《Beware of Zombies》Dogs be so cute but I'm not a dog, right?

We came back to the little command center and I felt like a little terminator. My eyes looked over Nina and I frowned. The girl had that, ‘I wanted to boast’ face, but was surviving, something to boast about? Definitely when she wasn’t even visibly impressive. At a thought, I look like a Thunder God.
Commander Mitchel walked up to me with two others behind him. I recognize Ralph, but the other guy looks like a surfer with that wavy blonde hair, easy boy smile. Competition?
“You know, Ralph. This is Dennis, he's a cloak and dagger guy. Former special forces.” Mitchell finished introducing and started walking. The other two started following and I sigh.
Those games…
“We have a bird ready to take you to the LZ..” He began.
I interrupted. “No need. Have a couple birds ready to evac off the roof. I will fly us over and we will clear floor by floor going upward.”
The commander stopped, but I walked past him and jabbed the elevator button. He walked up to me, but the moment the electrical field flickered alive his hair stood up like a startled deer. He backed down.
“If the mission fails, I hope you can have this cocky attitude then.” He sneered.
I shrugged and stepped into the elevator. My smug look still pissed him off though. I could see the vein popping on his temple.
My little crew stepped in and I noticed they had on similar armors. Except theirs had some kind of symbol over their chest. I didn’t bother deciphering it or the meaning.
Taking a deep breath, I circulated my ability through my body. Feeling more alive than when I was listening to classics while reading a good book. Feeling the rough texture under my padded fingers.

The elevator opened up and I could see the vast sky. The moon was overhead, gazing down on me like that super clingy girlfriend.
Speaking of my girlfriend, I remember some lady calling me saying that mine was with her. Should I look for her? Mm, but I am free now and she was kind of naggy. Though, she did teach me a lot of things, she was a bit too controlling. She would be many times more controlling than the gamer girl.
I am living every man's dream right now. I would totally not be free then. Eh, I’ll just check.
Pulling out my phone, I sent a text. Tracing it directly to her phone across town.
My eyes twitched.
I checked the map of the place we were going and noticed the location is the very same. She is also on the top floor. I turned her camera on and saw her staring at it. A look of intense concentration on her face. The camera was blocked every few seconds.
She is gaming. The world is coming to an end, alright.
I wrapped us in a field and flew us into the sky, calling her phone to interrupt her game.
She paused the game and frowned. Like crease forming, lips sagging downward frown. She glanced back and I almost hung up then.
She hit the accept button and held the phone near her chin.
“Chase?” She said in a kind of mixed tone voice.
“Who else would be calling you from this number?” I snapped.
“Are you safe, smart ass? Also what took you so long to call me?” She went from concern jesting to angry in an instant.
“I was sick then my building was broken into by one of those day-walkers. Anyway, forget about that. I’m on my way to your building. How about you gather all the people in one room for me.”

“Oh, are you one of the people rescuing us? Metahuman now? Do you feel proud of yourself? Are you bragging to all your meta buddies? I bet you have been flexing in front of the mirror again, huh?” She mocked but I heard that old tone.
Plus I saw her fixing her hair, checking her clothes. She even pulled out lipstick and applied a generous dosage. Plucking her lips, what a weirdo.
“Yes, I am one of those people. Are there any survivors on the lower floors?” I asked.
Hoping to eliminate making a very lengthy fight. Loud noise is exactly what gives away position and I feared something strong coming to attack. I might be stronger than before, but I was capable of being killed just like anybody.
“Yes, there are few people on the sixth through ninth floor. Do you want me to gather them at the top?” She asked while fixing her bra.
“No, just get your people in one room. Thanks.”
She replied with an, ‘mm.’ Hanging up right after.
“Is that your wife? Would she be happy knowing that you are sleeping with at least three women, maybe more? “ Ralph said over the comms.
My lips twitched and glanced at Ralph.
Wait, she knows me best. She would probably figure out that I was sleeping around after knowing I am meta. What are the chances she would be mad with the way she was puffing up like a peacock.
Wait, I have this gut twisting feeling that she might be a meta too. I was sick and I knew she caught some of it. Thus she had to be a meta now, right?
Wait, what if she had a cohort of men at her beck and call? Would I have to fight it out like those werewolves in the harem books?
Wait, was I really ready to have a harem? A bunch of women versus little ole me? No, I was a push over and Hannah knew that better than I did. Plus she always likes to roleplay the Mistress role after watching Fifty shades of Grey.
Damn, my sex life was about to be man’s worst nightmare.
I glanced down at my ring finger and felt it constricting. I touched my chest and realized I was suffocating.
I better not save her. Would people feel like I was cruel if I dropped a building on that building?
Fuck, I am about to be worse than one of those cute little puppies rich women carry. The ones that look at passersby with the sad eyes, screaming in their little minds.
Help please.
Somebody, I’m dying.
But people only pet their heads, so cute.
Tsk, I was going to be that damn dog.
