach Tailoring. Or, so says the Tailors Guild. The same could be said by the Blacksmiths, the Bakers, the Butchers, the Candlestick Makers, the Mages, and every other Guild with enough money and clout to complain. But still, Skill Trainers provide a valuable service, and so he has managed to start his business and keep it under the table. To a degree. With many a bribe. But his quiet anonymous life of research, practice, and training was about to change. When the Baron demands you pay him a visit, you have little choice.

8 197How the Stars Turned Red
Announcement as of 05 July 2022: I've been diagnosed with some pretty severe nerve damage in my left arm, rendering me unable to write effectively, and as such this story is on hold until it is healed. I am so sorry, and I promise to get back to writing as soon as possible. In the latter half of the 3rd millennium CE, humanity has spread across the stars, inhabiting close to five-hundred worlds across the Orion Arm. Earth has become irrelevant, a historical has-been. The galactic map is dominated by two mega-factions, both controlling vast amounts of territories either through direct control or through their many allies and treaty signatories. The Kingdom of Aurora is the political and economic hegemon despite consisting of only seven inhabited worlds; their strength lies in the Royal Union, an interstellar commonwealth composing an internal market and a common defence pact. These member worlds are myriad and varied, culturally as well as politically, but they all flock to the same banner. The Independent Systems Alliance, spearheaded by the Republic of Elysium, is the ascendant challenger to Aurora and the Union. A pseudo-federal multi-system polity, the Alliance economy and military is rapidly expanding, but at the cost of effective democratic and meritocratic involvement by its people. However, with two superpowers as this, chafing along a common border, and with a constant clamour of polemics, both sides have become convinced the other is constantly preparing for war and are on the look-out for any perceived weakness in their opponent. The predictable result is a huge arms race and a cold war spreading across the stars, requiring only a spark to set the galaxy aflame. Drawn into this game of high stakes are ordinary men and women, their peaceful lives, hopes, and aspirations swallowed by the vortex of conflict and distrust. This is their story. Cover art by Rhodex Designs (FB). Hope you like long chapters and adjectives. Note: English is not my first language. Another story set in the same universe, written by a good friend
